  1. It makes you wonder what people are thinking these days...and being drunk is no excuse for tackling an 8-year-old because he's a fan of the opposition. I've been harassed at events where I'm the fan of the visiting team, but I'm over 30 years older than that kid. I probably would've done the same thing if I were the Dad - get the kid to safety and get yourselves out of there. It seems like in a lot of the stories I hear these days, the police/stadium security aren't helpful unless they see the act themselves.
  2. I'm rooting for the Bills to win. And the Patriots, Jets, Dolphins, & Cowboys to lose.
  3. A GM would have to be out of his mind to give Philly a #1 for Kolb. I'd say a 3rd-rounder at best. If Vick keeps playing well and Philly extends him, the Eagles would have no leverage for wanting a huge amount for Kolb...especially the way they keep claiming how he's starter material.
  4. It's not like his comment was well thought-out or anything. Keep in mind a lot of these players speak before thinking. Pryor probably opened his mouth and said whatever came to his mind before realizing how silly it would make him look (if he even realized that). I wouldn't want the Bills to draft him because he's apparently not the brightest bulb on the tree, not because he truly believes that everyone in this world kills someone.
  5. That was almost as good as Plaxico Burress making a diving catch, placing the ball on the ground w/o being touched, then jumping up to celebrate his remarkable achievement.
  6. The video of this should be shown to anyone who hot-dogs it into the end zone, even if there was no chance that a defender would catch them. And it's Don Beebe.
  7. That wasn't my point - I was simply stating that because Vick served time (regardless of the crime), how do we know that he's changed? It has nothing to do with his specific crime. If Donte Stallworth served jail time because of his DWI and then came back into the league, I'd wonder the same thing.
  8. Definitely was nice to see that and I think Berman was waiting to do this for a few weeks. He would have given a tribute to any other team that took 9 games to get off the schneid, but he went a little further because it was the Bills. As for Patrick, he's unwatchable now. He's only concerned with how he looks instead of giving us the highlights.
  9. I see the same smirk and wonder, also. Maybe that's just his expression and it means nothing. Maybe he's feeding the PR lines because he has to - if he says anything that could be taken as remotely offensive or inappropriate, he'd be lambasted. Someone's advising him to say the right things, because if he didn't, he'd get about as many breaks as McNabb has in his career.
  10. What does this really mean? Does this mean he's a "changed man" and he's now someone to root for just because he served time? There are criminals that serve their time and go right back into the joint because they didn't learn their lesson. Who's to say that Vick isn't doing something illegal again we don't know about? I certainly hope that's not the case, but unless you're Andy Reid or Vick's fiancee (even then you may not know), we don't know how much he has changed, if at all. Call me cynical, but we don't have any reason to believe that he's 100% changed because he served his time. That said, I really would like to believe that he did learn his lesson and he has turned things around. The man is one of the most talented athletes we've ever seen and it would be a travesty if he wasted his talents. He told Suzy Kolber that everything he does is about his fiancee and his kids...it's not about him anymore. That's a positive sign to me. As for the thread, perhaps Tom Brady is the closest to Vick in the MVP race right now, but there's still almost half the season left. If they gave the award for First Half MVP, then Vick would be the likely candidate. I also don't see any other one player outside of Brady or Matt Ryan that has meant more to their team.
  11. Since Pete Metzelaars retired? EDIT: Since Jay Riemersma retired?
  12. Well, considering the reputation that Bills fans are getting, this isn't too surprising. Maybe over the top, but it's not surprising that in-stadium security is being scrutinized. My wife's co-worker (Jacksonville fan, believe it or not) went to the Jags game in October with his wife...just the two of them, I believe. They got harassed so much before and during the game, his wife didn't feel safe.
  13. I understand the attitude a player needs, but considering that Fitz has been with 3 teams in 6 years, do you really think that he thinks he's more than a backup? He was signed last off-season to be just that and he came into 2010 as the backup to Trent. My guess is that he *wants* to be a starter and feels that he *can* start, but knows there are more talented QBs in the league that have better skills than he does. If so, this clearly doesn't deter him from putting out 130% effort every week.
  14. I'm a little surprised that the Fitz bandwagon was as big as it was. Fitz is a career backup - he'd probably be the first to admit that, too. This is similar to the feeling that everyone's favorite player is the backup QB. Compared to what Trent Edwards was doing for this team, Ryan Fitzpatrick is looking like Joe Montana. Don't get me wrong, it's been fun watching Fitz play with guts & heart, but when you compare him to the scared, confidence-lacking Edwards, he does look Hall of Fame-like. Fitz has been with several teams for a reason. He's not terribly accurate and his arm strength is ok (not good, just ok). He showed the same "flashes" when he backed up Marc Bulger in St. Louis - if we all remember, he came on like gangbusters, but faded once defenses got a book on him. We're seeing a similar trend now...once the opposition has film on him with this offense, they can adjust and play him accordingly. He just doesn't have the physical tools (size, arm strength, speed) that a "franchise" QB has. Combine all of those with Fitz's intelligence, heart, and a good OL and you have that franchise QB.
  15. That bothered me, too. It was 4th & 2 - maybe they didn't feel they had the right personnel on the field, but you don't give the offense a chance to think about the play. When you end up having a LB cover Calvin Johnson, someone wasn't paying attention or didn't call the right adjustments.
  16. Interesting about the weather...John Lynch on Fox kept on saying how the Bills needed to be more aggressive, even with the lead. I wonder if he knew it was rainy & windy. Regarding the comment, you can't not think that these guys love Fitz. Given what these guys have had over the past few years, it's refreshing to see them playing hard for a QB who has no fear.
  17. Exactly, though I think CBS would've done the same thing if it was the Jets or Patriots.
  18. I was ready to bask in the glow, but Fox-23 in Albany cut away to commercials just before they took the last snap. Stupid Fox. All they wanted to do was show their commercials and go to the Giants.
  19. In general, none of us have any reason to believe what he says anymore when it comes to retirement. However, with the Sterger stuff and the soap opera around the Vikings locker room and Favre's constant nagging injuries, I think he's done. It is something that he's still playing and winning a few games with said injuries (who knows how hurt he really is, though), but I can't see this going on after 2010.
  20. God forbid they try and win. I really don't think winning 1 or 2 games this year will drop them that much. OK, so if they fall to the 3rd spot, they won't get the best possible player, but they'll get a chance at a pretty darn good one to fill a glaring hole. I wish all of you would stop whining about the draft position. They'll get whatever they get.
  21. Now I understand the benefit of the Time Warner-NFL dispute.
  22. I'm not buying this yet. It's just conjecture by whoever wrote the article that he's declaring. Until I hear it from Andrew himself, I won't believe it.
  23. Unless they had a trademarked name. For example, if there was a restaurant or bar called "Dallas Cowboys Watering Hole", the owner could buy it and would be protected by the Anti-Cybersquatting Act. The owner would then be free to do what he wants with the domain name.
  24. The state needs money - this is a ploy.
  25. Plus there could be a sky-high cap that the Bills are $80 million under, but the Bills wouldn't do it because they have their own budget.
