  1. There were a number of regular season end of game situations this year that were fishy. The Bengals getting a defensive pass interference call on a bang/bang 4th and 16, meanwhile a week later against the Falcons, we get a no-call defensive pass interference against the Chiefs safety in the endzone. Interference that was more noticeable than the bang/bang call a week earlier. A lot of gripes about the Chiefs stem from their postseason favoritism. From the article: Then after the author rationalizes these cases aren’t extreme outliers or signs of anything nefarious… It is indeed the no-calls, the timing of calls, the spots of footballs, all these things that don’t show up in the win probability model, things that we see with our own two eyes that raise eyebrows and draw the ire of fans nationwide. This author sounds like he’s talking out of both sides of his mouth, repeatedly dismissing playoff results as small sample sizes, but then agreeing the Chiefs have been the beneficiaries of good fortune when the games count. Overall, it reads like an article that was written by a Chiefs fan.
  2. Funny thing is, the Raven fan ref that ended up spotting the ball based on his view of Josh’s back, came running in with a spot where the ball couldn’t be. He couldn’t see where Josh was holding it, but it certainly wasn’t a half yard shy of the line to gain. Felt intentionally bad.
  3. Refs: please, please, please let the Eagles extend a late game winning drive on a ticky tack call. It happened to the Eagles in the last SB they played. I’d love to hear the Chiefs fans whine about it.
  4. Edmunds the 2nd best first round pick? Nah, I’d put him comfortably behind Oliver and Rousseau. After next year, probably Kincaid as well if he takes a step forward.
  5. The only DL and secondary defenders I can see here for the next few years are Oliver, Solomon, Carter, Benford, Johnson, and Bishop. Everyone else can be replaced/upgraded.
  6. His skillset definitely isn’t overrated, but there were whispers that his act was wearing on guys in the locker room. He’s got a different type of personality. I don’t think he’d be a problem with a winning team though. https://basicbluesnation.com/penn-state-football-news-behavior-of-micah-parsons-may-be-driving-wedge-in-cowboys-locker-room/
  7. Only Von Miller has been given free reign to rush as he pleases and that was a couple seasons ago when he was still impactful. In fact, the DT next to him would move in counter to what Von decided to do - there was a breakdown on how this was working with Cover 1, I think. It’s not like that with any of these other players. When Ed Oliver was drafted here, after some struggles he told the media he was having to adjust to making plays within the structure of the defense, he wasn’t allowed to freelance or attack however he wanted to. I guess at Houston he was given the green light like Von and succeeded that way (though he never put up huge sack numbers). I think the structure bogs some players down, when they’d rather just cut loose and rush however they want. I know Jordan Phillips likes to go out of structure too and if he doesn’t make a play he’ll ride the bench when that happens. Maybe they should just be unleashed.
  8. With a new HC coming in and two huge contracts just handed out to Dak and Lamb, now would be the time to do it.
  9. And no HC/QB combo has won their first SB after more than 5 years together. Either the HC or the QB gets replaced.
  10. Been waiting on a McD defense to step up and confuse Mahomes just once in the playoffs. Just once. Really thought it’d be this year where their offense underwhelmed the entire season. At this point, 4 losses later, I don’t think McD can outsmart Reid for a game, much less a half. Resigned to the fact that Josh and the offense have to go win it when the opportunity presents itself. 0-2 in that regard.
  11. The DL and secondary both need a makeover in speed and size. If I were Beane, I’d bank on Rousseau signing elsewhere next season, so that’s another spot that will need to be replaced.
  12. Sure, keep your head in the sand and dismiss all possibility of bias. Doesn’t matter what either of us believes anyway.
  13. You can’t say this without 100% certainty. Would you stake your entire life savings and assets behind this claim? Or is it plausible to believe there’s a chance (however slight) that her presence creates a bias, either consciously or subconsciously? They cut to this woman in the suite every time the Chiefs make a positive play, she’s great (free) marketing for the NFL. Put it this way… Taylor is not on Michael Jackson’s level, but let’s say Michael was an unabashed Bills fan who attended lots of games and had cameras cutting to him in celebration after positive plays. Would that have been great for the league and the Bills image? Is it possible his presence could’ve caused an element of bias however small? I’m not claiming the NFL is rigged, or fixed, but I do believe there’s a bias in officiating towards the Chiefs. We can speculate as to the why. Or maybe you believe their postseason games are called fairly…
  14. I do wonder if the biggest pop star in the world wasn’t tied to a certain team, would everything play out exactly as it has…?
  15. There’s no way in the world any singular athlete is signing for a billion dollars. Think about the inequity alone. Cmon.
  16. So maybe this is why he wasn’t himself this year. Outside circumstances weighing on his mind.
  17. Yeah, Smiley is coming back, just confirmed. Not surprising given how he talked him up earlier.
  18. McD just endorsed Smiley, sounds like he’ll be back. McD said it was a learning process and he’ll take that experience moving forward. In the past when asked about a specific coach who was on the outs, he’d say “I’m not gonna get into who’s gonna be here at this time. I respect that you’re asking, but I’m not going there.”
  19. Hot mics are certainly for more interesting than anything said on the record. I could see Josh saying “yeah, Dalton could’ve caught it!” but not in a condemning tone, more of a “it could’ve been a great play” tone.
  20. Should’ve worked hard at his play strength after his rookie year. Needs to hit the JUGS machine too. But we didn’t have a 3rd, unless you wanted to give away #28 and next year’s 2nd to move up 5 spots.
  21. Watch Groot on the 4th and 1 Mahomes keeper. It wasn’t pretty. Man oh man, if I was Bernard in the huddle I would’ve told my ends to keep their eyes on Mahomes and don’t fall for any pump fakes. In the SB, he kept the ball against the 9ers on a boot in a similar situation. I was sitting at home and figured exactly what was coming, the players seemed to have no idea. I was a little more forgiving for Smoot losing contain on the Mahomes TD run. The 4th and 1 should’ve been an easy out.
  22. If the shoe was on the other foot, I have my doubts the offense could get 2 first downs to ice the game considering they just went 5 and out needing at the very least a FG to tie. Seems they like the drama.
  23. The guys who are first read QBs - Tua, Purdy - have such limitations that they HAVE to know where to go with the ball immediately after the snap. I bet you both could read a defense better than Allen pre-snap, but it’s because they have to. They’re physically limited in many ways. Mahomes likes to hold the ball as well, although we didn’t see much of that Sunday. The secondary was so loose that whoever he looked at was open immediately.
  24. What would it take to pry Micah Parsons away from Dallas? They paid Dak and Lamb crazy money, do they have enough for him too? Anyone have their salary cap numbers?
  25. Von only played 20% of the snaps against the Chiefs?? Yeah, no way will he be back at that salary.
