Here we go again...another "fan" rooting for them to lose so they can draft an unproven QB.
-
At least they have company at the bottom.
-
First of all, this is a power poll/ranking, not a prediction of who ends up with the first pick of the 2012 draft. The guy is just saying he thinks the Bills are the weakest team and the biggest need is QB...which I also happen to disagree with. Until their run D actually shows us something, that's the weakest part of the team. Besides, as others have said, there are teams with more question marks than the Bills.

His weight makes up for Maybin's.

This. Even one of the Albany area sports talk guys didn't think Steve Johnson was much of anything until a Bills fan called and gave him Steve's numbers from last year. Let the media keep making mistakes. It shows they're not doing their job well enough. Once the Bills start winning, they'll get things right.

If you mean Kris Jenkins, he retired.

Is this like the luxury tax in MLB? I know that doesn't exactly work as designed because the Yankees still get enough revenue to almost offset what they pay out, but since the NFL has an actual cap, I'm wondering how much this helps the smaller, less-revenue-generating markets.

NFL Games will be longer this season

Big plays don't happen that often - and it would likely happen *because* the offense is rushing to get the next play in and the defense isn't ready or deployed for it. Most of the time, the offense does a quick run or a QB sneak just to get the play in, anyway. If you take this rule away, you won't see this type of big play. I'd be willing to take the chance of losing a big play. Besides, this is all to get the calls right. It would just be the Bills' luck to have the Patriots get away with a play and score on the next one - the officials can easily review the previous play and set the clock to where it should have been. They already do. There's one at every game. If I'm correct, the replay official literally looks at every play. It's only within the last 2 minutes of each half that he notifies the on-field referee that a play needs to be reviewed. Otherwise, it's up to the coaches to challenge. One would hope that they would do the same thing for every score - review it quickly and only notify the referee if there's something amiss. -
Rashard Mendenhall sues sponsor

I won't go so far as to tell Mendenhall to keep his mouth shut, but perhaps he should realize what he said/tweeted before sponsors drop him in this ultra-sensitive society. -

This brings up the whole "play cannot be reviewed once the next play starts" thing...I hate it. Why is it set in stone that once the next play starts - especially something like a PAT - that the previous play can't be reviewed? Do we not have replay to show where the clock was when the next play started? -
James Harrison... WHAT?!?!?!?!?!
BuffaloWings replied to AReed Deep For 7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It may not be the best example, but I can remember three different times the Bills had him wrapped up for a sack and he squirmed away to get positive yardage. Yes, their defense is their life, but "experts" place Roethlisberger in an elite status because of plays like that. -
Mike Vrabel retires; joins Ohio State staff

Hammer, meet the nail's head. Every D-I school has violated the rules in some fashion, knowingly or not. The ones that win championships come under more scrutiny. -
James Harrison... WHAT?!?!?!?!?!
BuffaloWings replied to AReed Deep For 7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doesn't matter. Whether or not anyone believes Goodell is ruining the game, that doesn't mean you should publicly lambaste the guy with the types of comments that Harrison supposedly said. If you think your company's CEO is a completely ignorant & arrogant jerk, do you go out in public (facebook, twitter, or even at happy hour w/other executives around) and say so? I didn't think so. It's basically career suicide. He's not a top-tier QB because of his stats. He wins games - that's all the Steelers and their fans care about. If Roethlisberger played in Buffalo, you'd be claiming to the world that he's a top-tier QB. -
Toronto Argonauts choose the wrong slogan

The key is that DD decided it was easier to just pull the ad. If someone at Dunkin Donuts had any stones, they would have kept the ad running. -
James Harrison... WHAT?!?!?!?!?!

He'll be run out of the league if he keeps opening his mouth like this...not from suspension, but from apathy. Nobody will want him on their team if he keeps this up. -
This is about the only reason I can see it getting done soon. I told my wife last week that I thought a deal would be done w/in the next 2 weeks because there's so much money to be lost, otherwise.
-
Quoting from the article: As one NFL owner said this weekend, there's "no reason to believe it won't get done." Other people familiar with the talks now think an agreement in principle will be put in place in the next seven to 10 days, a handshake deal that would allow each side to ratify the deal to start the 2011 season. However, one member of the players' negotiating team who has been a constant presence at the table said that players feel they have made significant concessions and overtures "that have not been reciprocated." He stated that negotiations Wednesday and Thursday will be the most telling days on whether an agreement indeed will be finalized within the July 21 time frame because "we've basically reached the limits of compromise." Mort & Schefter have their bases covered. If the deal gets done, they can claim credit for reporting it first. If it doesn't get done, they can claim credit for reporting it first. I'll believe it when I see it.

It was just announced today that the Giants will not be training at UAlbany this year. They cite the lockout and scheduling as the main reasons, so they will simply do their training in East Rutherford. Linky from Albany TU One of the reasons the Giants pulled out was due to logistics and timing. A local news story last night said that it would take about 2 weeks to move everything from NJ to Albany and since camp was supposed to start in a few weeks and there's no deal yet, they weren't sure if camp would take place. I told someone today that I wouldn't be surprised if this is done for all 32 teams. So, what are the chances that the Bills pull out of SJF for similar reasons?

You coulda stopped right there. Part of ESPN's job is to create news, so I don't fault them for acting like chicken little. What drives me to insanity is the constant updates of nothing. We get a report pretty much every day of how some people met and talked about this and that, but at the end it's "We're still far away from a deal"/ And speaking of Favre, I thought I read somewhere that he was interested in playing in 2011....

I usually try to see the Bills around Columbus Day weekend - sucks that the Sabres are in Europe then. I was hoping for one of those all-Buffalo weekends.
-
It wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't announce it, then did a whole "no comment" thing for a month afterward.
-
I wouldn't go that far. I won't get into the details of a satellite vs. cable TV debate, but it's not like fans will blindly flock to DirectTV just to watch 10-12 games every Sunday and one on Thursday nights. I just don't see it happening easily. Personally, I don't like the Thursday game every week. It won't matter too much to me, since the Bills wouldn't likely be on that schedule and if they're on NFLN (which is most likely to happen), I won't see it. But from a fan's perspective, I don't think we should be inundated with it all week long. The allure of the NFL is to give up your Sundays to relax and enjoy it. From the team's perspective, I think it really can be a pain in the toukas with respect to game-planning, travel, and other logistics. Let's stick with Sundays. The occasional Thursday game is ok (along with Thanksgiving), but let's not overdo it.

One word....decaf.

Hard to tell if there's a difference from a color-blind individual, but if it's the dark blue as shown in the uniform mock-ups, I'd prefer that over the lighter blue that the throwback uniforms had. I still wish they'd keep the red helmet. To me, that signifies the best era in team history (well, at least since I've been alive). I think people are trying too hard to pay tribute to the past these days, so I'd prefer to see something new - and yes, I thought the recent uniforms sucked.
