  1. Agree they either will need to lighten up on the ST players or let some of these other names go, i.e. D Johnson types. I'd swap out Zimmer for Phillips as they seem to really like Zimmer. The only thing Phillips has going for him is he may be the best backup for Star. Yeah they better stop leaving those banana peels on the locker room floor.
  2. Talent wise agree, but think Hughes contract would be easier to unload as Addison's. May be they really want to keep more of the younger guys and only way to do it is get rid of one of these two.
  3. Think there will be some trades. Both lines has some talent being let go. Wouldn't shock me if either Addison or Hughes isn't here come September. Do think Zimmer might make it over Harry and do think Obada makes it over Johnson as both play ST and Obada seems to be better pass rusher. Also think there's be two or three players stashed on IR either due to legit injury or not so legit injury so that will help the numbers some.
  4. I'd tend to agree as was kind of personal with getting rid of Jimmy G in NE. Not that Jimmy really had anything to do with him being there himself, but Brady may just view him as the enemy and still has a bad spot in his heart for him.
  5. Why can't they keep their training facility in Orchard Park even with a downtown stadium? Can't see them building a big dome downtown if they were to move there. Don't know who owns the land the facility is on, also leased, regardless I'm sure they could work out a deal for that. I will agree didn't see anything suggesting the new stadium is on the same identical site. Think I did read would take 2 years to complete, that seems awful fast if a tear down needs to occur first in order to build a new one. And then 1 inch of Astroturf was laid on top!!! Field is done!!
  6. Think we may just line up 11 D-lineman and let the offense figure things out!
  7. Sounds like you're assuming all three will be active on Sundays?? Something they've yet to do the past two seasons? I'm hoping they do, but to do that does mean shorting another roster slot.
  8. I live in Wilmington NC which is an alternative landing site for Air Force One if DC were under siege or something so once a month or so you see the plane down here practicing touch and goes.
  9. Not sure either of the Ryan Brothers would have fit into the plane. Likely their weight would have slowed the plane down 100 knots or so!
  10. That's metric million $$'s. You have to divide by 25/4 ... or multiply, whichever comes out bigger!
  11. The last pre-season game was typically played by everyone on the Thursday going into Labor day weekend, so for the team playing the following Thursday night opener, only 7 days in between, for everyone else about 10 days. Final cut downs were on the Saturday of Labor day weekend so by the time a team might sign a cut player, may only have the Wednesday through Saturday to practice. Teams typically game the players off Saturday and Sunday of Labor day weekend too. Now 2 full weeks from last pre-season game till opening weekend and about 12 days from final cut down day with the exception of the two teams playing the Thursday night opener. LOL you could consider it two weeks from last pre-season game as very few if any starters would play in the 4th pre-season game. The question now will that happen in the 3rd game or will most players play in the 3 games at about the same amount as they did prior?
  12. You really wonder??? Do you also wonder if the Pope is Catholic?
  13. I know everyone has been waiting with baited breath for this to be announced. But what I did find interesting about it and felt was worth a post, the last week of preseason games is the weekend of August 28th/29th. But the first week of regular season games doesn't start to Sept 12th, (excluding the Thursday night game) So two weeks between these two events. That's a new thing and interesting that they are doing that. I just assumed adding an extra week of regular games and cutting a wee of pre-season, they'd still occur back to back. But not this year anyway. I see final roster cut down date is TUESDAY August 31st. So a couple days after last preseason game, but then still ten days before regular season begins. I wonder if this will mean more roster moves occurring?? https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/bills-to-face-detroit-chicago-and-green-bay-in-nfl-preseason/article_5061e24a-ca05-11eb-817e-2b44e040b423.html
  14. When I first saw this title I thought "who is he, never heard of him" But after reading the article all I could think of was could easily replace Keven's name with Brandon Beane's name and would be a very similar story. Both came from no college playing experience, took collage classes leaning towards a sports oriented future, started as interning with an NFL team, and worked their way up the latter. https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/inside-the-bills-whats-behind-kevin-megancks-steady-rise-up-the-front-office-ladder/article_6f015da0-c570-11eb-a83a-439334264684.html
  15. I'll defend him some in that the Bills entire front office was kind of a mess as to who was really in charge. I really don't think Whaley wanted to hire Ryan, but was more a Russ Brandon pushing Pegula to hire him. Not sure who really did or didn't want Marrone, thought I recalled some connection there too between Marrone and RB? I also do recall Nix stating he wanted to get a QB before he left, so do think that part of what Whaley said is true. Yes Whaley scouted him, his report may have been great pick in the 3rd round for all we know. If we're going to blame him for lying to the fan base by talking up EJ afterwards and stating he has the "It factor" then every coach GM in the league is guilty of that. How many teams bad mouth their signings, even after they are gone. So yes Whaley did that in this article, but does seem his main point he was trying to make was about over drafting, not really blaming Nix for the pick other than that Nix wanted to get a QB whether there was one worthy or not so he over drafted. But now he's a media guy, not a front office person.
