  1. I remember listening, but you’ve got it backwards. Against the Bills, Mahomes was much better against man (almost near perfect) than zone (something like 6-11 for modest yards).
  2. You’d think Kincaid would have better instincts with the ball in his hand too. After he caught that pass, if he gave a little jab step to the left to get the defender moving that way, he could’ve EASILY gotten the first if he took it wide to the sideline instead of cutting it up inside. Truthfully, he would’ve got the first if he just went wide without the jab step, that deke move would’ve been to make that particular defender a total non factor which would’ve resulted in a much bigger play. Laporta probably makes that first down and probably that catch on 4th down.
  3. It’s called when it’s hung onto, not when it’s grabbed and let go a second later. Our own Benford gets away with this all the time.
  4. If I recall, Bradberry also said he tugged on the jersey because the officials had been letting them play all game, but in that critical instance they called him for it. That’s the very definition of inconsistent. That sort of tug happens all the time with DBs and is rarely called. Do you disagree? To call it in that moment, knowing full well the ramifications of the penalty on a 3rd and 9, it was just a disgusting end to a highly competitive SB. If it happened in the Bills favor I’d laugh and say “I’ll take it!” knowing it’s a call that shouldn’t have been made. As officials, they should’ve let them play, call a foul if it’s egregious and has to be called, don’t call something ticky tack that decides the game. People get upset when inconsistencies and inaccuracies tend to favor one team. That’s the crux of the hate. Except there’s tons of evidence out there to the contrary, most notably how their offensive line gets away with continuous holds. Not during the regular season, they’re called for it then, but in the postseason? They still play the way they’re accustomed to playing, but the refs have swallowed their whistles.
  5. I don’t think so. The evidence has to be there to outrage folks. If it’s a SB where calls are right, balls are spotted correctly, and hardly any flags are thrown - on both sides - then there can’t be much complaining about officiating. The better team won. If it’s another SB where a crucial call - a tug on a jersey - on an overthrown ball gifts KC a whole new set of first downs and the ability to run out the clock and kick a game winning FG, you can believe there will be complaints. That exact situation has already happened.
  6. And it’s funny because all that’s needed to reverse the narrative is not to have seemingly every single call go their way in a crucial situation. That’s it.
  7. I would gladly return to a time without Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Only Fans, Tik Tok, Snapchat, and other derivatives (although I loved Myspace). I miss the days where “content creator” wasn’t a full time job, online prostitution didn’t exist (at least in its current form), online bullying wasn’t possible, and AI deepfakes & mass misinformation weren’t spreading like wildfires. Definitely a different world than it was in the year 2000.
  8. Marino said on a locked on podcast that Kincaid received the highest percentage of off target throws by any TE in the NFL. For whatever reason, he and Josh just never got the chemistry down, despite all the reports out of camp that Kincaid was killing it. Didn’t like trading up for a TE when it happened and I hate it even more now with the benefit of hindsight. Should’ve signed Gesicki, kept our 1st and 4th round draft picks and selected another player.
  9. I thought they were at one point. Aside from being golfing buddies and Allen introducing Brady to his father, when asked which QB he liked to win the next SB not named Mahomes, Brady immediately said Allen. Maybe some of that chumminess went out when they hopped on zoom together and Allen was a bit dismissive of Brady’s advice…
  10. Surprising that Allen’s good friend Tom Brady voted Lamar MVP. I’m the type who would forever hold that against Brady, Allen’s a better man than me 😅
  11. Forgot how many wanted Erik Armstead during the offseason last year. He was another bust of a signing for Jacksonville, 3 years $51M for 2 sacks and one start all year. Woof.
