Eagles fire Doug Pederson

Didn't him and McD coach together under Andy Reid at one time in 2009, looks like they did? -
Will Al Michaels Come to Buffalo

They do look alike! -
Just like the Steelers, (and Cleveland) they played the same easy schedule against NFC East and AFC South. Could even argue easier as the way it worked out Baltimore played the 1st place teams in the two off divisions which were NE and did have KC. But do feel outside of Buffalo, they may be the 2nd hottest teams right now, admittedly while playing weaker teams.

Pray its the Steelers

Next weekend games time are usually 4 and 8 Saturday and 1 and 4 Sunday. I'd guessing the league will want KC in the Sunday 4:00 slot so would that put the Bills on Saturday again? If the Steelers win tonight that gives the Bills a clear extra day and half more time, granted they don't know who they are playing, but still time to rest up the body (and get coaches interviews out of the way). Even if it ends up being Balt - Tenn still have one extra day of rest. -
How Good or Bad was our Defense,Really?

I agree with comments about a couple of dropped passes by Indy away from being behind by 10 points or so and potentially losing. However I also feel if Indy had scored more, we just would have also scored more. I think the Bills were a bit too conservative in the 1st half, trying too hard to establish the run, etc. maybe was due to very poor field position, but if we had fallen behind the Daboll would have just pressed down harder on the gas pedal and we'd have scored more. With very likely no Moss next week, they should just come out throwing and keep throwing. You can throw many quick 3 to 5 yard passes to, high completion percentage, but moves the chains just as well as a run. Other than the first Pats game, we've struggled all season to establish the run, don't bother trying now. Unless Yeldon has some surprising magically powers kept hidden all season on the inactive list, don't bother trying. Does also bring up the question of Yeldon or Williams. Williams looked good in the Miami game but was at a point where Miami was warming up the buses. I also worry can they trust Williams not to fumble at a key time as really has no experience in the NFL. Couldn't find any stats on him for fumbles during college career. People worry about Yeldon fumbling, but think it's been pointed out was way overblown. Didn't Singletary or another Bills RB have more fumbles per rushing attempt than Yeldon? -
Just read on ESPN Reich's comments on why he went for it on 4th down. He stated: "If you don't make it, they're backed up, they're likely going to be conservative and you have a chance to get it back" Reich felt comfortable going for it because he didn't believe the Bills would aggressively try to move the ball down the field, because it was late in the first half and given where they had the ball. To me this sounds kind of strange, if you thought they were going to be conservative, then likely they'd run the clock out so Indy wouldn't get the ball back anyway. Also in a couple of games this year in the same situation, the Bills were NOT conservative and did exactly what they just did today, went right down the field. Would also have thought the fact that McD called a TO think on 3rd down should have told Indy the Bills didn't plan to be all that conservative as were trying to keep more time on the clock.

With regards to #1 easy way for the Bills to stop Indy from milking the clock, score more points and stop Indy on occasion. Did Indy ever go 3 and out this game? Think the Bills were too conservative in the 1st half, maybe it was due to their poor field position or just got to cute. One drive I recall they ran for 8 yards on 1st down, then on both 2nd and 3rd ran again and think they may have even lost a yard or two. Was talking with someone else who thought that considering the Bills didn't seem to be able to stop Indy, they actually hurt themselves by milking the clock. If they had ran plays faster, they may have had more scoring chances. Think the Bills should use their first round pick on a CB, wondering if they did that, could they move Wallace into the nickel position or would his skills not line up? Or do we need to get a replacement for T Johnson. Seems he's very up and down. Just about when you're ready to give up on him, he has a good game again. Agree with Bill Cowlers post game comments, Bills need to: Run the ball better Stop the run Rush the passer I'll add defend the TE

The designed QB runs need to stop!

The difference is KC has an actual RB to hand the ball off to who can reliably gain yards. Not very sure we have anything close to that. I do wonder what their plans are for next season to fix this? Are our lineman just real good at pass blocking, but not good at run blocking. Tough at least 3 of our starters were hear last year and did a decent job at it. I sometimes wonder could it be we run so infrequently that mentally our RB's just aren't mentally ready when they are called on? Not in anyway a good excuse, but often a big difference between an acceptable and reality. -
I joked Friday when they elevated Duke Williams, I said I was hoping for the other Williams, Antonio, but was more hoping they'd decide to go with three RB's plus T Jones, admittedly they never did that all season, go with three RB's. Thinking some more, Williams looked real good last week, but was playing mostly when Miami wanted to just go home by then. Would they want to risk him with the ball in a tight playoff game, with no real feel for how reliable he is WRT fumbling?

