Are the Bills getting a swagger
BuffaloWings replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is what I really like - he calls out players for their lack of performance, which makes them accountable. If they don't respond to that, they don't play. And I agree that we won't see a swagger until the regular season. Hard to show that in preseason games when the starting unit is on the field for all of 3 series. You don't get swagger until you start winning a few games and establishing yourself. At the very least, the coaches are showing swagger to the players (and the fans), so here's hoping it'll rub off. -
Buffalo reaction to a superbowl
BuffaloWings replied to Fitzmagic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. In the comfort of my living room in front of my 50" HDTV. I understand those who say "cost be damned" and want to go to the game, but there's no way in Hades I can afford that. 2. I can't say for sure (don't live there), but I'd think the Washington St/Seneca St/Main St area down near HSBC would have to be a madhouse. 3. Yes - I doubt a Superbowl win would really boost the economy and get jobs there. Not quite the same, but ask Red Sox fans what happened after they won the World Series. They're still on a high and cockier than ever. And we'd finally get fans of the Cowboys, Steelers, and Giants to shut the f**k up! -
Pat White might be released soon.
BuffaloWings replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it all depends on their defense. The offense is capable enough with a foundation of Brown/Williams running the ball and Henne showed me he can play the game last year, but their D is a huge question mark. -
Still a couple of games to figure it out, but I have a feeling we'll see Jackson start off as the #2 WR and Johnson in the slot. Stevie should become a factor in the red zone, however. You don't need to be terribly fast and he's got the height that we've sorely needed.

Haynesworth is not happy in Washington
BuffaloWings replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fixed. Seriously, Haynesworth is now realizing that he has to work to earn his millions and it's pissing him off. Poor baby. How much of that contract was guaranteed? -
Dick Jauron ALWAYS deferred, but don't let that influence your vote. It depends on a ton of things...weather, opponent, etc. Jauron made a huge mistake against the Saints last year (not that it would have affected the outcome of the game) by deferring. He basically gave the ball to the most proficient offense in the league for the first possession, thinking his staunch defense could stop them...yet the Saints rolled into the end zone for a quick 7-0 lead. It's that type of situation where I'd take the ball. I like wanting the ball at the start of the 2nd half and choosing what end zone to defend, but there are times when you can't do that.

He's probably more concerned about his photo shoot for next week's GQ issue.

Patience Grasshopper...it may get worse before better
BuffaloWings replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still want to know how a statement like that can be made after 1 preseason game. Of course you're not going to see that change. If we were able to say this after Week 9, then that's saying something more significant. Even then, you have to realize that this whole re-vamp of a team is a work in progress. Gailey may not be dealt the best hand, but you can't assume he's going to fold or turn it into a royal flush...not now, at least, and probably not this year. -
Wow...one preseason game with a new offense and we're clamoring for a new QB.
-
I wouldn't call them a surprise. They made the playoffs two years ago. My surprise? The Buffalo Bills.
-
This. Not many of the self-proclaimed experts will pick the Bills to do much this year because of the new coaching staff and the questions about the OL. And of course, the Bills didn't draft Claussen or any other big-name QB, so there's no way they can be any good. We're seeing that Gailey is preaching work ethic and discipline and a changed approach to the game because we have eyes & ears at camp every day. This is what gives us belief that they will be better. The E$PN guys don't see that. I'll continue to preach my cautiously-optimistic approach.

Enter Norman Dale... "There's more to the game than shooting. There's fundamentals and defense."

Chan on 97 Rock this morning
BuffaloWings replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very likely, since the next HC was Dave Campo. It's also possible that Gailey & Jones just didn't get along because they had the same personality. You mix two guys who have the same ambitions and one of them isn't going to like working for the other. -
Maybe, but in the grand scheme of things, it's hard to sympathize with a guy who is throwing a tantrum because he can't get his guaranteed millions. I work in a place where (for the longest time) I felt I was underpaid and overworked compared to my peers. If I had refused to work because of that, my employers would have easily found someone else to do my job for the existing salary...even if they thought I was the best guy in the group.

Monday PM practice notes, O looks good
BuffaloWings replied to Heitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Edwards had them in 2008. Prior to this season, that's when his confidence was at its highest and he was leading the offense like a QB should. He lost it completely after the concussion. Maybe Chan is instilling that confidence back in TE's head, but as you say...time will tell. I still remain cautiously optimistic, but can't wait for Sept 12th! -
I'd love for him to be right, but I just can't believe Clayton anymore.

Go To Camp and see for Yourself,Edwards is WAY BETTER!
BuffaloWings replied to Driffill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is very likely why they won't win a lot this year. I'm expecting better things from this staff, but it may take some time because of this developing process. Edwards is probably close to being a legit QB and Brohm/Brown are in need of experience at this level. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Fitzpatrick cut, but only if Brown shows something during camp & the preseason games. -
Is CJ's tweet a hint that his contract is done?
BuffaloWings replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I think we're reaching a bit here. -
What's insufferable is how the media is handling it. Wall-to-wall Favre coverage just because someone who seemed to be some authority on the subject texted someone else that Favre was going to retire. I said yesterday that I wouldn't be surprised if Brett really hasn't made up his mind and someone leaked the retirement thing to get the story (and coverage) going. Favre's waffling hasn't helped, either.

I'll admit I've never played organized football, so I've never worn pads and done sprints in the summer heat. And even though it's not the same, I've worked outdoor jobs in this heat and I know that's no fun. I can only imagine how worse it is wearing helmets & pads. If you've been out in the heat doing full-contact drills in pads, then I'm sure you can understand what they're going through and more power to you. I just think it's a bit inappropriate to call these guys "babies" when deaths have occurred to actual NFL players (forget about the general public) during the summer heat.

Spiller's status is a signal to the fans.
BuffaloWings replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It won't go to that level. Spiller will be in camp in plenty of time.
