Farve in more hot water (update : Lawsuit settled)
BuffaloWings replied to bkc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
She was diagnosed in 2004 and was supposedly making a complete recovery, last I heard. This is the whole power thing (just ask Eliot Spitzer). Favre probably figured he could get away with anything. Because of his image and reputation of being a family man, I wouldn't doubt that he did this stuff and hid behind his reputation. Thus, the women would look like gold diggers. Now that the Sterger thing came out, I'll bet he just settles out of court and pays the women something handsome to go away. -
Do the Bills pick 2nd in round 2?
BuffaloWings replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why not just stick with the first round order? I know all three teams finished with the same record, but if we go to great lengths to figure out who picks 2nd, 3rd, etc., then why not keep that order throughout the draft? It's not like this is fantasy football where they should do a snake draft or anything. -
Ok....let me ask this.....if Luck declares
BuffaloWings replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How much do you want to bet that someone is telling him what happened with Jake Locker - stock was high last year and he decided to stay. Now it's no guarantee that he'll be a first round pick. I think Luck declares. Personally, I like to see athletes graduate first. However, there's too much pressure these days to go get your money now. Luck can't turn down this opportunity. -
Just watching Newton in the Alabama game, he reminded me a lot of Roethlisberger - big, strong, and sheds tacklers a lot easier than you'd think. Add in Newton's mobility and arm and you have all the skills one could ask for. My only concerns with him are his intelligence and character. All of that said, drafting defense is an absolute must. This team is going nowhere if they continue to "stop" the run the way they did the past 2 weeks.

2011 opponents Home & Away *16 game season
BuffaloWings replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not quite - they beat the playoff-bound Saints yesterday. Not that it means they won't crash & burn, but Raheem Morris would have to do a better coaching job next year to keep them winning. -
Dare I say The last two weeks looked "intentional"
BuffaloWings replied to Lenigmusx's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Chan Gailey has too much integrity to tank a couple of games to get a better draft pick. -
J.P. going to the playoffs with the beard in tow
BuffaloWings replied to fairfaxbill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Disagree...100%. I know it's pretty pathetic that a team with a worse record than the Giants, Buccaneers, Chargers, Jaguars, & Raiders is going to the playoffs while those teams are not, but I still think it's an accomplishment to win your division. As bad as the NFC West is, I don't think it makes any sense to not allow a division winner into the playoffs. -

A Few Thoughts About The Game
BuffaloWings replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was in there. The only time I remember seeing him was after a play was over... And thanks right back to you, Bill. I've looked forward to and enjoyed your thoughts every Sunday evening/Monday morning. -
Since the NFL uses that to break ties for the playoffs (seedings, who gets in, etc.), one would think they'd do that for the bottom teams, too. Sorry if I'm being too logical.
-
So, how can they get the #2 pick? As I look at the standings, they have the same record as Cincy. Since they beat the Bengals, that would mean Cincy's in the 2 slot and the Bills are #3. No other result from today should matter.
-
Don't you mean #2 pick? Seedings are for the playoffs.

With the fourth pick in the 2011 NFL Draft....
BuffaloWings replied to DC Grid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I want an OL that knows how to block. -
Along with LT & Shonn Greene. It's sounding like the Jets are trying to lose.
-
That's quite a Cardinal/Badger-heavy draft. It's a tough call...but I think they need to go DT or LB. If there's someone out there with half the energy and toughness of Tank Carder, I'd snap them up in a second. I know it's a 7th-round pick, but I wasn't terribly impressed with Tolzien yesterday. If you replaced him with Andy Dalton, I could live with that.
-
Agreed. I don't know if I'd want to suffer for two more weeks if I was a Carolina fan. I think greed is taking over if they do this. They have a great product right now - why fix something that isn't broken?

Fitz didn't practice again today
BuffaloWings replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll take a QB controversy right now, as long as it's a "Wow, these two guys are playing so well, I don't know who should start!" controversy. It's been a while since we had a problem like that. -
In The Wake of Recent Disciplinary Action
BuffaloWings replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed - accepting gifts is not as bad as assault, murder, dog fighting/killing, etc....but it's still against the rules. I'll maintain that if someone breaks the rules or commits a crime in college (or while being recruited), what's to say they won't try to do it while playing professionally? It's a trust issue. If I was Buddy Nix, why would I want to invest my team's time & money on a guy who could eventually do something stupid and end up not playing for you (or in Vick's case - for someone else down the road)? Yes, he may have learned his lesson and never do anything again, but you need to trust him enough right now in order to draft that person. Unless there are other circumstances around it (every case could be different, of course), I'd have a hard time drafting a player whose morals come into question. -
Yeah - I'm sure you hated him when they were 5-1 a couple of years ago. Thank you. I know Fitz has looked really good and really bad, but this team needs a defense over everything else right now.

Rex Ryan named Fitz his 4th Pro Bowl QB...
BuffaloWings replied to Heitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The timing is interesting...considering Fitz will be throwing passes in NJ on Sunday. -
And this is why he'll be taken in the first round. Heisman Award, possible national champ, and his athleticism will outweigh his potential off-field "incidents". There are too many GMs out there that will not be concerned with anything off the field as they're making him their first round pick. His talents aside, I'd be concerned about his influences. If his father was pimping him out to SEC schools, what's to say he (or others around him) won't do something similarly conniving once Cam turns pro?
-
I probably wouldn't go so far as to say he's a thug & a thief, but I agree. After the pay-for-play stuff, I don't trust that he won't get himself into some sort of trouble. Maybe he's right, but of course Chizik is going to say that.

Mularky's name coming up for Denver HC
BuffaloWings replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Mularkey is another one of those good coordinators that may not necessarily be a good HC. He's had a good track record as an OC and has been very good with Matt Ryan. I've only seen him in Buffalo and he didn't have much of a tenure, so it would be quite interesting to see how he does if he gets another gig. -
Even then, I don't see him dropping that much. His stock is extremely high right now and a bad game vs Oregon won't hurt it that much.

I think if Gailey really wanted to see what Brohm had, he would have started him a few weeks ago. The Bills were done after the 0-8 start and we had become accustomed to what Fitz was giving us by the time they got to Minnesota, so maybe then or the Cleveland game would have been a good time to start him. Not that I don't mind Brohm getting a start, but 1 meaningless game for both teams isn't going to tell us much.
