Jauron Extension confirmed
BuffaloWings replied to Sen. John Blutarsky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still say something's fishy about this. I also won't believe this until Ralph and/or Russ Brandon confirm this. -
I think we have to wait and see what happens with the coaching staff. If we have the same group, Edwards will be the starter, but he'll need a veteran backup. If there's a new coaching staff in place, who knows what they'll have in mind.

Phantom TD call-NFL's gift to Pats??....
BuffaloWings replied to Boatdrinks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know about conspiracy for the Pats*, but it seems the Steelers are usually a beneficiary of some....uh...."poor officiating". -
Bad play call, but Jauron is a stand up guy
BuffaloWings replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In my book, everyone is at fault. The play-call wasn't a horrible one, but it also wasn't necessary. So what if the entire state of New Jersey knew you were going to run? The Jets weren't stopping it. I don't care about the 2:00 warning coming after the play...keep doing what has been successful and don't put the game in the hands of your backup QB. For a QB that's in his 5th season, he should know better. Once the play isn't there, throw it at Fireman Ed's head or hang on to the ball with superglue. He did the only possible thing that the Bills couldn't have afforded - fumble the ball. -
ESPN crawn just said Jauron signed 3-year extension
BuffaloWings replied to Reddy Freddy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is he wrong? Collinsworth seems to pull no bones about the Bills and is usually very quick to criticize them, but I can't disagree with him here. That said, I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's a logical conclusion that Jauron gets fired because of the media attention. That smacks too much of a conspiracy and stuff being leaked to the media, which I don't believe would happen. -
I'm sorry, but I'm not buying this. Something is really fishy with the timing of this announcement.

I didn't want to bring up the fact that this was another Miracle in the Meadowlands. If the Jets win the division and end up in you-know-where......

Is this a correct quote?? tell me it isn't
BuffaloWings replied to Tcali's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was something like 2:05 on the clock when the ball was snapped, so the end of the play would have been at or less than 2:00 remaining. The idea to call a pass play wasn't horrible, but they didn't have to. I would have rather they give it to Lynch for a 3-yard loss than leave it in the hands of a QB that has proven he can't be a starter. -
Because in the back of the end zone, the ball...obviously...has crossed the plane of the goal line. In the front of the end zone, they need to be sure the ball crossed the plane. I don't see why it would be any different on this play. There was also possession...I didn't think the receiver had it until he came down, when the ball was not across the plane. I think the refs got this one wrong - they made an assumption about the play when I don't think there was enough visual evidence to give Pittsburgh the TD.
-
You mean the guy that pays off the refs and the commissioner? Any port in a storm, I guess.
-
Thank you, Howard. I'll go to my grave thinking Trent's concussion doesn't play into all of this. It was the lack of a rebound win from the Miami loss...and we had momentum in Orchard Park (albeit still in the first quarter) until that play.
-
It looks to me like the ball touched the plane of the goal line, but I don't think he had possession until he came down. I think the call stands....and Tomlin kicks the FG.

A Few Thoughts About The Game
BuffaloWings replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This has been needed for some time. I think a guy from the Parcells tree of coaches will be the answer. -
That's because the Jets were in prevent defense. Hard to just toss it up there when two (maybe three) defenders are 30 yards from the line of scrimmage. As Dan said, it's another fundamental flaw with the offense. All they have to do is throw a couple deep shots just to make the defense think about it. We're trying to establish an identity as a running team and begin to do it well. Once we finally try to take a shot downfield, something stupid happens.
-
BTW, is anyone still down on McKelvin?
BuffaloWings replied to The Dean's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've come around, Dean. In fact, I don't think I was ever down on him. I was waiting to see what he could do and Greer's injury seemed like a blessing in disguise for Leodis. I'm liking Steve Johnson more & more. As someone said, he seems to have a knack of making catches at the right time and he made a couple to covert 3rd downs today. Going into 2009 camp, I have him above Hardy on the depth chart. -
I never really cared who won the division once the Bills were out of it, but we might as well play spoilers. Let's make the Jets & Patriots* sweat it out!!!
-
OK...so maybe the play-calling can't be labeled as "conservative". Does "predictable" sound better? Even so, it puts Trent in a bad spot, concussion or not. I still think a lot has to do with his confidence and not the concussion.
-
It's not the concussion. No, I've never had one and I don't know anyone close enough to me who has. But look at the play-calling after Trent turned the ball over twice at Miami. Even in the Jets game, he wasn't throwing the ball with confidence. I think it has everything to do with the combination of his self-confidence and the ultra-conservative play-calling.

Lets settle on a new head coach
BuffaloWings replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cottrell pretty much ran Wade Phillips' defense whenever Wade left a team and they were never the same. Nevertheless, I still say pick a HC and let him bring in his own guys. None of this "pick a coordinator before you pick his boss" stuff. That's a tell-tale sign of an over-meddling owner (see: Snyder, Jones). -
Do you want the Bills to win this week?
BuffaloWings replied to Vetriano's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Win. Even if the Jets make the playoffs/win the division, I want them to sweat it out. -
Bills Game Not On In Albany!
BuffaloWings replied to PearlHowardman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You'll find SU fans around here, but my guess is with the way Siena and UAlbany have gotten better over the past 3-4 years, there is a lot more talk & hype around those two. Syracuse does get their respect, but those highlights come after Siena & Albany on the local news. -
Bills Game Not On In Albany!
BuffaloWings replied to PearlHowardman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, no power in CP. (I'm at work in Colonie. ) 10,000+ in that area w/o power and NG currently estimates that we'll get it back tomorrow night. That means no Sabres for me for the next couple of nights, either. -
Bills Game Not On In Albany!
BuffaloWings replied to PearlHowardman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nobody's watching anything in Albany for a while. The power is out to over 200,000 customers and there's no word when it will come back. I wouldn't be surprised if some of us don't get it back by game time on Sunday. -
So, he must have gotten his "horses" in his first season... Cowher Don't tell me he doesn't do crap with players that aren't his own.
