  1. The more appropriate question is "How many Baltimore women has he impregnated?"
  2. I think it's more of the latter, especially the line's lack of talent. When the line doesn't/can't do its job, the OC and the QB are pretty hamstrung. We're also passing more because we've been behind...more so in the Jets & Patriots* games. Hard to come from behind when running the ball (whether you can or not) takes up more time.
  3. I'm not disagreeing with either point. I'm just saying the more well-liked someone is, the more difficult it is to fire him.
  4. So, you looked at the "TD" column of some stats page and figured that Hardy is progressing nicely because he has one less TD than Evans? Look at the other columns and notice that he has 9 catches for 87 yards compared to Lee's 37 catches for 700 yards....and that's with Evans being double-teamed against NYJ & NE* and a combined 1 catch. I'm not sure how you'd say that's progress. Nevertheless, I'd like to see more from him. He needs to do what Reed has been doing - running good routes, getting open, and blocking. Hardy won't be running any reverses or anything like that, but he needs to find the spots and get open so Trent doesn't give up after seeing Evans double-covered.
  5. That's my point....he's well-liked enough and well-respected enough that it would be extremely difficult to fire him. That said, there's been a rumor of the extension, but has it officially been announced? If not, I'd have to imagine that his status is in jeopardy in January if they miss the playoffs after a 5-1 start.
  6. Theory aside....we've had plenty of arguments for winners/losers....there are other issues at hand. The players love Jauron and love playing for him. I doubt there is a guy in that locker room who wouldn't be upset if he was let go. Considering that he was the victim of a new GM in Chicago (and not really let go because of his performance), it seems that he's a very well-liked and well-respected man around the league. Because of this, I think it would take an Earth-shattering event to fire Jauron. He's here for a while, unless he leaves on his own. I think the biggest problem is that Jauron has a huge voice in the personnel department and with Russ Brandon having a business (non-football) background, it effectively makes Jauron the GM of this team. If you look at all of the coaches that simultaneously hold the GM title, they RARELY win on the field. Mike Holmgren was the GM in Seattle for a while. I believe he was no longer GM for the 2004 season (whether or not he resigned that or it was removed from his duties, I don't know) and the Seahawks went to the Superbowl a year later. Andy Reid in Philadelphia is another example. To me, the Eagles are underachieving. They have the talent to win, but aren't winning the game they need to win. I think Mike Sherman was doing the same in Green Bay after Ron Wolf left. There are other examples that I can't rattle off right now, but I've rarely seen a GM/coach consistently have a winner on the field. If the Bills had a GM that was a true football GM (someone in the Bill Polian or Ron Wolf mold) and let Jauron just coach the team, I'd bet we'd see more consistent winning results.
  7. Regardless of the results of the next 3 games, I think there would be heads rolling if they lose to Miami again.....especially in Toronto. Ralph shouldn't stand for that after the sh*t he's gone through to get this game.
  8. What's his status, anyway? I realize he's been injured since Miami, but does he have a chance at getting on the practice field anytime soon?
  9. Um..... Never mind.
  10. Good thing you posted this...I wasn't sure how many people here felt about DJ.
  11. Stop that sh*t right now. Edwards has already shown more guts in 17 games than Johnson did in 4 years. It may be similar to Bledsoe, but we have some time to see if Trent & the coaches can adjust. The similarity exists in the lack of an offensive line, but Trent actually has some mobility. I remember a couple of times yesterday where he could have stepped up in the pocket or even ran with the ball. That alone would be an improvement.
  12. They already tried that (except for the part about it jolting the ref's nuts). The Titans got screwed by it once when the buzzer "didn't work" and the opposition got the next play off. Jeff Fisher holds enough weight around the league that it got changed. While we're at it, I don't see why the challenge is dead once the next play starts. We have the ability to see where the ball was and down/distance (via the same replay system they use now), right? Perhaps the reasoning is to give the coach a time limit as to when he can challenge, but I don't see why we can't extend that through the next play.
  13. San Diego? They're not even tied with us...we're one game up on them PLUS the tiebreaker.
  14. That's just one play....if the results were similar after a larger sample, then fine. But don't ban him from calling and audible at the line because one play didn't work. That's like giving a QB one game to prove himself.
