  1. Exactly the problem. Anything higher than a 6th rounder moved to PS is likely to get grabbed up. Add to that, regardless how good/bad you think Mitch is, he still is better than a rookie 5th/6th rounder this fall if Allen were to get hurt and miss a couple games. Maybe if the guy sits at least on year on PS preferably two years, I'd trust a guy like that to be Allen's backup rather than cast off like Mitch. Even then if he's on PS for 2024, I believe his contract would end then next March unless he agrees to re-up with Bills. But why would a guy resign when he knows he's not likely to make the roster in 2025 either, he'd be better off signing elsewhere where he has a better shot. Can't see how any young development QB would want to sign in Buffalo when they know they have no shot of ever starting. These guys need to go to teams like in 2023 Giants, NE, Pitt, where you're not going in as the #!, but you also know the #1 QB is on shaky ground, and their #2 has been around the block a few times himself so you could end up becoming the starter with just a little bit of luck and good play on your part. You draft him, yes the Bills have him for 2024, but once on PS, low odds of keeping him beyond this year.
  2. And then came back and won the AFC East and #2 seed
  3. I think superstar QB's can take good WR's and make them look much better. They don't need to super great guy so think Allen will be fine with whoever is out there.
  4. I wonder if was more simply that Diggs didn't like Allen getting all the attention and being the face of the franchise. He felt he should be getting more credit. Add to that less targets.
  5. When I first saw the title of the thread I was hoping that Poyer was going to explain what happened on the kick, but not a word about that. To me that is the bigger question mark in that whole situation. As someone else in the thread pointed out the Pats scored a TD with 16 seconds left so really hard to say the played the wrong defense. But a squib kick would have eaten into that time. In the thread on the new kickoff rules I questioned with the new rules will squib kicks even be done anymore and probably not as technically the ball first touched the ground in what do they call it the dead zone?? As a result believe the receiving team would now have the ball at the 40 so doubtful they'd be done anymore??
  6. Maybe coaching yes, but did you ever consider he was also saying the players were all better? But I get it, that wouldn't fit your narrative.
  7. Naw! If we're going secondary in round 1, the guy I want is the CB from Alabama. He's listed as going in the late 20's so not a reach and likely different folks will have him ranked all over the place. Josh Allen was ranked all the way from #1 overall to a 4th rounder. But I want this guy so we can say we have a CB named Kool Aid on the team!
  8. As long as NBC is wiling to pay them likely even more than they'd get for putting game on regular TV, not a really a big issue for NFL. Yes they'd like higher viewership, but more importantly is the money they are getting. And as other have commented, there are plenty other games on platforms other than broadcast, so just one more.
  9. So WRT the 13 second KC kickoff return, will squib kicks no longer be attempted since the ball first must touch the ground in the "landing zone" Also a good chance may kick the ball into one of the teams own players who'd have their back to the kicker??
  10. So not necessarily sold on the fact that they have to draft a WR in round 1 vrs BPA, but at a position of need. However the Bills have followed a trend WRT drafting WR's 2004 Lee Evans Round 1 2014 Sammy Watkins Round 1 2024 ??? Round 1
  11. Name me one team that hasn't way overpaid for a FA that turned out not nearly as well as he was paid. Redskins of 20 years ago probably led the league in terrible contracts. I too am surprised he got this much considering 2nd injury in 2 years, both involving leg area for a CB doesn't sound like good combination.
  12. While I agree the players are all solid, do have some concern with McGovern playing center. Like safety, think the Bills will also draft an interior lineman who can play center in mid rounds to possibly take over in 2025
  13. Up till this year Bass was solid kicking with Haack holding. There were some problems with Bojo, but not as bad as this past year.
  14. The last 3 or 4 weeks of season he kicked decent, before that was never great And you know this how exactly?
  15. That's kind of like saying on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the worst, Haack is a 2 and Martin is a 3 and it's not a log scale either. All I remember last season was all the complaints about what a poor punter Martin was.
  16. It may come down to who is the better holder.
  17. I was going to say the opposite a Lawson compliment as Lawson is good against run, but bad a pass rusher
  18. So with Johnson extension, is there anyone else left now that could free up more cash if needed? Think all the names that were suggested have been done?. Still get another $10 mil in June too.
  19. Wish I had seen this in time, I'd have RSVP'd that I was coming! There's a number of things left on the registry if anyone is interested.
  20. I wonder if real or a contract negotiation tactic??
  21. Whether you buy it or not doesn't matter, it's what the front office believe in and I've read more than once that is how they view it. Yes next years #28 is worth just as much as this years. But the reason they downgrade a round is because you have no idea why pick you're really getting. Houston got this year 11th pick in the 2nd round from Vikes, next year it could be a top 5 or it could be #20. So for that reason is why it's downgraded. You also have no idea how the value of the draft will be the following year, it could be better,or it could be worse. Maybe a full round is too steep a discount, but there has to be a haircut of some value taken for the unknown of what you're actually getting
  22. The fact that so far nothing has happened does make me wonder a bit if either he told his agent not to shop him as is leaning towards retiring or did the Bills give him a number and he's looking around to see if he can do better elsewhere, if not will be back? That was more typical of how things went in prior years, a couple weeks after FA started, the player came back and signed once he found he couldn't do any better. I see post too about Packers interested, could be he does sign there as played there prior, though doubt many from the team he played on is still there or trying to drive Bills to increase contact??
  23. I come up with Texans giving up 780 and gets back about 680 points assuming using the "rule" that you downgrade a pick in following year by one round level and I assumed Viking finish next year around middle of draft. If you don't downgrade a round, then Vikes gave up almost 900 points, so putting it in the middle of those two scenarios says it's about even?? So adding to that, they could now trade their 11th and 23rd to move up to #4. Looks like they don't have a 3rd rounder so can't get much higher unless they make another trade to get a pick(s)
  24. All true. Seems like they brought back more of the guys with expired contracts more quickly too than in prior years. Makes me wonder if Beane had more a hard list this year. These are the guys we want, and told the others more straight up, you're not in our plans so they quickly moved on?? The one name out there that fits priors years mold is Hyde. Does make me wonder a bit if either he told his agent not to shop him as is leaning towards retiring or did the Bills give him a number and he's looking around to see if he can do better elsewhere, if not will be back? That was more typical of how things went in prior years, a couple weeks after FA started, the player came back and signed.