  16. By adding Beane's name to thread no one can say this doesn't belong on Bills message board!
  17. From what I've read, his mother may actually be the better athlete in the family.
  18. Believe it was in that same article another writer picked the Packers to beat the Bills in the SB. Forget who.
  19. If I were to put money on any of these undrafted rookies making the final Bills roster, think I'd go with Tariq Thompson mainly for two reasons; fist off he seems to fit the big nickel build and second and maybe more importantly, safety id the one position group where the Bills are undermanned numbers wise.
  20. The other issue was as in any game if they fell behind even as little as 4 points, then Marino would totally give up on even trying to run and just keep stepping back and throwing. In the case of the Bills they had a strong enough pass rush and overall defense, than often would result in sacks or ints.
  21. IMO I'll be very surprised if we beat Miami in Miami. It's their home opener so will be fired up for that, but even more so after the way we blew them out last year in Buffalo and could be viewed by the Fish as we ran the score up on them. Throwing 4th quarter bombs when already up by was it 20 points, I'm sure didn't sit well with them. I recall watching the game ending hand shake with the coaches and appeared to be one of the shortest interaction shakes I ever seen. Seemed to me that Flores didn't have any use for McD at that point. Will see, but won't surprise me to see us lose down there particularly if we win the opener against the Steelers. If we do beat them, likely due to Tua's failures and then Miami is in pretty bad shape.
  22. Correct about Sanders and Addison, thought Addison still did have one more year left?? As to Star, Morse and Klein; Klein hardly plays unless someone Milano or Edmunds gets hurt, to me easy to find a low cost replacement for him or maybe Smith is that guy. For the most part only two LB's are on the field most plays. Can see them drafting a LB fairly high next year too along with a DT. Morse you have Bates, Mongo, the FA they signed this year, plus the rookie, plus another draft class, so not too concerned there either. Agree Star may be harder to find replacement for 2022 so he may stay, plus I see it's listed as only slightly over a $4 mil saving with $5 mil in dead money. He may get another year. Just read an article on The Athletic that can save about $15 mil in easy cuts between Klein, Morse, and Matakevich. D Williams would add another $5 mil, considering they just drafted two OT's good chance that happens. Can see them saving more $$ by restructuring/extending contracts for Diggs, Beasley, Proyer and Hyde. Maybe that also happens with Star, void the 2023 year in exchange for less in 2022, but becomes guaranteed.
  23. True Fitz did start the first few weeks of season and won some of those games and he's now gone. But even so think I'd still lump the Fish in with those other teams whom the poster deemed 3/4 behind.
  24. I agree with the problem areas you mention, however, Depth on the O line doesn't help much unless someone gets injured as the starters pretty much play every snap. Is Breida going to be active on game day? Last couple of years only went with two RB's active plus Jones for ST. I do wonder if they will keep all three active this year, but that means shorting another position group somewhere to create another slot. Pass rush could be better with Star back as not asking others to play out of position, plus two top draft picks and Epinesa has a year under his belt and signing of Obada. But they all can't play on Sunday, and still two rookies. I think the moves they made will help in 2022, this year short term, not so sure how much. There likely will be a number of good players either being cut or traded during camp in particular on both lines. With that being said, they are still a top team and won't take much improvement to go all the way, so who knows.
