But when they do it for 9 years and the coach knows it and knows it's illegal, yet does nothing.... OSU won't make a move until after this coming season and Pryor's gone after then, anyway. He should have seen the writing on the wall and jumped to the pros while he could. Besides, if Rich-Rod couldn't handle Michigan, there's no way he'll survive Ohio St.

Individual Game tickets going on sale
BuffaloWings replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I got the Group Ticket flier in the mail yesterday, but I'm approaching things differently this year. I'm not thrilled about shelling out my money just yet for tickets to a game that isn't even guaranteed to happen. I usually organize this with my friends, but I might have to see if any of them want to even bother until we hear the lockout is lifted and an agreement is in place. -
No NFL? What are your options?
BuffaloWings replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd really like to believe this. I think it's one of two things... One (or maybe both) side(s) of the fence will panic when they realize they'll be without their million/billion-dollar revenues/paychecks, hence they'll cave to the other side and we have a season. OR Both sides will continue their stubborn/spoiled brat personalities, thinking that they can't possibly be wrong. We'll get to October and all realize there won't be a season. Either way, both sides will continue to act like immature children. -

Expect an Increase in Crime if Season is Lost
BuffaloWings replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. Ray's comments are not only ignorant, but pretty arrogant. This is a sport that grabs our attention for a 6-hour time frame once a week. Don't include all of the analysis, fantasy football stuff, and other NFL business that happens during the week since that doesn't matter to the "type of people" Ray is referring to. It's not THAT big of a deal. If this was baseball, then it's a different story. At least that happens every day from early April to October/November. -
Turn out the lights, the party's over
BuffaloWings replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When they come to an agreement and say "We want our fans to enjoy this great game, so we worked this out for them." In that same vein, pretty much any other sport is dying. It's our society that's the problem - parents either want the kids to just win or develop themselves into a great player so they can play professionally and make tons of money. I don't see it first hand, but from what my friends and co-workers tell me, it's much worse than when I was a kid in the late 70s & early 80s. -
I love this. I bet a lot of coaches would have said something along the lines of "Well, we had full confidence in our QB, but it just didn't work out." or something about how they had misinformation. Chan is very stand-up.

This is why I like Gruden. He doesn't care about stats - hell, he probably doesn't even look at them - but he just gives the short of it and isn't very long-winded. Seems like he looks at players to see what they *can* be, not what they have been.

Best Available Players for 2nd

I'm at the point now where I'd be happy with anyone but a QB or WR. -
Round 1 (Pick #3): DT Marcell Dareus - University of Alabama
BuffaloWings replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Smart pick - they made the right move once Miller was off the board. As soon as I saw Newton picked, I was content. The only thing that would have bothered me was if they picked AJ Green...someone they don't need. The Bills FINALLY picked a position of need (not that it was hard) and seemed to go with the best guy available. Paging Mr. Brady...Mr. Tom Brady...a beast of a lineman is coming. -
Yes - especially since they're coming off of a 4-12 season. Do you want another bloodletting on national TV? I know they improved during the second half, but the NFL isn't stupid in this regard. Why would they schedule a 4-12 team to play an elite team? The idea is to actually get people to watch...hence the sexy matchup (on paper, at least). PFT's take is interesting - all five teams without a primetime game (Tennessee, Buffalo, Cincy, Arizona, and Carolina) have unsettled QB situations...with apologies to Fitz.
-
I still think it's funny they're doing this - I know there are logistics that need to be taken care of with the assumption that the season is still on, but this is almost like setting the wedding date when you already have cold feet.
-
Agreed. The league will get a book on Enroth, then we'll see how he does. For now, I don't mind it. He played a HELL of a game yesterday in what's been the biggest game for this team all year. Miller will be back for the playoffs (if they get there), but I'm enjoying this kid.
-
And it won't be before round 4, either. I just don't know if the Bills need to go QB in the early rounds. Too many defensive holes.
-
Perhaps we can define public and private. Being challenged privately tells me that the coach has a one-on-one conversation with the player and telling that he needs to be better. You can still be challenged publicly without this getting to the media/fans. I've never played organized football, but I would imagine that if you're being called out in front of your teammates, THAT would be pretty embarrassing...thus, quite motivating.

QB Dalton Should Be Concidered !!
BuffaloWings replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously....how hard is it to do a Google search for the correct spelling of a word? -

I apologize if I missed anyone saying this, but through all of this BS, we're watching billionaires shut out millionaires because the billionaires aren't getting enough of the pie. Stop it. I know it's hard to do so, but keep it all out of the public so all of us fans that pay your ridiculous prices don't have to hear your whining about who's showing who how much they make. I don't side with anyone. I don't care what it takes...just give me football in the fall so I can escape real life every Sunday.

Bills Spoke To 4 QBs at Combine
BuffaloWings replied to BiggieScooby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And if they're not there by 3 or 4, I hope they don't reach. I can live with someone like Dalton or Kaepernick, but I'd want to make sure they address the defensive and OL needs first. -
I side with the fans... In a way, I don't care about what the players & owners decide. They're all making more than everyone on this board combined, so just figure out a way to share the sandbox so we can all be happy.
-
This tells me they're starting to dump salary with the contracts they have in Revis, Edwards, Moss, and will eventually be giving to Sanchez. That said, Taylor is almost retired, Woody is constantly hurt, Jenkins is a question mark because of injury, and Gholston hasn't turned out to be what they wanted. What I'm afraid of is that the Bills pick up Gholston, then think they have the defensive pieces in place...then pick Newton at #3.

Post-Combine: Who do YOU want to draft @ #3
BuffaloWings replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think the combine results matter (which is why I think the whole weekend is a waste of time). The Bills need to draft defense, period...someone who can rush the passer or stop the run. -
Dolphins looking to join the rank of the *Patriots
BuffaloWings replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Players' salaries are out of control because (in part) the owners shell out millions to unproven rookies. Now they want an 18-game schedule to help pay for that. Perhaps if they didn't give a $10 million signing bonus or didn't give $15 million guaranteed, we wouldn't be in this situation. I suppose this shows the power of the NFLPA. "If you don't want <the greatest player since sliced bread> on your team, we can find someone else he'll play for."
