A Few Thoughts About The Game
BuffaloWings replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The weird thing is that it's been preventable things that have hurt...Trent's fumble on the QB sneak, Parrish slipping on today's INT (disagree with Simms...that would have been incomplete at worst), dropped passes on screens that could have gone for huge yardage, and a terrible challenge. I think Trent's concussion is contagious. -
The brightside....yes there still is one...

My bad...you're right. Every game is huge, but they really need to win the MNF game vs Cleveland. Or Tyler Thigpen. -

He made a couple of nice catches (one along the sideline and one over the middle come to mind), plus the TD. Even Royal was making catches to move the ball. The TEs will improve. The schedule helps us, but the KC & SF games are on the road. Despite how bad those teams are, they're bound to win a couple more soon. The coaches better be prepared. But I think matter2003 made a big point....the offense is moving the ball, but committing turnovers. Take those away and maybe we're 7-1 right now. -
There should be. Whoever told him to challenge that should be beaten. Jauron is getting out-coached again. His mistake on the challenge and the turnovers are why they're losing. Second half will tell me a lot.

MORT PICKS THE BILLS.....
BuffaloWings replied to THEDuganWolcott's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He probably did this because Coach Tuesday attacked him during his chat. I continue to wonder why we care what Mortensen thinks, not to mention any of the other E$PN pundits. -
Brilliant quote from McGee

Boy, we're in trouble now, aren't we? I'd like to say that I really hope Schobel is ready to go, but if he's not 100%, I don't know that it'll make much difference. Getting pressure by blitzing the LBs & safeties is one thing, but they need to start pressuring with the front 4. -

Congress getting involved with NFL games on TV
BuffaloWings replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"The NFL’s application of its policy does nothing for NFL fans in Burlington, Vermont, Hartford, Connecticut, or Providence, Rhode Island, which the NFL does not consider to be part of the home market of the New England Patriots," the letter said. Tell me this is not just because Pat Leahy can't watch his beloved Patriots. -
Good news for Bills Nation

Gah....Nantz & Simms. It'll be a Favre love-fest all day long. -
I don't know about dumping Perry if they miss the playoffs....if you bring in a new DC, he has to get along & share the same philosophy with Jauron first & foremost. I don't know if that would happen with Ted. Even if it does, it likely requires an overhaul on defense - Cottrell would want to bring in players who know him and his system. That means another year or two of iffy defense. Regarding Dallas, Jerry Jones wants to find any reason to fire Wade because he wants Jason Garrett as the HC. Wade was brought in as a temporary fill-in until Garrett was ready. Apparently, that time is getting closer.

I think you can find similar results among a number of teams throughout the league - not all of them, but some. The draft is a crapshoot half the time and if you're lucky, your first rounder becomes an impact player in the NFL. TD's first high-profile pick (Mike Williams) wasn't a bad pick at the time...he just didn't pan out at all. However, he was horrible at dealing with free agents and picking coaches. Someone said earlier that he went for the big-impact player (McGahee) instead of the solid pick. That combined with trying to build an OL and DL from the scrap heap - and letting Pat Williams go - really led to his demise with this franchise.

Their paying the Refs off! Pats "perfect" game???
BuffaloWings replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll play devil's advocate and say that it may not necessarily be just the Patriots*, but the NFL's officials are just terrible lately. Over the past...say....5-6 years, the officiating just keeps getting worse. The next time you see a tough call - like a questionable catch on the sideline/in the end zone, a fumble that may not be a fumble, or whether or not a QB's arm goes forward when he loses the ball - watch the closest official. I'll almost guarantee that 95% of these guys will hesitate, then make a call *after* consulting with another official. It's as if these guys are afraid to make the wrong call and be embarrassed of being overturned by replay. -
From those of us who can't listen, we'd appreciate a summary. Thanks!!

And you'd be complaining about a Bills win because....????

I think there might be an in-game tryout for the 2nd receiver slot this week. This is why Hardy was drafted - it's time for him to step up. If he doesn't, I think the offense is in trouble.

It really is amazing how many teams win when they're aggressive on defense and force the opposition to make plays under pressure. I thought Fewell made a good adjustment in the SD game by blitzing Poz & Mitchell and he forced Rivers into a couple of fumbles. But the disturbing trend over the last 3 games has been not to blitz....didn't against Arizona or Miami and he waited until the 4th quarter against San Diego. This defense is good, but it's good because of the aggressive nature. They don't have enough playmakers to play a conservative defense.

Rest easy Buffalo--all is well--all is well

Memo to Jason Peters: Get your arse into camp on time and it wouldn't take you half the f**ing season to get into shape. Sincerely, The Buffalo Bills Fans -
Relax....I agree nobody was starting a parade just yet, but there's no need to go off on this guy. But you have to admit, a lot of us were giddy after beating San Diego.

Trent - Crashing back to earth....
BuffaloWings replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What I meant was it's good for a young player that has experienced a decent amount of success and begins to get a lot of attention/accolades from the media. Not saying Trent would do this, but should a player begin to think that things are coming easy, he can look at this game and understand that NOTHING is easy. This loss should be motivating for Trent. And yes, this loss should also be a wake-up call for the entire team. I never said it shouldn't. -
Trent - Crashing back to earth....
BuffaloWings replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trent did come crashing to earth today...it was bound to happen, but I'd rather it had happened against a non-division opponent. Games like this are good for someone like him. It keeps his head from getting any bigger and makes him re-focus. He will bounce back. -
After today, im really annoyed we play in Toronto
BuffaloWings replied to marauderswr80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I undertstand your point, but this game needs to be in Orchard Park. It's Miami, for chrissake...our biggest rival. That said, the game is in Toronto *because* it's Miami. $$$$$$$$