  15. Debilitating injuries, at that. It's not like I'll be rooting for either team, but it might be best if the Patriots* win. I don't care about the division as much as I do about just making the playoffs.
  16. I think Trent is just going through growing pains. I also noticed Randy Cross' observations that when you have a run call and see there are 8 men stacked in the box, you need to audible to a pass. If the coaches are not letting him do that, that's on them. But if Trent knows the play call is not going to work, he needs to be able to change it at the line. This is all part of the learning process that he's going through. He has to adjust to the league making adjustments to him. Good QBs do this....we saw how JP didn't do this well at all. The next games against Miami, NYJ, & NE* will tell us how well he adjusts.
  17. Unless someone comes in and lets Jauron go. I don't see that happening in Ralph's tenure, though. Someone said this yesterday and I'm wondering if it's time....it may not be a bad time to clean house again. I'd just hate to go through an overhaul and have another 3-13 season.
  18. I wouldn't go so far as to say Trent's career is getting ruined (JP's wasn't ruined - he just couldn't cut it). He still has time. Jauron may not have flipped a lid when they didn't notice the red flag, but it was tossed. If it was me, I would've picked the dam thing up and thrown it at one of the official's heads so they had no choice but to notice it. Nevertheless, when your opponent's owner is in the back pocket of the NFL's officiating crews, it's hard to win.
  19. Two good points here.... We can't win with a number of our starters out of the lineup because the backups are not as talented. This team is relying on the Whitners, Schobels, & Reeds to perform. When they're not playing, there's a significant drop-off in talent that the coaches can't scheme around. Yes, Trent Edwards is not an elite QB (I'd pick someone like Peyton Manning over Roethlisberger/McNabb as elite) and he's currently going through growing pains. He *will* be a good QB...and I think he'll have his chance to show it again by the end of the year. I think these past 3 games should show the front office (if they didn't know already) that you need sufficient talent past the starters - at all positions - if you want to win.
  20. Injuries should never be an excuse, but the injuries we have are to our best pass rusher, the team's emotional leader, and a WR that's more important to the offense than we'd believe. The players will never use that as an excuse, but it really has a lot to do with the losing streak. Considering the drop-off in talent after these guys, it's no wonder we've lost 3 in a row. The difference yesterday was that the Patriots* had better coaching, period. As much as I hate Belichick, he's still a far better coach than Jauron right now.
  21. Well, no game is easy. Remember how we should have easily beaten Miami? That said, they should still be favored in the next three games. KC is still tough at home, despite how bad they are. Nevertheless, these guys better be prepared for Monday night. Don't focus on anything else but beating Cleveland. Speaking of Brad Butler, when will Melvin Fowler be back? McKelvin seems to be getting better KO returns, but if Hardy is to get confidence after a TD catch, what happened since week 2? Hardy needs to be making catches to keep drives moving, not just late-game TDs.
  22. That's the point. He really had nothing to lose and was given a gift on a phantom pass interference call (a la Ed Hochuli's gaffe in Denver) that got KC to the 1 yard line. Herm took a page out of Mike Shanahan's book. Had KC converted the 2 points, the entire city of San Diego would have lynched the office of the NFL's head of officiating.
  23. In favor of who....a guy who has had 4 years to figure it out and still hasn't? Don't even talk about Hamdan, who can't play unless BOTH Trent and JP get hurt. Trent is going through growing pains. That's it. Nothing more to it, really. We're all justifiably pi$$ed off because they started 5-1 and looked like they were on the road to the playoffs and we've now dropped 3 bad ones to division opponents. At this point, I don't want to miss the playoffs, but I'm expecting that they will as Trent works out the bugs. That said, the sooner he does, the better the chances they will squeak in (o-line and defensive problems aside).
  24. I'm mildly surprised this wasn't 100% yes. I hate when extensions are done midway through the season. You almost immediately see a drop-off in performance of the extendee because they realize they have a job. If I was GM, I wouldn't agree to extensions or new contracts until right after the season is done.
  25. Exactly. I even yelled out that he never did anything. This was the one time that Peters did nothing wrong and the Bills got shafted. I've never seen so many "bad" calls go the Patriots* way than they have over the past 2 years.