This was the angle I kept seeing them showing most of the time: And the other angles ESPN showed were with Poyer's body hiding his arm And was a 3rd one with official's body in the way Was doing alot of texting while watching so maybe missed that view. -
Going for two didn't really hurt them at all, as they missed that time, but made the next one so netted a total of two points. If they had kicked the first, I'm about 99% certain, they'd have also kicked the second so same outcome, unless we again jumped Offside on the kick. Going for it on 4th down, yeah didn't work out very well, though I'm guessing part of Reich's thinking may have been based on figuring the Bills were likely going to score 30 to 40 points in the game so he felt they needed more points too.

Did McKenzie play any snaps today??
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Richmond_Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looking to see if I could find a play count for todays game, can't find anything posted yet. I'd guess with Brown back whenever went 4 wide, it was Diggs, Brown, Beasley, and Davis, and when going with three wide, pick 3 of the 4 above, again not nearly the need for McKenzie. Not counting last week Brown was only active 8 games and 3 or 4 of those he was no where close to 100% so was easier those games to bring McKenzie in again. -

OK, I had not seen this angle before. As I stated in my post above: In one angle couldn't at all see Poyers left hand as there was an officials body in the way. I do think if there was a camera exactly 180 degrees opposite of the 1st one that the officials body blocked the view of would have had a much clearer view. This basically is that view from 180 degrees that I wanted to see. From here I'd agree, his knee was up. Don't think they showed this angle during the game though either? There's a 57 second replay showing three camera angles on ESPN, but none from this direction either. -

I don't think there was a review, the two refs got together and within a few seconds agreed incomplete, Seems the rule with officials is when two refs disagree on a catch or not, the "no catch" vote wins which does tend to make sense. -
Gab"Slow Drag" Davis
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Buffaloflash's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1000 yards is asking alot, depends on the overall health of not just him but the other WRs too plus Allen, but do agree he's very good. Based on Davis play and Browns contract will be surprised if Brown is back next season unless he takes a pretty large paycut. Likely when the Bills negotiated Brown's contract last season they were assuming with a deep draft class the following season, they'd be drafting a WR in the 1st round. If they had done that, Browns $8 mil would be easy to justify even if the rookie by next season was playing better. But once they traded for Diggs, Browns contract for the #2 WR is just way too high when you also add in Beasly and Davis production. -
They won 11 games, only 2 less than us. When was the last time the lowest seeded team to qualify for the playoffs won 11 games. They also were not a good matchup for us in that they run the ball well which we struggle with. I also think we were a bit conservative in the 1st half with play calls. The one series, we got about an 8.5 yard gain on 1st down, then ran the next two plays for no gain, in fact may have lost yards, against a defense that is stronger at stopping the run and had one of their starting CB's out for the game. All year we won with the pass today we tried more to establish the run than normally we'd pass to set up the run. Maybe it was due to our poor field position all half?

No the angle didn't clearly show it as there was no depth perception to tell. You needed a camera mounted above to tell for certain. You're interpreting is a fan and seeing what you want to see. Even the announcers stated/asked the same thing, "Was Poyer's hand on his back before the knee came up" They too didn't think so but could argue if it wasn't over turned. Do I think you're right, yes, think his knee was up first, but understand why it wasn't over ruled. -
The colts fumble that was not called
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was clearly off the ground but was difficult to say with 100% certainly that Poyer's hand wasn't touching his back prior to the knee coming up off the ground.. I don't think it was, but since they called him down by contact becomes difficult to overrule if can't tell with absolute certainty he wasn't touching him . If it had been ruled a fumble, never would have been over ruled either. -

Just like the two catches by Davis that weren't over ruled, neither was the fumble. In all three if the refs had called Davis out, or ruled a fumble, they never would have been over ruled the other way either. From every angle I saw on the fumble t was impossible to say for 100% certainly that Poyer's hand didn't tough the Indy player while his knee was still down. It didn't look like it, but couldn't say for certain so hard to over rule. -

True but the other ref waved it right off. That may have been what also confused the announcers too. -

To put things in perspective, Indy did win 11 games, they were far from a bad team. When was the last time the last/lowest seeded team to qualify for the playoffs had 11 wins and that's even after adding a 7th team. Do agree with Bill Cowlers post game comments, Bills need to: Be able to run the ball Stop the run Rush the passer better And I'll add defend the TE But those are also the 4 things this team has struggled with all season. -

Actually the one ref called it incomplete right away, the announcers tried to give them a completion.
