It appears that Richard Jauron is mocking drafts
BuffaloWings replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Scott better hope he has enough disk space and processing power if that happens. Wow - that guy is out there. -
I'd still take a QB and I doubt that opinion would change come April. That said, it really depends on the Bills' draft position. For example, if they win a few games (how DARE they!!) and slip behind the Cowboys & Panthers, maybe the Panthers take the QB that Buddy & Chan wanted, so then they go LB because the next best QB isn't what they're looking for.

ESPN needs to cut Steve, Matt, and Stewart
BuffaloWings replied to judman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was actually one of the best analysts on TV before his GM/President stint. He still knows the Xs and Os and the on-field stuff, so I don't mind him talking about that. If he starts talking about personnel decisions, then ESPN should cut away. Steve Young is an old voice that we could probably do without, but I guess it's necessary to have more than one analyst opinion. As for Stuart Scott, well...there are better choices for a host. I'm still not sure why ESPN needs to employ 48,000 ex-players for their pre-game/Gameday shows. -
Because when you're picking in the top 5, you take the best possible player available for any possible need that you have. If the next Peyton Manning is coming in this draft, would you pass him up for a decent (not great) pass-rushing DL/LB to which you'd have to pay top dollar? The QB is a need on this team, like it or not. Yes, Fitzpatrick has been serviceable, but if you have a chance to get a QB who everyone thinks will be GREAT, you do not pass this up. DISCLAIMER: I hate the phrase "The next so-and-so", but it applies here.

I never said that. If anyone is sold on the Buffalo defense, their head needs to be examined. It's clear that unit either doesn't have the talent or is in a bad scheme based on whatever personnel they have. I'm leaning towards the former, but it's probably a combination of the two. I'm more sold on the offense than I was in Weeks 1-4, but I'm not exactly claiming this is the greatest show on turf. They have made huge strides since the bye week and as Buftex said, Gailey's imprint is all over this offense. Even though I still think Fitz is not a franchise/number 1 QB, the offensive players have to be more satisfied with their performances than when Edwards was QB. I'm also not saying Fewell wouldn't have done a good job here. I just think Ralph wanted to cut his losses from the Jauron regime and keeping Fewell wouldn't have allowed him to do that. A fresh start is what this organization needed.

30 players in the league have more interceptions...
BuffaloWings replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. And this. If I was Chan, I'd make every player in the secondary go through catching drills. Line up the machine and fire footballs at them all day long. If they drop more than 10%, make them do 10 laps for every ball they drop. The DB's job is to keep the offense from catching the ball, but when you have opportunities to make a pick, you CAN NOT give them up. Just a few years back, I was begging for some ball-hawking DBs and it seemed like we got them a couple of years ago. They need that again. If they had a playmaker in the secondary and someone who could effectively rush the passer, the turnovers would come more often. -
I'll say this to my grave...the Bills needed a complete coaching staff overhaul after 2009. Don't get me wrong - I like what Fewell did with the players and the attitude he brought to the team after Jauron was gone, but it wasn't the right time for him in Buffalo. Personally, I didn't want any link to the Jauron era and I wouldn't be surprised if Ralph wanted the same. It was time to re-vamp the coaching staff and start from scratch again. Not to mention, I'm not yet sold on the Giants D. Yes, they have good personnel, but their wins have been over Carolina, Chicago, Detroit, Dallas, Seattle, and Houston. About the only "good" win in that group is Houston and they're showing that they're not the team everyone thought they would be. Their D got manhandled by Indy and Tennessee and doesn't really face a good test until December 26th at Green Bay.

Cowherd's "Uspet of the Week"
BuffaloWings replied to Roc City Bills Backer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Be prepared for the Bills having the upset of the week for the rest of the season. -
SI's Jeff Pearlman should be ashamed.
BuffaloWings replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You know...I'm all about the "we get respect when we start winning" thing, but this is enough. This guy attacks a city and a culture he obviously never experienced or will ever understand. Talk about a garbage story. -
I wouldn't say they LOVE the Bills, but more that the Bills are getting more & more attention. The 0-for-2010 is what precipitated the attention and these so-called experts just want to jump on the bus now and be one of the few that predicted the Bills to win a game before anyone else did. The comments from Glazer & Schefter tell me they're still on the "Bills are a joke" bandwagon.

