  1. 20 to 30 years ago, Buffalo would never be a choice for an 8:15 game as you wouldn't schedule a cold weather city at night to make it hard on the fans. Today which ever games generates the most interest will get the late slots. No real warm weather sites either other than inside the dome in New Orleans. The one factor that will be taken into account is time zone, Seattle would not be scheduled for a 1:00 eastern start time game. Currently only one west coast home team, so not too much of an issue.
  2. Agree with you there about the DE not getting enough sack for what they were paid. I'd be OK with cutting Addison and Butler in exchange for signing a good edge rusher. Did see a list a few weeks back there are some guys available as FA who have put up good sack numbers. The nine I'd go with on game day would be Hughes, Epinesa, Addison/new guy, and Johnson outside and Star, Phillips, Oliver, and Zimmer, plus Jefferson who can play inside or outside. Likely the saving from cutting Addison and Butler could afford a top signee. But like often happens the good upcoming FA right now may not be free agents by March.
  3. Phillips, Johnson, Oliver, and Epenesa are all young on rookie contracts. Jefferson think is only 26 so you have a pretty young line there already. Butler agree with cutting, but if you cut either Addison or Hughes likely see a drop off on the rush. How many sacks/pressures did Epenesa have this season, think it was one and he was a 2nd rounder. Yeah rookies can make an impact as a rotational backup, but unless it's maybe a top 20 pick doubt they are going to help that much.
  4. You can't cut a free agent as is Murphy, there's no saving as he isn't getting paid anything next year. Agree about Hyde. It took half the season for he Bills pass rush to become effective, would have to cut Addison and/or Jefferson and need to start over their again. Do think you cut Butler though.
  5. Think you're very optimistic that you'll sign them for the vet minimum as these three are currently making around $9 mil, to expect them to agree to take under $1mil each. A guy like Roberts will be in demand. Would be surprised if Kroft would even want to return to a situation where he's been inactive, but that still means he needs to be replaced by someone else. Maybe you can find a guy like Olson in the tail end of career to sign for the vet min. Certainly can sign Ike B, Bojorquez, and L Wallace to their tenders guessing likely costing you around $2 mil for the three of them combined. You really need to factor in more than 53/54 players as every year there are a couple of players start on IR so they are replaced, this year, Sweeney, Feleciano, Hodgins, Last year there believe there were also 3 of them, plus want to keep $3 to $5 mil for in season signings. Certainly agree on cutting Butler, but Matakevich & Lee Smith were contributors throughout the season, can't see cutting them if you do, you'll need to replace them with another body who fills the same role. Could see them taking a pay cut may save you a couple mil there. Same with Hyde. Projected contract numbers I saw about a month ago for Feliciano was around $7 mil and Williams may get $10 mil. Overall think you may be over stating discounts players are willing to take to stay here in Buffalo. While I do agree that will factor in, would be surprised if it's at the level you're projecting. Overall seems crazy to me to consider cutting players like Matakevich & Lee Smith who contributed throughout the season in their own special ways in order to keep a guy who was inactive for half the season and his a replacement is already on the roster on a cheap rookie contract who is only going to get better just for a small amount of speed.
