  1. Have some respect...they have more than 10. I'd say it's somewhere close to 100.
  2. Ding ding....we have a winner. Had he said stuff like this before the Minnesota game, I doubt the Saints would be where they are. Looks like he wasn't smart enough to keep his trap shut and keep going with the same game plan.
  3. You can't forget Donahoe raving about GW, yet you forgot who the hot coaches were that year? Let me give you a hint: they're still coaching.
  4. Meh...nothing more than him trying to say he loves him some him. He should be more worried about where (or if) he'll be playing next year than shooting his mouth off about how his numbers aren't his fault.
  5. I never understood the lack of love for McNabb (hate is such a strong word). He's a veteran QB that knows how to win. If Philly doesn't want him anymore, I'll happily take him. For those thinking he'd be another Bledsoe, just remember at least he can run.
  6. This is pretty much how it goes. Imagine if Gailey decided to hire Charlie Weis for OC. Almost every single fan would be singing his praises and expecting nothing less than a trip to the Superbowl. But if Gailey and Weis don't get along or have different offensive philosophies, you're asking for trouble. They get out of sync, the players get out of sync, and it shows on the field. Gailey needs to hire the guys that agree with or buy into his game plans. Guys who will pretty much be a "yes man", but also be independent. You can't have an All-Star cast of assistant coaches because they'll all want to do their own thing. When you clash egos like that, there's no way a team can actually be a team.
  7. Change the color scheme to red, white, & blue and I think you have a winner.
  8. His point was to help the people of Haiti in the sense of pointing them in the right direction, so they can learn for themselves. Plus, I think shoveldog was just saying that there are ways to "fix" how they do things. I don't know what they are and I doubt most of us do, but there's usually a way. Shirley just sounds spoiled to me. I don't know his story or his upbringing, but he's either the type of guy who got everything handed to him or the type who clearly worked his a$$ off to get where he is, but is arrogant enough that he thinks he deserves everything he's earned. I can understand some of his points, but I don't think it's as simple as leaving them to fend for themselves. I think shoveldog's point is pretty much spot on. There are plenty of people in the world who need help because of conditions that are no fault of their own. Since he's making enough money playing a professional sport, he could certainly help out a little. The biggest problem with our society (IMO) is guys like him who are conceited enough to not give back when they can afford to.
  9. I think this would have only come up if the Jets won yesterday. The we'd be hearing about karma for the next 40 years. I disagreed with the Colts' decision to sit the starters, but it worked out. I also disagreed with the Patriots* playing everyone through the entire Houston game. You're right - it's up to the organization's coaches & front office, but everyone will have an opinion.
  10. And like they should, if they don't get called for it, keep doing it until you do get called for it. Sucks, but that's the way things work. The refs had the Hargrove call and the one on the next play reversed. I agree the Hargrove penalty was weak and they should have called the one where someone dove at Favre's ankles (only because it's the Brady rule).
  11. This is why it's a bad idea to hold the game the Sunday before the Superbowl. I understand why they did it, but the negatives outweigh the positives for me on this one.
  12. Sour grapes. Peyton is by far the best QB in the game right now. Outside of the numbers he puts up, the guy shows up to play, works his a$$ off, doesn't complain, and takes losses with a load of class. The only time you hear about him off the field is in his Mastercard commercials. The man is a consummate professional and a Hall of Famer.
  13. I want to see Indy & New Orleans move on. I've always been a Peyton fan and I like what New Orleans is doing. Plus, I can't stand the Jets and I don't particularly care for Favre anymore. A NY-Minn Superbowl would pretty much ruin my year. What I think will happen is Indy-Minnesota. I think the Vikes defense is going to pressure Brees too much and either sack him enough or force him into a mistake or two. I have a feeling Indy won't blow out the Jets, but I think the pressure will get to Sanchez this time....not necessarily the Indy pass rush, but the pressure of being in the big game. Sanchez (so far) hasn't been bothered by that too much, but I don't think he'll be very comfortable.
  14. Exactly. Adapting a defense to your players' talents is a much more successful plan than forcing a scheme on them. The scheme can work if you have the right players, but if you don't - and can't acquire them - it can be a disaster. I don't think Bates would be a "disaster" hire, but I'd be a little nervous about it.
  15. This is exactly what good coaches do. When you try to jam a system down someone's throat, it rarely works. The WCO was developed because Montana/Young/Rice/Craig/Taylor had the talent to execute it. The 46 defense was developed because Buddy Ryan and Mike Singletary knew what to call with the guys he had on the field. Things like these schemes were rarely duplicated well by other teams trying to follow the system. Knowing that Gailey is the type of coach to build a system around the talent he has is refreshing and optimistic. Perhaps he can find a DC who can do the same thing.
  16. That CG quote doesn't tell me anything. In fact, it sounds like typical coach speak. If he had said something like "Edwards has great potential, a good head on his shoulders, and just needs the right coaching", then we can all get scared. But I don't see his quote as anything close to endorsing any QB on the current roster.
  17. See ya. Really. Just remember there's only so much room on the bandwagon.
  18. Who are you and what have you done with DarthICE? Seriously, thank you. This is a regime change that deserves a chance. Just because the fans didn't get who they want doesn't mean this guy will suck. I was a little skeptical when I first heard it, but as I looked at his history, I'm more than willing to see what he's got.
  19. Just because you want Jim Kelly to be the HC doesn't mean this is a bad hire. Yes, he got fired from KC...but because he had philosophical differences with the head coach. It's not like they tore up the league when he left, either.
  20. This is exactly why the HC should be hiring his own staff. Guys who have reputations for having their own agendas as coordinators shouldn't be hired just because we recognize their name. If you think about disagreeing with me, fine...just remember why Buddy Ryan punched Kevin Gilbride.
  21. Explain to me how he has failed. He took a Jerry Jones-owned team to the playoffs for two consecutive years and only got fired because he...well...worked for Jerry Jones. I know that being a successful coordinator and college HC doesn't equate to an NFL head coach, but it's not like he had Jauron's record prior to this. For the love of God, let's give him a chance.
  22. This wouldn't shock me at all.
  23. No self-respecting Bills fan should ever be rooting for Dallas.
