  1. Your reasons are why some of the teams have filled their vacancies already, but I don't think it's a bad thing to wait. If Grimm is interested, the Bills should wait for the Cardinals to finish their season before he's interviewed. No need to hire someone just to have a staff in place right now. Patience.
  2. Donahoe waited for Fox and Marvin Lewis to finish the Superbowl, then interviewed them. Greggo didn't exactly come out of nowhere, since he was the DC for the Titans' highly-ranked defense the previous season. People think he came out of nowhere because Fox & Lewis were the hot coordinators and didn't give much credence to anyone else. Funny, isn't it?
  3. All of that hoopla just to see who Jimbo picks in the playoffs?
  4. I have, but that's not the point. I still liked my current job after a year (that was almost years ago), but now I'd seriously consider another opportunity if it was attractive. I'm not aggressively trying to jump ship, but if another attractive opportunity came along, I wouldn't ignore it...especially if it was a promotion from my current job. You can always go to the interview and decline the job if you're offered it. Considering that there are only 32 of these openings in the world, he shouldn't balk at the chance to at least interview.
  5. These two points are (IMO) the most important part of being a head coach. You don't always need to be a brilliant coordinator, just a guy who knows the game and leads people the right way. Just because he wasn't an OC doesn't mean he's not fit for being a head coach.
  6. If the Grimm interview is legit, then I'm not buying any handshake deal with Frazier. I can possibly see that Frazier was interviewed and told that he's at the top of their list, even though there will be other interviews.
  7. Honestly, it's his loss. When he gets sick of Sanchez & Ryan in the next few years, he'll be ruing the day he turned down these opportunities. Just like all of us, if other opportunities come up, don't turn down the interview. Even if you're content with your current job, go to the interview and see what it's all about. You can always turn down the offer, if you get one.
  8. I haven't gotten anything done at work lately, either....but that doesn't have to do with the coaching search. I also trust Buddy, as long as Russ just sticks to selling Buffalo to the next head coach. Tom Donahoe got run out of town in part because of the coaching hires, but he went about the first one correctly - he waited through the Superbowl to interview Marvin Lewis & John Fox (the two hottest coordinators at the time), so he took his time and was pretty thorough with the search. Perhaps this is what Buddy, Russ, & Ralph are doing and I have no problem with it. We won't know if the coaching hire is the right one for a while and we can't always assume that the names mentioned by everyone are the best out there. I'm at the point now where if they get Cowher, then great. If not, I trust Buddy enough to get a good coach in here and turn things around.
  9. Because if their man is Frazier, he can't be officially hired until after Minnesota is out of the playoffs.
  10. Good point. I'm sure there's a lot of evidence to support that, too. I hate people.
  11. For now, I'll take losing AFC Championship games over what we have now.
  12. Seriously...I hate the arguments against Cowher, Schottenheimer, Shanahan, etc. because "they're unlikely to win another Superbowl". I just want a coach to run the team the right way on & off the field and gain respectability back for the franchise. I want the Superbowl, too...but let's catch the ball before we start running with it.
  13. Remember the Comeback Game? As everyone was preparing for the OT coin toss, Todd Christensen (good player, awful broadcaster, IMO) said that after all that happened during regulation, the game was coming down to the serendipity of a coin toss. I still hate the argument about "one team getting the ball". Yes, one team gets the ball, but I would imagine it's more likely throughout the course of regulation that either team scores less often than they don't. The defenses are there for a reason. I still say the format is fine. If everyone feels the need to make a change to the rules, then make OT a full quarter.
  14. Where have you been all my life? Seriously, the moves you outlined are legit so far. There will be plenty of fans not happy with the new coach (whoever it is), but at least they didn't just hire someone for the sake of having a coach.
  15. We certainly can't please everyone all of the time. I'm glad the fans aren't being consulted by Ralph on the new coach. Someone please wake me when it's over...actually wake me about a week after that. Hopefully, the whiners will have stopped and have started becoming a fan of whoever wins the Superbowl.
  16. How about you leave now and save us the aggravation?
  17. This is exactly my thinking. A good, motivated coach would want to build his team from the ground up. That allows him to put his stamp on that team and earn respect around the league. Parcells did this. Cowher did this. It tells me that these coaches just want easy money. If they don't want work hard to build a winner, then move on to the next guy.
  18. Exactly. We can't sit around waiting for him to make a decision. Give him a timetable. Start interviewing others. It's *almost* like watching the girl you like hang out with other guys to make you jealous and make a move. Cowher doesn't need to make a move, but the Bills at least need to move on with their plans. The draft will be here sooner than we think.
  19. Looks like you're thinking like Ralph does...."Let's go find a coach who was good in the 80s & 90s because I remember those days." I think what this team needs is a younger, yet experienced, coach. Jauron failed in part because he didn't relate well to most of the young roster. He was an old-school type of coach that didn't connect with the younger players on the roster - and most of this roster is young. I always liked Dan Reeves, but his time has passed. We don't need to keep going back to guys who were good a while ago or guys who are contemporaries of the current front office.
  20. That would change the strategy of the team in possession of the ball. If they're on their own 20, they'd be playing their game plan instead of taking a knee and hoping for OT. The NFL doesn't need to do anything with OT. Leave it as it is. I also hate the "fair" argument because each team has already had 60 minutes to play their game and try to win. But if everyone's going to be crying about what's fair and what isn't and the NFL has to appease the masses, then just make OT another quarter. Keep a few existing rules (all reviews come from the booth, each team gets 2 timeouts, etc.), but make OT a full 15:00 quarter. If the teams are still tied, play another 15:00 quarter.
  21. Whoever gets the HC gig in Buffalo should keep this in mind.
  22. Love it....boos are coming out already.
  23. Exactly. Now, while I wouldn't consider him a "bum" or "assclown", I also wonder if he's ready for the NFL. Just because he played in the league, is seemingly doing a good job at Stanford, and his brother coaches the Ravens does not add up to him being an NFL-caliber coach.