It's a sign of improvement! It just brightened my gloomy day to see someone...anyone...rank Dallas lower than the Bills.

Jay Glazer Comments about Merriman
BuffaloWings replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sounds to me that the media is taking it more from Merriman's perspective than the team's point of view. Do they (specifically Glazer & Schefter) realize that the point of the waiver order is to allow the worst teams to try and get better, thus fielding a more competitive league? This isn't about what's best for the player. -
Other Merriman suitors = TB and MIA
BuffaloWings replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But how does the process work? My understanding was that it's somewhat secretive...the Chargers announce that he's been waived, so then anyone who wants to claim him does so - not knowing who else puts in a claim. It's really a tiebreaker of sorts once all of the claims are submitted. I didn't think that it's a linear process, so it's not like the contenders would know that Buffalo put in a claim (outside of any grapevine chatter). -
I doubt Gailey would've been that coy (especially AFTER they had already been awarded Merriman), but their times at GT/Maryland overlapped three seasons (2002-04). Was Merriman that highly-regard at Maryland? I really don't know, but since Gailey has forgotten more football than we can all remember combined, then I wouldn't be surprised if he simply didn't recall coaching against him.

With an 0-7 record thank God it's hockey season!
BuffaloWings replied to seq004's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First, Lalime isn't that bad. Second, did we actually think they'd be able to get a Ryan Miller clone for a backup goalie? -
I want what you're having.
-
Who's that? If you're thinking Shawne Merriman, then prepare to riot. I wouldn't be surprised to see Nix pass on him, thinking that he's done and doesn't really fit into the future plans. Plus, if he has some "inside info" from San Diego as some people say, then maybe there's something that proves to Buddy that he's not worth a shot.

Fixed.

Maybe the football gods are smiling on us
BuffaloWings replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yet extremely disturbing. Nobody is trying to tank these games. It's unprofessional and I really can't see Gailey having any of that. Besides, if you're cut because of this with the hopes that you land with a contending team, what would that team think of you? -
34-17...the record of our opponents

Seriously. God forbid that they actually win a few games. -
Time for NFL to ban Time out just before Kick!
BuffaloWings replied to turbobike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did you not read what I said? I've said a number of times in the past (twice in this thread) that it's a stupid tactic no matter the outcome. It's within the rules, so I can live with the outcome, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. This is just like a hitter in baseball dropping down a bunt in the 8th inning of a no-hitter. It's within the rules, but it's a silly, chickensh*t way to break up the no-hitter. -
Time for NFL to ban Time out just before Kick!
BuffaloWings replied to turbobike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good. So, now that I've had some time to think about this, here's my theory... The HC tells the line judge (or closest official) that he's going to call a timeout so the ref can be ready to blow the whistle. The HC calls the timeout as soon as the holder looks towards the center. Correct me if I'm wrong, but on every FG play, it looks like the holder will watch the kicker and wait to be sure he's ready, the kicker gives him a nod of the head, then the holder looks back to the line to tell the center to snap the ball. At the point where the holder looks to the center is when the HC calls for the timeout. This is probably a second (maybe less) before the ball is snapped, allowing the HC to wait until the last possible second. Again, I think the way to avoid this is to not allow the timeouts to be called from the sidelines. Maybe just limit that to FGs and extra points. As someone said, it's a chickensh*t ploy...no matter who does it. -
Buffalo fans should be happy today
BuffaloWings replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I say again...have you watched any part of the Bills' last two games after what's already transpired this year? If so, then you're entitled to your opinion. If not, then go back and watch the games, then come back and tell me this team hasn't progressed. This is why I hate people these days - all anyone is concerned about is quantity. I'm not making any argument that this is a "good" team, but to say that they haven't improved or progressed simply shows me that you're not paying attention.
