  1. Amen. You could even make the argument that they wouldn't have been in position to tie the game without the catches he made. I liked his reaction...seriously. He's obviously upset about the drop and the other dropped passes, he knows he let his teammates down, and he shouldn't forget this. This shows me that he's a competitor. If there's any positives to take out of this is that the fans and teammates have his back and this should motivate him the next time he's in position to make a game-winning catch.
  2. After losing a game like this, you can point to about 35 different things that would have won the game for the Bills had the play happened differently. I agree with Buffalo Billy. When you drop over 6 passes thrown to you, you'd have to start taking the blame. It's what you get paid to do. I won't kill Stevie over this, but I need to see him bounce back next week. This is how you learn to win/lose games. Steve knows he lost the game. He won't drop that pass next time.
  3. Interesting...I wouldn't have thought of guys like Newton & Pryor playing a straight WR position. I could see them more in a wildcat formation like what Brad Smith does, but they'd be more of a gimmick than a full-time QB or WR. For the Bills right now, it's a waste of a roster spot when they need to upgrade the defense.
  4. Couldn't agree more. Now that the offense seems to be getting it (and I'm only looking at games since the bye, save for a couple of sub-par performances), it's time to upgrade the defense. I'm sure the league will catch on to Fitz and expose his weaknesses, but that's why we have an offensive-minded coach to adjust. I still think the Bills will have a top-5 pick, so it's time to start looking at the best player available for the DL or LB positions.
  5. There are some basketball teams complaining even when they pick 65 teams to play for the national championship. Then even those who get selected complain about their seeding/placement. You'll never make everyone happy, but at least you'll have a system to determine a more legitimate champion than this BCS garbage does. Regardless of the system that's put in place, the big problem is the money and who it goes to.
  6. In all seriousness, it's used everywhere...I've heard it in NFL stadiums, NHL rinks, MLB stadiums, etc. It's a popular song that everyone has the rights to play, so it shouldn't surprise you to hear the original song somewhere other than Buffalo.
  7. You're complaining as if nobody else does that.
  8. Plus, it would have to be guys that were expected to perform, but have disappointed. It looks like every single one of them would even be a good fantasy player, but have disappointed to the level of abysmal.
  9. They won those games despite Jauron. When you implement a brand new system on offense AND defense, it doesn't sink in by Week 3. So, it has to be a "we'll get worse before we get better" thing. I admit that I was optimistic before Week 1 and naive to think that this team will finally turn around right away. But when you have time to look back at 10 games and realize what seemed to happen, it makes more sense that it took this long (presuming they're on the right track).
  10. Correct. Baltimore Maybe I'm changing my mind about this "not the long-term answer" thing, but I'll still wait a little while.
  11. Disagree. He's easily the best analyst on TV right now. He knows what he's talking about and he doesn't even sound arrogant about it. As for Gus Johnson, I like his enthusiasm. Maybe a bit over the top at times, but I'd rather hear that than a stiff like Buck.
  12. I just want them to keep playing hard and fighting. They won't win out, but if they can slip in a W over the Steelers, Patriots, or Jets, that would make my year. I still think they need to play like there's nothing to lose, draft order be damned.
  13. This. I was on the bandwagon a few weeks ago to consider whether or not the DC should be replaced, but like Gailey, we have to give this staff some time. If the players start to get it and show enough improvement (read: putting up a whale of an effort against the elite teams they play...NE, Pit, NYJ), then we can consider keeping Edwards around. When you're unit is improving, THAT'S when you want the continuity in the coaching staff. If the defense takes steps backwards and gets rolled by those elite teams, then they may want to think about bringing in someone else to run the show.
  14. Yes, because we're all of the same physical stature as Roethlisberger. Sure, it may have come as a surprise to him and I still think it was a legitimate reason to eject Seymour, but I still think it was a flop.
  15. For what it's worth, Mark Kelso said before the game that he thought the defense was finally starting to "get it" when it comes to the 3-4. It didn't appear that way in the first half, but it sounded like they were at least getting some pressure on Palmer. If this defense keeps improving over the rest of the season, I'd see no reason to replace Edwards.
  16. Please....he's been hit harder by DLs and LBs and stayed up. It was clearly a flop to draw the flag. That was probably a legitimate reason for the ejection, but c'mon - this isn't hockey.
  17. 10 penalties today, though I think most of them were in the first half.
  18. Maybe there's a fix and maybe Chan should have protested (I've never seen a head coach ejected from a game), but they SHOULD DEFINITELY send this to the league. The Bills won the game, so it's a moot point, but this has to be prevented with other teams - knowing our luck, someone like the Jets or Patriots will benefit from this.
  19. Yes, but explain to us how that is relevant to today.
  20. We're all assuming that the drunk tackled the kid because the kid was wearing a Jets jersey, because the only account is from the kid's father. Had the police been involved, we likely would have heard more based on witness accounts...but the parent's account is all we know. That said, I think this guy is reading too much into it. The parents probably legitimately don't want anything - no limelight, no special treatment - just the hope that their son can once again enjoy attending a football game. It was good of the Jets to offer an all-expenses paid trip. It would probably be good of the Browns to offer the same thing (with a security escort back to their car), but this blogger doesn't need to get into a conspiracy theory. Regardless, it doesn't matter whether the guy was drunk or actually intended on attacking the kid. This stuff needs to be prevented.
  21. This is precisely why I see Luck declaring for the draft this year. Someone will tell him his stock is high right now, so get out while you can. Yes, Locker's playing hurt, but that's not the point. Luck's stock is too high for him to not pass this up.
  22. I've said in the past that - while Fitz has been a breath of fresh air to the QB position since September - I don't think he's the long-term answer. I would like to think it's as cut-and-dried as thinking if Luck (or your top choice for a QB) is there, you take him, otherwise go for a pass-rushing LB/DE. We've fallen in love with Fitz, but be careful...I don't think he's the franchise QB with all of the tools. Maybe he'd get better with Chan in charge, but we don't know that. I think the question that Chan & Buddy have to answer is whether or not they want a QB now or next year. For argument's sake, let's say they want Andrew Luck. If Luck enters the draft and they have a chance to get him, it's a no-brainer. If he doesn't leave Stanford, then what? Do they take a Locker or Mallett because they're available now? Do they take a pass-rushing LB/DE and hope that Luck is available in the 2012 draft? I really doubt that he would be available, since the Bills would probably improve as a team and win a few more games...thus, missing out on Luck and being "stuck" with Fitzpatrick or another QB that they really didn't want. Timing is everything and these are the decisions that make or break a GM's job.
  23. That would probably be my gut instinct, too...and it's easier to say what you'd do in a spot like that. I don't have any kids, but I would imagine parental instincts would kick in and protect the kid (this is what my friends with kids have said to me - protecting the kid comes first, kicking arse comes second).