  6. Really where's the $$ room? The band has been playing with a replacement for half their tour! They are $5 mil over cap of $175 mil, if it goes up to $190 mil like some are projecting, that's $20 mil, You need to still leave about $5 mil for rookies, plus want to keep another $3 to $5 mil for in season replacements, roster moves etc. That leaves you around $10 mil over and only 43 players under contract. Feliciano, Williams, & Milano likely will cost around $25 mil to sign all three. If you let them walk, who is their replacement as he's currently not on the roster now. Brown is the one guy on the roster where you already have a replacement for him on the roster. I agree I'd offer Brown a tweak, reduce his salary to about $4 mil, if he'll sign that, OK, but would be surprised if he'd take that large of a cut. Yes you can make tweaks to others, extend Hyde and L Smith, knock $1 to $2 mil off the cap, restructure Hughes and Matakevich, cut Butler to save some money. Cut Morse to save $5mil, but that just creates another hole to fill too. Very few other than Butler have the impact that cutting Brown has at around an $8 mil savings and who has only played in 8 games, 3 of which he basically did nothing. On top of all this the Bills will need to sign about ten other players just to fill out a final 53 man roster as again only like 43 players under contract and only 4 offensive lineman under contract, no punter, return man , #2 CB, or backup QB signed next season to name a few. Granted some are restricted FA like Bojorquez and Wallace so can sign them on the cheap. There's at least 11 upcoming FA that provided a significant contribution or function to this years team success that they will need to be replaced in one manner or another, could see about three of them being rookies, but remaining ones likely you'll want to sign a vet if you hope to make the 2021 roster just as strong or stronger than 2021.
  7. Why not, from what they were saying the other day, Beasley doesn't run routes, he just goes to the open spot of the field.
  8. The problem with Brown is when the Bills signed Brown to a contract last off-season, they very likely were expecting to draft a WR the following year in a deep draft class. If they had done that under a rookie contract, Browns contract would be fine, but once they traded for Diggs, Browns contract is way to high for a #2 WR who has also missed half the year and proven to be not all that needed. The Bills have one of the highest amounts of salary cap dedicated to the WR group next season BTW, around 15%. There are some teams higher, but coincidentally those are also the teams over the cap next year. It would be great to have Brown back next year, but can't see it happening without him taking a large pay cut like maybe cut his salary in half. IMO signing Feliciano, Williams and Milano to extensions would help the team more than keeping Brown around as they've already shown they can win without him. Yes there's others you can also cut to save money, but very few would generate a savings of $8 mil. Not to say you can't still sign someone else for much less that has the speed factor too to replace that one skill set. If Stills is signed that may be his role.
  9. Of course, what's more important than fans expectations! The team owes it to the fans to tell them everything that they know. We're entitled to know everything!
  10. Personally these days I'm in love with Lily from the AT&T commercials! She's replace Julia Roberts for one.
  11. Guess I'm a bit surprised by that too as seemed much less. Do feel his runs this year were less contested in that he wasn't hit as much. He was mainly running when no one near him to take hits. Sacked much less too, down from 38 to 25 so less hits there too.
  12. Damm I was kind of hoping for Green Bay and Rodgers matchup. Guess we'll just have to settle for it in this years Super Bowl. Would have been nice to as if the schedule works out that they play again the following year, the NFL will sometimes try and make the Thursday night season opener for the SB champs into a rematch. Guess that won't happen either unless Washington or Dallas get really hot! Will say overall next year is the Bills best window as playing a fairly easier schedule. Brees and Big Ben may be retiring, one of these years Brady will finally show his age, Indy who knows who their QB will be, Rivers or maybe Wentz. Now throw in the NFC east game makes it easier. Will still have KC and Tenn to contend with, both on the road I thought, but overall not too difficult and much less travel, furthest trip to KC?
  13. Not sure if the NFL tracks this stat or not, but I'm pretty certain Cam would be the all time NFL leader in times shown on the sideline with a towel over his head sulking after another bad play of some sorts by him. I will give him that he has got somewhat better over the years, but likely because he and the team got better. Do recall seeing it surface after his fumble in the first Bills game. That is one thing that does scare me about Allen as he and Cam are almost identical in size, will Allen also suffer the same fate in about 10 years? I do feel the one thing Allen has going for him is that the Bills are asking him to rush much less now and instead win with his arm. Cam was never really asked much to do this either because his arm/mechanics wasn't good enough, or he didn't have as strong a team around him to realistically expect him to do that. Funny too in 2016 and 2017, Cam's completion percentage was 52.9 and 59.1%, just about the same as Allen's first two seasons which everyone ripped him for and stated he's a bust.
  14. Well just as whenever the owners want to change something, they have to give the players back something in return; this is the owners turn if it were to go forward! Can anybody spell 18 game schedule!
