YE OLE's official Jason Campbell Poll
BuffaloWings replied to Cotton Fitzsimmons's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not worth going for him, IMO...free agent or not. We might as well open up the competition and see what Brohm/Edwards can do under a different regime. -
Bills offered McNabb an extension
BuffaloWings replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree with you on all counts - they are definitely going younger. But I don't feel bad for Philly fans. McNabb was a huge part of their success in the past 10 years and they didn't want him anymore. They've got their wish. I hope they thought about what they wanted, because they've got it now. -
McNabb trade helps define draft
BuffaloWings replied to ieatcrayonz's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Not to mention, they still have Vick. -
I agree this is huge, but I don't want to say (yet) that it makes the Skins an instant Superbowl contender. I want to see how well they play together over the first 5-6 games. If the offense clicks right away and the defense improves, then I'll be on that bandwagon...but not until then. A couple of other thoughts on this... - I wanted McNabb here, but it just looked like it wasn't meant to be. I'm happy for him that he got out of Philly - they were one of my favorite non-Bills teams - especially with McNabb - but since he got a raw deal from the fans, I'd love to see him beat Philly twice this year to shove it back at them. - This tells me Philly is restructuring their team. Despite how I think he can still play, McNabb is on the downside, so it was probably time to get rid of him for the team's sake. Westbrook isn't getting any younger, either, so it seems like they're going to go with the young guys now - McCoy, Desean Jackson, Maclin, and Kolb.

We'll see if all of this translates to the field, but the bolded statement above pretty much summarizes what I see. This is not a Gregg Williams boot camp, this is not a Dick Jauron club med, and this is not just a team going through the motions with a hot shot player brought in to sell tickets. I think Gailey is bringing the "work" attitude to the team. They need to work to win. They're not being drilled like GW tried to do, but they're also not being coddled like what Jauron did to them. It just seems like an under-the-radar, quietly going about your business working attitude.

Good points...and this is pretty much what Brett Favre has done for the past few years. This is just on a much smaller scale. Considering the surprise factor of this, it is annoying that he's taking so long to decide. The draft is in 3 weeks. He really should tell them something soon. That said, maybe he's waiting to see what they do on draft day/weekend to decide if it's worth another shot. -
Donte Whitner traded for McNabb? On his twitter.
BuffaloWings replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess my two statements didn't exactly coincide with each other. We're suckers in that we read something and assume it's true. Not everyone, but enough people to start regurgitating it elsewhere so that it makes it around the internet to the news to Sportscenter and then everyone thinks it's true. Especially today, but it happens year-round. Separately.... I hate how we're looking to Twitter & Facebook for news. We see posts from "celebrities" or pro athletes and get what they see as what's really happening. Unfortunately, the majority of them aren't bright enough to realize the whole world will see it...hence, can of worms is open. It's out of control now and there's probably no way to stop it, but social networking sites should never be taken seriously. -

Nice... PFT is a great place to look for regurgitated garbage. -

Just goes to show how much Americans are suckers. We're looking at a social networking site for news. -
Liar!

In Jauron's regime, trying your best was all they cared about. But as Sean Connery said..."Losers always whine about their 'best'. Winners go home and f**k the prom queen." Perhaps Chan should convince the players that they should be angry that they're not winning. Angry enough that they're just bitter and pissed off, so they need to take it out on the opposition. This team can easily have a mean streak just like the Jets did - not because they think they can win, but because they know they should be winning. Take the losing frustration out on your opponent.

Indeed. He & Dick Enberg were a great pair. RIP, Merlin.

Derek Anderson blasts Browns fans...
BuffaloWings replied to Buftex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know that I'd go so far as to say what he did, but I can't blame him for being ticked. You don't cheer when someone is lying on the turf in pain...no matter who they play for. -
This is the main reason he hasn't gone anywhere yet...and the reason he's stayed in Philly all these years. Andy Reid has been a huge supporter of McNabb. I kind of agree with Thoner. If Philly didn't want McNabb, I'll take him. He may not be the same Donovan as he was in the early 2000s, but he's better than what we've got now.

Eagles release Brian Westbrook
BuffaloWings replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not jonesing for Westbrook, but I'd call San Diego and see what they'd give us for Lynch. -
The Official USA Olympic Hockey Thread
BuffaloWings replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is what made the game so much fun to watch. They kept the play moving and when it was moving, the players were skating...not just waiting for something to happen. You could definitely see the emotion they were bringing to the game. All you really need to do is see Zach Parise's reaction to both of Rafalski's goals - that should tell you the intensity they played with. I definitely like this group of players. They're younger than the teams that the US has brought to past Olympics and they have more enthusiasm/intensity. They're playing like they have nothing to lose. -
I wouldn't mind either of these guys, even though they'd both be a stop-gap player for a few years. Seymour is 30 and Chambers is 31, so they're both also approaching the downside of their careers (if they haven't gotten there already). I don't know if Seymour would fit into the 3-4, but he'd certainly have enough motivation to play against Belichick twice a year.

I thought I heard a story where someone put down $1K on the Tampa Bay Rays getting to the World Series in 2008...with odds of something like 150-1. That's a lot of money (unless you're a rich gambler), so I'd never do it. But I can easily see betting $50 on an NFL team with those odds. Things can turn for an NFL franchise pretty quickly.

I'm not sold on Bradford. If they took a QB in round 1, I'd rather it be Claussen.

Simple Poll: Who do you want at QB
BuffaloWings replied to Cornerville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I want a competition. Let Brohm & Edwards get a shot. Bring in Thigpen. Let them go at it. Either that or bring in McNabb and say he's the #1 guy at the start of camp. -
The way we watch football could be changing soon...
BuffaloWings replied to Buftex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NFL at ESPN is all about Chris Berman. Without him, it's nothing. He's the one who runs the show. He made the old Primetime. I never really thought that TJ was all that great, but he & Berman clicked and have good on-air chemistry. Even after NBC took the Sunday night package, I'd still watch the Sunday night Sportscenter for his highlights. Berman has been one of the few bright spots at ESPN these days for me. -
PFT claiming that Donte Witner
BuffaloWings replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This whole thing reminds me of the WKRP episode where Johnny Fever misread the contest announcement to say $5000 instead of $50.00 to the winner....then made the "guess the songs" medley nearly impossible to win. I loved that show. I have a feeling Whitner didn't expect to actually get 10,000 followers, but he should have had a plan all along in case he did. Sounds like yet another idiot move of his to get attention. -
