  1. And I think this is very possible with this group, save for the offensive and defensive lines.
  2. If Herm had his own assistant for such things, I can remember a few times where that guy should have been fired.
  3. True, but it's not like it's all because of him. Rice & McClain are taking over the running game there.
  4. Sparano, Peyton Manning, & Matt Ryan. I really think the Colts were a different team when Manning wasn't in game shape. Plus with Addai hurt a lot this year and Marvin Harrison not the same receiver, Manning is clearly the guy that they couldn't do without.
  5. Welcome! As Dean said (he really isn't abusive as his original response would lead you to believe ), it's been discussed ad nauseum around here, but I honestly think this will be different from the Wade situation. Provided no real extension exists, Jauron's contract is up, so Ralph doesn't have to fire him because Jauron wouldn't fire someone else. But speaking of continuity, why is this becoming a big deal? I know the players want it to keep the same system, but the same system hasn't been working. This is almost like preferring to take your car into the shop every week to get something fixed just because you like the reclining bucket seats.
  6. Maybe, but he's the unofficial heir-apparent to Dungy. Players talk highly of Caldwell - as do a lot of football people - but the Bills may want to steer clear of him for the reasons you mentioned. Hard to say what he can do with a QB not named Peyton Manning.
  7. I went for outside the organization, also. We really need a new face with fresh ideas...heck, if it's from an NFC team that hasn't played us in 4 years, that might be the best bet.
  8. Did he really over-rule Turk on this? I've heard this in a few places, but never got any confirmation. Book smarts vs street smarts. Jauron hasn't exactly shown much ability to think on his feet during the game. It's almost as if everything that happens is not in his book of "what to do when XYZ happens".
  9. He's not getting a head coaching gig anytime soon. Word has it that he's not exactly trusted, per PFT. Mangini I think he overachieved in his first season, then came back to earth last year. The 2008 campaign really should have been an 8-8 season (including 3 losses to teams that will be drafting in the top 10) if it weren't for Jauron's brilliant play-calling...and that's with a ton of money they spent on free agents, plus trading for a 39-year-old "savior" QB.
  10. As soon as he can catch a flight out of Detroit.
  11. Turner Gill coached one season at a mid-major college, albeit a successful one by the school's standards. As much as I root for and respect the guy, I'm nowhere near convinced that can translate to being an NFL-caliber head coach. It's almost like asking your high school's senior class treasurer to be the CFO of a Wall Street company in need of government bail-out money.
  12. ....who (I believe) just signed an extension with UB. He should be there for a while. If we presume Jauron gets the heave, we don't know who the "best fit" would be. But as far as candidates, I would prefer that we see the following get their shot here, in no particular order: Steve Spagnuolo Jim Schwartz Bobby April Jim Fassel Ron Rivera Raheem Morris Morris likely won't be interested, as he just got promoted to Bucs' DC, but it never hurts to see if he is interested. And we should stop assuming that a hot coordinator won't want to come here because they'd want a ton of money. First, you never know what they want. Second, they may kill for a chance at being head coach somewhere.
  13. They're already at Plan B. Cowher just turned down Cleveland. Linky dinky doo
  14. 3 coaches in less than 12 hours after the regular season was complete. What was the over/under on head coach firings? I'm taking the over...
  15. That...and let's worry about a head coach first.
  16. I doubt it's this as much as it is how he probably treats them like professionals and with respect. These comments have followed Jauron everywhere he goes, so that would make the most sense to me. When I first started working out of college, I couldn't stand certain bosses that were hard on you and demanded good, hard work. As I look back now, I'd rather have those guys be my boss....you were required to be on top of your game and were always thinking fresh. With the occasional exception, most of those types of bosses I've seen will respect you and have your back 24 hours a day.
  17. Apparently, you had too much of the burnt sienna this morning.
  18. This is hard to say w/o seeing Cassel play in another offense. The way he played this year has raised questions about whether or not Tom Brady is really that good...or if he's a product of a system. Nevertheless, Cassel's agent is probably the happiest guy on the planet right now.
  19. Yep - that's EXACTLY what the country wants.
  20. Our fan base just got smarter and more loyal.
  21. Yes, but he can opt out if there's new ownership in Miami, which is very likely after this year. Not that it means anything, of course.
  22. It was just given to him when Monte Kiffin agreed to go to the U of Tennessee to coach with his son....unlikely that Morris would be available right now, but you never know. I think the best guy available is Spagnuolo.
  23. Soprano, is that you again?
  24. If Jerry Jones wants someone to blame, he should look in the mirror. He brings in malcontents like Owens & Pacman Jones, then trades for a great talent like Roy Williams and never uses him. Too much distraction to the real players (Romo, Witten, Barber, etc). He turned Wade Phillips into his puppet, so expect Wade to take the fall for missing the playoffs.
  25. Seemed obvious that it was coming...it was just a matter of time. I haven't followed the Browns closely enough, but why fire Savage? He seems to have brought in good enough personnel, though I suppose you can put Romeo Crennel on him.