  15. Yeah figured that was what was behind it, but had to make he comment anyway.
  16. The Bills can certainly contend for the SB in the next couple of years, next year in particular with a somewhat easier schedule could be their best shot. I've seen it written more than once that TE is one of the hardest positions for a rookie to come in and excel at. Having said that, I think the likelihood of drafting a guy in the 2nd round, (unless we make a trade late 2nd round) and play better than Knox is playing right now is very low. To find that guy would be more dumb luck than a well thought out plan as if he's that good, he's not lasting to close to pick #60. In addition we have Sweeney, so would be concerned with having a TE group led by the guy many want to replace and two others that have no NFL game experience. Kroft is a FA, could see them trying to replace him with another experienced guy on the long end of career, like last season Olson. In addition with this offense how many targets is the TE really going to get? Allen is completing 69.1% of his passes, realistically how much better can that number get, the top QB in the entire league on completion percent is only 1.6% better. Mahomes who has Kelce is 66.3%, almost 3% lower. If you add up the top 3 receiving options on KC and Buffalo, the 3 from KC including Kelce have a total of about 200 more yards than the top 3 of the Bills, Diggs, Beasley, Davis. Earlier in the season saw that the Bills run 4 WR 28% of the time (think it' still close to that number) so how much are you really going to utilize the TE? There are a number of good TE's in the league admittedly currently playing better than Knox; Andrews, Gesicki, Hockenson, Henry, Engram to name a couple but not really sure better than when the Bills go with 4 WR's. While those guys are good, there's only three really great TE's in the league, Gronk, Kittle, and Kelce, so unless you get very lucky and find that guy, I doubt you're overall improving the offense or changing the overall receptions, yards, etc, you're just changing who is making the catches. Overall my take is would rather use their draft picks on CB, O-line likely only two of the trio of Morse, Feleciano, and Williams will be on the team next year and LB either way if they resign Milano or not, and even an edge rusher before I'd worry about TE. I'd prefer giving Knox and Sweeney one more year, Knox to prove he's a capable starter and Sweeney to prove he can be the #2 guy, if not then next year 2022 draft or sign a FA to replace that guy.
  17. Damm.... if Jeremy was a Thoroughbred, he'd be worth alot of money!
  18. I think they assume that if they play their starters, then so will we and likely we'd beat Miami so doesn't gain them much and Big Ben could use the rest more. Think Cleveland still has some folks out with Covid so no guarantee Steelers don't still win. Yeah, but that was at point in season when Pitt was playing better and Ravens and Jackson worse. Allen may have better road numbers only because many of the road games were played in warmer weather, 2 in Az, Vegas, Miami. He has played two cold weather games of late at Denver and NE and was OK against Pitt, though contribute his drop off that game more to Steelers having great defense than weather. Wasn't the Seattle game around 70 degrees too, or was that the 1st NE game?
  19. Give it some time, may still happen. Did they announce any close contacts yet? Even if is close contact, Tua could still be back by Sunday if 2 negative tests
  20. Except Cleveland is in somewhat if a mess with Covid, so wouldn't say it's a cake walk for Browns. If Cleveland was 100% I'd feel much better about resting players.
  21. Read one article today that talked about the Bills having momentum and you don't want to lose that with a loss. Certainly is some truth to that, does it out weigh the injury risk or having to play the following week on the road, tough to say. I do know with a Bills loss and a drop to 3rd seed a better chance they could end up with a 1st round matchup with the Ravens which IMO is the team I'd least like to play. They have a strong defense and they are probably the one other team as hot as the Bills are right now. Overall think I'd like to see them play the starters, blow the game open by half time, then sit everyone. Oh course then Fitz will come in and all bets are off!
  22. Don't confuse me with facts.
  23. Well according to other new thread, sounds like Kenny Stills!
  24. Oh yeah, Read the beginning of 2nd line and end of 3rd to come up with Vita waived! LOL
