  1. Who's saying he's done? Got a link?
  2. Easy now...killing Nix because he couldn't get a deal done isn't fair. There is another team involved, after all. As for what I'd do, I'd still make the trade. I don't know if they can work out something straight up for Hawk (like some here want), but they could use draft picks. This team isn't going to the playoffs this year, so I'd still make a deal with Lynch and collect some draft picks at worst.
  3. Bad idea. Teams have tried this in the past and it never worked. Denver is one that comes to mind (during the time Elway was hurt, Dan Reeves decided to rotate Tommy Maddox and someone else). Your line doesn't get in a rhythm and the receivers and whatever QB is in there can be out of sync. It's not like this is baseball, where you can platoon players and eventually stick with a hot hand. Besides, don't the rules say that the 3rd QB can only play if the first two are injured?
  4. The biggest glaring holes on the team are the QB & OL - in either order. I think we can only wonder what things would be like with a line that gives protection. I agree with you on Edwards and his pocket presence. He may be physically over his concussion(s), but he's clearly scared in the pocket...probably because of a combination of a bad line and being nervous about getting knocked out again. If he's concerned at all about that, it's time to bench him. Agree with you 150% on Lynch. He dances way too much for me. Jackson is a better runner than Lynch because of what you said - he hits the holes hard and runs through them. Lynch will try to slide through the hole and hope nobody lays a hand on him. Part of the reason the defense can't get off the field late in the game is because of the lack of a pass rush. If they were able to get any pressure on the QB at all, they wouldn't be playing half as much as they are now. We have a good secondary, but they're forced to make plays all day long because the line can't put pressure on the offense. I thought in April (and still think now) that they need to draft for the OL first. While I wouldn't be upset if they went for a QB, I think the trenches need to be solidified before we take a chance on an early-round QB.
  5. Same here. I'm looking forward to the Jets game because I'll be there, also.
  6. What's a "moran", anyway?
  7. Just 5 years ago, the Saints didn't even have a home. It could be worse, people.
  8. Jauron wouldn't be coach of the Colts because Polian knows what kind of coach he is. My point is that the winning attitude starts with the front office. They sell the winning formula to the players and it's the players' job to execute it. Part of that sale is to get the right coach to translate that attitude to the field. I admit I was hoping to see this team surprise some people. They very well may do that by the end of the year. However, right now, it's still a work in progress.
  9. QB and OL. Yesterday was all about the offensive line's ineptitude. Edwards' picks were not on him, but his receivers, but that doesn't excuse him from taking any blame. I'm more & more convinced that the Adrian Wilson hit was the beginning of the end of Edwards' career.
  10. Agree with your assessment of Lynch/Jackson 150%. I've been saying for the past few years that Jackson is a better runner than Lynch. He's more down-the-field, instead of Lynch's herky-jerky style that only serves to miss tackles, yet gain all of 3 yards. I'd rather have Jackson try to plow through a hole and get 3 yards than Lynch shake & bake a few defenders to get 7. I don't think Lynch is a "waste", per se. He can still play and can be coached, but with the overall RB situation, I think moving Lynch (not cutting him outright) wouldn't be a bad move at all.
  11. Hmmm...I know what you're saying, but having a QB around who has won helps. If you look at the college records of the QBs drafted in round 1, not one of the ones with a below-.500 record has exactly turned out to be a star in the NFL. However, as the article said, John Elway's career at Stanford wasn't stellar, either. I really think the key to drafting the franchise QB is their mental maturity. The tangibles can be compared & contrasted, but having an idea of what goes on inside someone's head is pretty important to me.
  12. Either that or say "What the heck?" and start calling a gadget play every time. Won't THAT get defenses confused!!
  13. Only if you expect the Bills to win.
  14. Networks will grab the latest retiree they can find to start doing TV analysis. If they work out, great. But that has to be 1 out of every 10 guys they pick, so the fans suffer through bumblers & mumblers that this boot camp didn't seem to help.
  15. Let's not get carried away...it's not like he predicted they'll go 15-1. For a guy who played that terrible on national television, he sure has a set of cajones.
  16. How about neither team?
  17. If they're 0-4 after 4 games, then so be it. I just want everyone to realize that this is not an overnight project. I wanted them to win yesterday as much as everyone (admittedly, I thought they *would* win), but it's 1 flippin' game. If they look like they did yesterday for the next 3 games, then we'll know they have serious issues to fix. If they look competitive and show 150% effort while still losing well-played games, then we'll know they're almost there. You can't judge any team off of Week 1. That's the textbook definition of impatience.
  18. Thank you, Coach. At least there's one person thinking along the same lines I am. I keep telling everyone to wait at least 4 games. We'll have a better idea then about what this team can do.
  19. Who knows...perhaps Miami's D was better than we expected or perhaps the o-line needs a few more games to round into shape. I can understand everyone's frustration with Edwards, but there's no reason for impatient fans screaming for the coach to go after 1 stinkin' game.
  20. Agreed...no need to panic yet. This is a work in progress and we can't expect perfection overnight. Gailey has the experience. I doubt he was "nervous" as one poster put it. I've said before that we'll know what we have in 3-4 weeks. We shouldn't have expected miracles on opening day. Now let's see how the coaches adjust and how the players take it.
  21. As bad as the Bills played yesterday, I feel better knowing how Dallas screwed themselves out of a win.
  22. Agreed. Forget about the records...we hit bottom because there was no direction from the coaching staff or front office. That's worse to me than what happened in 2001 when TD gutted the team and hired GW to rebuild it. As someone said, at least we knew back then that things were going to be bad, but there was a direction. Everyone here is optimistic because Gailey is the anti-Jauron and Nix has a football personnel background. The on-the-field product still has issues and question marks, but at least we (well, maybe just me) feel better because there's a group of men with NFL experience running the ship. We're not talking Superbowl, just a team to feel better about. As for Sullivan, I disagree. Teams don't need to "bottom out" to get better. There are situations where that may need to happen, but not always. It's disturbing that he thinks they need to get a high pick in order to improve. Let's see how the first 3-4 weeks play out before we start worrying about what pick we'll get.
  23. Two games come to mind right now: 1991 Divisional playoff in the snow - Bills win 44-34 on the way to SB XXV 2002 regular season in the snow - Ricky Williams had almost 200 yards rushing, but Bledsoe hit a couple of long TD passes Do you see a theme with these games?
  24. The funny part is that they're the only two who picked the Bills. Can't say I know what to make of that...
  25. I hate this and always will. You realize that you're hoping they lose 13-14 games, right? Rebuilding doesn't mean getting the first pick or even a top 5 pick (as if they ALWAYS work out)...it means getting a good mix of talent and having the coaching staff build an offensive and defensive philosophy around that talent. My hopes for the season are pretty simple: 1. Better game-day coaching (play calling, clock management, etc) 2. Be more exciting and competitive 3. Win a few games to make the "experts" think the Bills are a pleasant surprise 4. Beat each division rival at least once (which will lead to #3) My IDEAL season would be an 11-5 finish and a wild card or be part of the playoff discussion during December.