  12. Is this the first time the NFL MVP wasn’t top 5 in offensive or defensive player of the year voting?
  13. You’re not too far off. They don’t tell them outright that they’re a winner, or what they’ve won, but they’ll use language like “there’s good reason for you to attend.” Of course, that could pertain to the Sportsmanship and FedEx Air Player of the Year awards 😅
  14. A nickel zone defense would be perfectly fine if we had the front 4 to disrupt top shelf opposing QBs. As it is, we don’t, and we don’t have a fleet footed secondary, so they play soft and give up easy completions. If the new guy specializes in pressure packages, that will assuredly help Babich. His blitzes lack creativity and almost never get home. Hearing the Bills OL comment about how they were outsmarted at such a critical part of the game has to weigh heavily with the defensive staff to start producing a similar ability.
  15. It’s what I hope for - not something egregious, but either a ticky tack call that costs them the SB (like the jersey tug that cost the Eagles), a soft roughing the passer penalty, or a bad ball spot.
  16. Not to mention a number of Pro Bowl CBs were selected after Elam. The Chiefs traded up and selected McDuffie… so what? It wasn’t like he was the last good corner left. The Bills just traded up for the wrong player.
  17. There were a number of regular season end of game situations this year that were fishy. The Bengals getting a defensive pass interference call on a bang/bang 4th and 16, meanwhile a week later against the Falcons, we get a no-call defensive pass interference against the Chiefs safety in the endzone. Interference that was more noticeable than the bang/bang call a week earlier. A lot of gripes about the Chiefs stem from their postseason favoritism. From the article: Then after the author rationalizes these cases aren’t extreme outliers or signs of anything nefarious… It is indeed the no-calls, the timing of calls, the spots of footballs, all these things that don’t show up in the win probability model, things that we see with our own two eyes that raise eyebrows and draw the ire of fans nationwide. This author sounds like he’s talking out of both sides of his mouth, repeatedly dismissing playoff results as small sample sizes, but then agreeing the Chiefs have been the beneficiaries of good fortune when the games count. Overall, it reads like an article that was written by a Chiefs fan.
  18. Funny thing is, the Raven fan ref that ended up spotting the ball based on his view of Josh’s back, came running in with a spot where the ball couldn’t be. He couldn’t see where Josh was holding it, but it certainly wasn’t a half yard shy of the line to gain. Felt intentionally bad.
  19. Refs: please, please, please let the Eagles extend a late game winning drive on a ticky tack call. It happened to the Eagles in the last SB they played. I’d love to hear the Chiefs fans whine about it.
  20. Edmunds the 2nd best first round pick? Nah, I’d put him comfortably behind Oliver and Rousseau. After next year, probably Kincaid as well if he takes a step forward.
  21. The only DL and secondary defenders I can see here for the next few years are Oliver, Solomon, Carter, Benford, Johnson, and Bishop. Everyone else can be replaced/upgraded.
  22. His skillset definitely isn’t overrated, but there were whispers that his act was wearing on guys in the locker room. He’s got a different type of personality. I don’t think he’d be a problem with a winning team though. https://basicbluesnation.com/penn-state-football-news-behavior-of-micah-parsons-may-be-driving-wedge-in-cowboys-locker-room/
  23. Only Von Miller has been given free reign to rush as he pleases and that was a couple seasons ago when he was still impactful. In fact, the DT next to him would move in counter to what Von decided to do - there was a breakdown on how this was working with Cover 1, I think. It’s not like that with any of these other players. When Ed Oliver was drafted here, after some struggles he told the media he was having to adjust to making plays within the structure of the defense, he wasn’t allowed to freelance or attack however he wanted to. I guess at Houston he was given the green light like Von and succeeded that way (though he never put up huge sack numbers). I think the structure bogs some players down, when they’d rather just cut loose and rush however they want. I know Jordan Phillips likes to go out of structure too and if he doesn’t make a play he’ll ride the bench when that happens. Maybe they should just be unleashed.
  24. With a new HC coming in and two huge contracts just handed out to Dak and Lamb, now would be the time to do it.
  25. And no HC/QB combo has won their first SB after more than 5 years together. Either the HC or the QB gets replaced.
