  1. So why do you want to trade a top ten pick who's only 24? Answer probably is becasue he's not that good, which I think other teams have also figured out. Lynch is one mistake away from a year suspension. Magahee also showed more in his last year with the Bill's than Lynch has shown so far. I'm all for trading Lynch, but it's not likely you'll get more than a 4th rounder for him, same with Whitner. If you're OK with getting a 4th rounder or so, then go for it, but don't expect more. I probably would make the trade for either of them for a 4th, I'm just not expecting more than that. You just can't trade players in the NFL for low round draft picks as there's no takers. Teams value picks too much. The only exceptions to that rule is when it involves a player who is still playing very well, but wants out for reasons more about not fitting in. (i..e Cutler, Peters, Branlon Edwards, Magahee)
  2. Then how do you explain for years Marv Levy ran the easiest camp in the league. Todays game has changed with all the mini camps etc, not so sure you need a hard training camp with lots of hitting. Maybe being soft you could argue that a player isn't playing with a "boo boo" but torn ligiments, broken bones isn't exactly playing soft. I think as others have stated, more to do with the Bill's drafting smaller players.
  3. How does the New World Channel site work? Where are the links. Does the $5 payments to view the game actually work?
  4. Actually from what I've read I think the opposite is true. He tells the media nothing, but is up front with the players. That's why supposedly one of the reasons they like him so much. Having said that, I don't think the Bill's need to tel lRunyon anything in this situation.
  5. Depends who the coach is. Mike Mularky and Greg Williams didn't make much different. Unless RW is ready ot hire and big name and pay for it, not much difference I'm afriad!
  6. And you know this how??? If you really do know this, my suggestion to you would be quit your day job, and become an NFL coach. Until that happens give them time, see how they are looking by year end. The best thing a team can do to never improve is to continuously change players. If you keep replacing players with new players drafted or as FA, you'll never improve. Granted you also need to know when to cut your losses on someone, but at this point, Mededith or Bell are not anywhere near that point yet. Teams also can't afford stars at every position, you take them where you get them and have role players fill in the openings.
  7. Either way, not AVP's fault. Agree though overall offense if offensive! I think we're still one tackle and getting more experience away from a decent O line, and certainly QB play has been rather poor. Some of that is due to poor O-line, but not all. I also wouldn't be upset if we were to trade Lynch, though I doubt we'd get much in return.
  8. Talk is cheap. Why wouldn't Goodell tell them he wants a team over there. Will it happen, maybe eventually IF there's enough interest for a few teams. One team makes little sense.
  9. I've never heard of the employee hiring the boss. Sounds like a very dicey way to do things. Guess that will be happening in Buffalo as "dicey" is RW's middle name I will say, I do wish the emplyee hiring the boss concept would catch on though!
  10. My choice isn't listed, new coach and GM, BUT make RB president. RW supposedly won't give all the power to one person again. That prevents that from happening as the GM still would have to somewhat answer to RB. Let the GM have all decisions around football, but the GM isn't going to be taking signs away from fans, or essentially putting gag orders on coaches without RB OK'ing it.
  11. Back in the late 70's some Giant fan hired a plane to fly over Giant Stadium with a banner that said to the effect: "25 years of lousy football" I'd say the billboard is tame compared to other things done over the years.
  12. I seriously doubt RB is calling the shots on what players to sign, draft and release. That is being done by TM and JG, so call the front office bad, but the probelm isn't RB, it's elsewhere.
  13. I wouldn't have a problem bringing in someone like Metzelars as at least he's show nhe's willing to put the effort int ocoaching. But mentioning name of people who have never coached and think they will be a good coach is idiotic. It really is amazing how many stupid people are out there.
  14. Can't recall where I heard this, online or on the radio, but there is like only one coach ever to win a Super Bowl that was older than 50 years old. That goes along with the re-tread concept as most of these guys after having success with their first team, by the time they make it to their second team, they are already over 50. Hence never win it again. Essentially the point of this was coaching is a young mans game. So what's the secret, have a good group of scouts and front office that signs good players so the young coach can develop and win.
  15. Oh god here we go again!! Why would a perso nwho doesn't need to money want to give up all his free time to coach? Peopel argue how interested Jim is how he comes to al lthe games. I'd come to the games to if I could stand on the sideline and eat and drink in the Jim Kelly suite for free. Kelly also is not exactly known to be a rocket scientist either. Jim could make a good potential owner, but to argue that he's done anything to prove he'd be a good coach is ridiculious. How can I say that, casue he's never coached a day in his life, so h'e shown nothign as a coach. And now you want him to be the next coach. Actually if I had to choose between Kelly and DJ I'd take DJ.
