  1. If that happened, the Bills would be one of those sexy picks next year to make the playoffs. I wouldn't expect people to predict a division championship over the Jets & Patriots, but I can hear a lot of people saying how difficult the AFC East will be next year.
  2. I'm just....wow....the stupidity of these athletes never ends.
  3. I immediately knew they were going to lose.
  4. If only he was around 4 years ago...
  5. Don't you mean Lloyd Bentsen? It was shocking when Namath made his guarantee, now it's commonplace idiocy for players to guarantee a win.
  6. His clash with Dom will always stick in my mind, but he was one of the best hockey journalists out there. RIP, Jim.
  7. This is why power rankings are useless. They're just a forum for a columnist to show who he/she feels is the best team.
  8. It's more likely to be a Monday night game, since the Sunday night games are the #1 matchups. NBC worked that into the deal when they took over - what used to be the "prime" matchup on Mondays would be moved to Sunday nights. ESPN gets what was the old Sunday night schedule. Which other AFCE team goes there? If it's the Jets, my money's on the Jets getting the Thanksgiving game. That's in Week 17 - isn't there no Sunday night game (or is that Monday)? If there's no Sunday night game, it's possible they move the Bills-Jets to 4:15.
  9. Agreed - and I was thinking that as I was typing my post. I can definitely see them getting one MNF game next year, but I'd prefer that it doesn't happen.
  10. He's not anyone's kind of head coach. I always said that he was excellent when all he had to do was run the defense. When he was HC and had to manage everything, his teams underachieved.
  11. This. Though it's ironic...half the country won't be able to see it, anyway.
  12. True, but once the Bills get a MNF game on the schedule, it'll be against the Patriots, Jets, or Cowboys and they'll lose in some horrific, gut-wrenching fashion. I'll stick with all 1:00 Sunday games for now, thank you.
  13. This is what softens the blow for me. I really wanted to knock off the Steelers, but because it didn't affect anything but draft position for the Bills, I'll be over it almost as quick as Stevie will be.
  14. Well, talk about a killjoy.... Two of Buffalo's losses are on Trent Edwards, so really, Fitz is 2-7 this year. Of those 7 losses, 3 were in OT, and ALL of them came against teams leading (or tied for the lead in) their division. All three of those OT games could have been won by the Bills. Fitz may not be Manning/Brady-caliber just yet, but I'm starting to feel more & more like they don't need to take a QB in round 1. Address the front 7 and OL in the draft.
  15. Just speculating here, but Gailey probably thought it was too close to call and didn't want to risk losing a timeout. Hindsight being 20/20, it turned out to be the right call. Like I said above, Gailey probably didn't want to risk losing a timeout on a call that close. Also, don't just think that the ref "turned into a fan". I think he made the right move by letting the play go. It's what the officials should do on close plays when there's a question of things like being down by contact, whether or not there's a fumble, etc. You let it play out and then use replay to determine what really happened. It's up to the coach to challenge the play, if necessary, but if they don't, then c'est la vie.
  16. One can argue that the game did mean something. The Steelers are in the middle of the AFC North division race and have a monsterously huge game at Baltimore next week. Had Pittsburgh lost yesterday, next week's game would be pretty much a must-win for them and would have determined whether they could win the division or would have to settle for a WC spot. Since they won and are still tied with the Ravens, it hypes the game as the biggest of the year for both teams. In the grand scheme of the NFL, it's not a huge story, but it's pretty darn close.
  17. Unless they changed the rotation, then it's the NFC East's turn. The AFC East had the NFC East in 2007, West in 2008, South in 2009, and North this year.
  18. I don't know if I'd go that far. I saw two Steelers (one of them was the kicker) who could have had an angle on McKelvin once he got past Moats and the guy he was blocking. McKelvin had to slow down to get by Moats, so it's possible that one of those two Steelers could have made the play or slowed him down enough.
  19. I remember his dropsies issues last year and a little bit from earlier this year, but I had thought he was over it. Apparently not. I like what Tom Jackson said - sleep with the ball. Maybe that will work for him, maybe not. But nevertheless, I want to see how Stevie does next week. Keep going right back to him for big plays. Agreed....1 million percent. McKelvin runs like Fred Jackson - smooth and deceptively fast. You don't think he's going to run by you, but the next thing you know, you're staring at his name on the back of his jersey. Something happened during the bye week. It's as if the players realized they had nothing to lose and decided to leave it all out on the field. I love the play and wish we didn't have three-plus years of ultra-conservative Jauron. Three weeks ago, I was starting to wish John Fox and Marvin Lewis would be available for a DC opening. Now, I think these guys are getting it and playing better. I still think they need one more impact player on the front 7. If Kyle Williams can play like this, imagine what someone with the talent of an Orakpo, Mario Williams, or Bruce in his prime would do for this defense. I'd rather go for that in round 1 (right now) than use it on offense.
  20. I thought the play was around the 3:00 mark, so Gailey could have challenged it. I was listening to the game, so I have yet to see a slow-motion replay, but Mark Kelso thought it was worth a challenge at the time.
  21. Of your list, I'd only question St. Louis and Tampa Bay. The Rams are playing over their head (at least better than I expected) and Tampa Bay, while benefiting from a weak schedule, is still winning games. It would be a toss-up with Dallas, Oakland, Miami, and Cleveland as to who's better. I still think Minnesota's better, despite their record.
  22. Harrison will think he's screwed every time he gets a penalty. However, I think it's pretty obvious that the league is keeping a VERY close eye on him and every hit he makes. Based on his whiny comments after his first fine, I'll bet the refs were told to call anything close. Looking at the replay, I thought it was more of a spear to the chest than a facemask...i.e., he was leading with his head instead of keeping it up and facing the QB. This is what these players don't get - if you lead with your head, you're going to seriously hurt someone.
