True...and an 8-4 record wouldn't be all that bad. The only gloomy point is that the current 0-3 division record really hurts our playoff chances down the road.

Todd, I'll back you up on a couple things....that many of us shouldn't have expected the Bills to win and we shouldn't whine when they lose. But I'm now turning against Jauron. The non-challenge on the Welker catch and the timeout barrage at the end of the first half were just head-scratching at minimum....and this is just a disturbingly continuing trend. I don't have much faith that he will get better at it, because he should have figured it all out by now. If they put forth another effort like this next Monday night, I'm off his bandwagon.

I have come here to say goodbye for good
BuffaloWings replied to Cornerville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As I usually say, don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out. It's fans like you that make everyone else think the Bills should move out of town. This team needs real support from real fans, especially during the down times (like now). Obviously, you're not one of them. I'm probably as disgusted with this team as everyone else is, but there's no need to bail on them. It could be worse...we could be Lions or Raiders fans. -
Anyone else see NFL Matchup?
BuffaloWings replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember thinking last week that Jackson had been running better than Lynch, but attributed it to the fact that he was better at breaking tackles and getting better yards. All I can remember Lynch doing is running into a pile of linemen and getting a whole yard. Jaworski's opinions are much more respected by me than anyone else's at E$PN, so maybe there is something to this. -
I didn't see him play, either, but it sounded like a pretty decent performance. Not bad for his first game in front of his home crowd, so let's see what he can do on a Monday night in front of a rockin' Ralph.

After the San Diego game, I would've given him an A...and maybe even after Miami. I dropped it to a B only because they put forth the same effort against the Jets ( ) and I thought a C was too harsh for the season as a whole. Nothing he can do about injuries, but there's something he can do about motivating the players and doing something about the running game.

Brandon Marshall "near incident"
BuffaloWings replied to Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the TV crews would stop showing the idiotic Chad Johnson-like celebrations, we wouldn't have unsportsmanlike penalties and we wouldn't have idiots like Marshall doing stuff like this. Again, in this age of ESPN and "it's all about me" coverage, the camera is on the WR when he scores, so he gets all of the attention. -
Is 5-3 / tied for 1st better than what you expected ??
BuffaloWings replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, one would have thought that they were serious from day 1, but I understand your point. I would say "time to buckle down further, no more excuses". Funny how I see a lot of "5-3 is fine" responses. I'm not upset with it, but I'll bet everyone would be saying that 5-3 is great if the Bills were 3-3 or 4-2 at one point. To me, it's a bit disappointing, but only because how they arrived there. Besides, they're about 3 turnovers away from being 7-1. I'm not terribly upset with how they have played, save for the obvious issues....and it's not like the Bills are the only team with issues. That said, if they lose to the Patriots*, the division title is a longshot at best. Though, at the beginning of the year, I was just hoping for a playoff spot and that's certainly not out of the question. -
ESPN: Patriots series has been cruel to Bills
BuffaloWings replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kinda makes one appreciate the 31-0 game a bit more, doesn't it? -
Just thinking out loud for a second
BuffaloWings replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Plausible. If they have their act together by the end of the season, perhaps the Patriots* game at home is a win. 3-0 vs Cleveland, KC, & SF is a must if they want to make the playoffs. I still think the Jets are over-hyped and overrated and will finish no better than 10-6, likely 9-7. -
Next year's first round pick - it's obvious to me.
BuffaloWings replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe, but I doubt as a first round pick. I'd rather see a veteran backup brought in as a FA. -
It may be the doctors' suggestion to have him sit between offensive series. Don't read too much into it.
-
It's a risky play and it all depends on surprise. In the end, it didn't hurt the Steelers, but doing it on the road where you can give your opponent an easy 3 points is pretty ballsy. Suffice it to say that I don't think Bobby April should try that if the Bills win the toss on Sunday.
-
I still say that if Roscoe Parrish didn't slip & fall, he is at the place where the ball is thrown to and the worst that would have happened is an incomplete pass. It was 3rd & goal from the 14, so maybe a draw play or something to the back of the end zone where Trent could throw it away if need be would have sufficed. But if you're going to blame Turk Schonert for the loss because of this play, that's quite a reach. As for the 3rd & 1 at the 8, I wasn't thrilled with the pass at the time, but it really wasn't a bad call. The Bills hadn't proven anything on the ground, so why try to jam it between the tackles for another loss? As it turns out, Kris Jenkins was dominating all day, so it wasn't the wrong call, IMO.

I honestly think things will be better when Schobel returns. Schobel is much better at a 1-on-1 matchup than Kelsay & Denney combined. The opposition can't double-team both Stroud & Schobel.

I feel this way a lot of times, but that's usually when the Bills/Sabres aren't having a good season and the loss doesn't deflate me as much. It took me about 2 days to get over the Miami debacle and it'll probably be the same for this one. These are more deflating to me this year because of the 5-1 start and the buzz about this team.....and it feels like a lifetime since we sniffed the playoffs. Nevertheless, don't let sports get you so down. As much as I love the Bills & Sabres, it's not worth the aggravation.

I was actually hoping to see a little bit of that yesterday...the running game wasn't working and they were laboring for every first down. Never hurts to force the issue once in a while.

News Flash: Pats get away with EVERYTHING!
BuffaloWings replied to odon59's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Better yet, get a home video that shows a player MAY not have hit a QB in the head. Then use that instead of the millions of dollars in technology that the NFL has invested in for cameras to prove it. Nice, Roger. -
There is plenty of time left and the season is not over. I don't see Buffalo going into New England* next week and winning. If they don't, the worst they will be is 1 game out of the division lead (2 games with the tiebreaker) and an upcoming schedule in their favor (CLE, @KC, SF). And if we forget about the division, they're tied with the Ravens & Jets for the WC spots with 8 games left. They'll have their fate in their own hands with the 3 division opponents right after that - 2 of which are at home (Miami is sort of home, right? ). The world hasn't ended yet, but they need to right themselves quickly.

Moorman Run, Penalty, Challenge & In-Bounds Kickoff
BuffaloWings replied to SouthernMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And it's a rule that should be changed...just say that the kick is illegal if the BALL goes out of bounds. If the player picks it up while he's standing out of bounds, it should be a dead ball right there. -
The Bills are better than they've been playing. It hurts because these losses are to the wrong teams, but they have time to get their act together. That said, they need some tough love right about now. The Sabres play in Boston on Saturday night...maybe Lindy Ruff can give them a pre-game lashing on his way home.
-
If they couldn't run it against Miami or NYJ, how can we expect them to do so against NE*? Not to mention, the Bills were behind after the pick-6 and had to start throwing more often, anyway. Regarding the gambles, I didn't like the 3rd & 1 call. Despite the running game problems, Jackson was actually running the ball pretty well on that drive, so give it to him then....don't take a chance on a pick in the red zone or facing a 4th down. Even if it does become 4th down, kick the FG - get some points after having the ball for 27 straight plays.
-
It was Leon Washington and he absolutely knew what he was doing. He stepped out of bounds intentionally and picked up the ball, even though it was a good 4 feet IN BOUNDS. The rule is asinine because the ball itself never went out of bounds. If you look at the rules of a player being down on a regular play, the line of scrimmage is where the ball is when the player is deemed down (knee touches, elbow touches, etc). Why don't the rules for these particular plays use the ball's location??? Regarding the Patriots* play...the receiver (Deion Branch, maybe?) actually LOST POSSESSION of the ball after Nate Clements cold-cocked him. What bugs me about that play is that the Bills would have hung on to the lead and likely won that game, resulting in the divisional playoff game being in Oakland, not NE*.