  16. The problem with special teams is BA is working with too many new players, particually after all the injuries. That's one of the things I've read and heard over the years. Speical teams these days is much harder to be good as there's too much roster turnover from year to year. Last years special team players either left to get a shot at a starting job with another team, or they are now your own starters replacing someone else who left. Even though that kept happening to the Bill's every year, BA somehow seemed to overcome it. I think this year it's finally caught up to him. In the old days, pre-free agency your special team players were around for many years, Mark Pike Steve Tasker, etc. In todays NFL how many people think Tasker would have spent his entire career in Buffalo?
  17. I can't decide if you're being serious or sarcastic, but either way, I do agree with your comments and RW would be correct in statrng that. RW has as much Al Davis in him as does Jerry Jones, Snyder, and a host of others. The difference is they have better financial situations to work within. RW absolutely wants to win. But he's not will to spend as much money as others are to get there. What would happen if RW rasied season ticket prices by $50 per game to be more inline with other teams, how many could afford it and how many would pay it?
  18. People keep saying we need a football guy in charge. That's only good if that person knows what they are doing. What if three years ago RW put a "football guy" in charge like John Guy. Would we be better today? As was earlier stated, very likely football decisions; who to draft, what free agents to sign are made by TM and JG respectively. RB probably will give the final approval, or if there's a asplit decision, may weigh in or get the opinion of others. But I highly doubt he's making very many football decisions. A number of posters have also commented what a great draft we had this past spring. Now everyone is ripping TM. Which is it, did TM have a good draft or not?? The same person now we want ot run out of town. Actually I think TM has done alright with his drafts, maybe not great where as JG has been horrific. I kind of like having a non-football person over seeing everything as he's less likely to have some pre-concieved opinion and likely will listen more to input from others. Is it bad that a non football guy is giving the final approval as I suggest? Only if the reccommendations he's given are bad. Would a football person be in a better position to know he's being given bad advice? Yes absolutely, but if a football person were in charge, the people under him like TM and JG are most likely going to be giving advice that they know will be accepted by the boss. Just like any company, they become the bosses "Yes men" TM and JG were both reporting to a football man in TD, how's those years work out. Having said all that, it's very likely that if the Bills were to bring in a football person, that new person would become the GM and RB may become the president. RW claimed that after TD, the problem was he let one person have too much power, and he wouldn't repeat that mistake. Well having RB be the president and someone else GM still leaves some checks and balances in the system.
  19. If the Brown family in Cinn never got suspended, RW is no where close to how things were there. New Orleans was terrible for a long time as was Indy and NE
  20. Based on prior years, the trade deadline is either sometime this week or at the latest mid next week. It usually hase been aroundthe 17th or so every other year.
  21. So what. What if we had a real football guy like Modrak or John Guy as the GM, would that make us better. If a football guy is ultimately overall in chage, then he's going to make all the final decisiions with no one to justify it to. IF you have a really good one then no problems, But if he's not one of the half dozen or so top notch ones, I think it's better having someone else as "tie breaker" If the Bills were to bring in a Cowler type, then I don't think he'd answer to RB anyway, but still would have no problems with RB as the president. Personally I have little problems with the job he's done. The problem has been with the decision making of the football men. And I agre that if RB was a football person then as GM he'd be making those decisions instead. But again that's only good if he's good.
  22. I agree particually about Guy. Modrak has done a little better, but guy's free agents pickup have been horrific. I'd have no problem making RB president either, and let him be the tie breaker.
  23. I'll tell you one thing, there's alot worse things spilled in the stadium parking lot. On another note, one time I went on a bus trip to a Bills game. There was problem with the bus company so we ended up with two of these airport type shuttle busses, but only one with a toilet. Well since the bus is half the size, the toilet is sized appropriately. But still had 45 people or so using it. By the time the game ended, it was full within 1/2 inch of the top, and no longer usable. On the way back from the game, the driver pulled over on 219, the second bus pulled up behind to kind of shield the view from passing cars. Driver got out and pulled the cork. Imagine finding that on the side of the road. People probalby were reporting big foot was in the area. PS Enjoy the turkey!!
  24. I guess I don't understand why everyone thinks it so important to have a "fooball mind" as the GM. What if that football mind was Modrak or John Guy, would that be better. Yeah it's great if you can pick a good GM, then again RB would look like a genius if everyone of Guy's and Modraks picks were to work out. You can argue that if RB was a football mind then he'd know whether Guy and Modrak's suggestions were good or not and that's true. But in reality if a football mind is in the top position, then he's going to pick the player he thinks are best. So again it just goes ina big circle and comes back to if they guy making the choice in players picks the right ones everyone else looks great too. If not regardless of what position he's in, everyone else also looks bad.
