  1. A restructure would alleviate some of the problems now, but would make his contract even worse in the years to come. I think the Bills should approach him about a pay cut, not a restructure. I think it feels like Knox missed most of the year because he was largely a non-factor. It was a bad contract then (and I said as much before Kincaid was even on the radar) and it’s a bad contract now. The timing of it - after his brother had passed and before he ever took a snap in Dorsey’s offense - was curious to me. If all things stay status quo, I can’t see him being a real threat when we’ll have Diggs, Kincaid, a highly touted rookie, and Cook stealing his targets. Maybe even Shakir.
  2. Beane blamed the pandemic for why they’re currently over the cap. He specifically referenced it being $13M lower that year than what they thought it’d be. Now is his chance to right his wrongs. Higher cap doesn’t mean spend, spend, spend!
  3. Yeah that Mike Leach spread offense and the long list of Texas Tech QBs who had never gone on to do anything in the league was one of the knocks against Mahomes. My sister was a trainer with the team and kept telling me “the Bills have to draft Mahomes. He’s different.” I asked her what made him so different from all the other guys that put up huge numbers in that offense? She said she didn’t know exactly, but could tell he wasn’t like the others. I didn’t believe her 😅
  4. Let me see if I can find what I’m referencing… EDIT: the original story about Mahomes and Terry’s infatuation with him was actually a podcast with Monos from Dec of 2020. I tried to click on it but now it wants me to sign in.
  5. Oh, this wasn’t in the McD “hit piece.” The talk with Jim Monos happened awhile before that article came out. I didn’t read the McD story either, because a) I didn’t want to pay for it and b) whatever feelings I had because of what I read, it wouldn’t make a difference because Sean is still our HC. I’m not eager to see him in a negative light because it lessens my hope for the team. EDIT to say: Dunne talked with Jim again after the piece came out and that’s when Jim was defending McD’s character.
  6. So you read the same story. It could all be BS, but I don’t see what he would’ve stood to gain from lying. Also, when everyone was bashing McD, he came to his defense and said he was a great person. That they all worked very well together the short time during the draft but understood that McD wanted to bring in his own GM. Jim didn’t seem to harbor any resentment towards him.
  7. I don’t make anything up, just passing along what I read. The article is out there if you want to dig for it, the source was Jim Monos.
  8. I wouldn’t even say he “fell” to 10. Most of the pre draft rankings had him as a late 1st-2nd round prospect. Technically he shouldn’t have even gone ahead of Deshaun Watson. When the Bills made the trade with KC, the Bills braintrust figured it was for Watson, Terry thought he could still get Mahomes at the back of round 1. He actually wanted to take him at 10, but McD hadn’t scouted QBs so he wanted to wait. Whaley was on record as saying “it’s your team, Mr Pegula, you can do whatever you want.” Pegula sided with his new coach, McDermott, and the rest is history.
  9. And I’m sure they’re looking at the amount of cap space their team has. Get paid, fellas!
  10. His only punt for us was an 80 yarder in the preseason. Would’ve been fun watching him in Bills gear, I know many here already were trying out nicknames for him. Good luck in KC, Matt, unless you play Buffalo, then I hope you shank your one or two punts.
  11. Manning Brady Mahomes Montana Allen is still behind a number of QB legends.
  12. I think that Bills Chicks group really led the charge in getting him cut. If fans didn’t immediately take sides and waited for it all to play out, the organization wouldn’t have been under immense pressure to act without evidence. I just think a non-football related suspension would’ve been more fair than an outright cut.
  13. In hindsight, I wonder if a suspension while the legal issues played out would’ve made more sense than an outright cut? If there was sufficient evidence for the Bills to believe he was guilty, cool, cut him. But at the time there was only he said/she said and an annoying lawyer on the woman’s side making unprofessional threats.
  14. Our punter hasn’t been his best self in about a season and a half. I would’ve liked Araiza to have signed a futures contract, considering we did invest a draft pick in him.
  15. Tell that to everyone who’s up in arms about the Von Miller contract. That’s what we do on message boards and talk in general - debate and value a player’s worth in relation to his production on the field. There’s a long list of contract regrets with this team. Kincaid actually had some pretty nice blocks on the season. He says himself it’s something he’ll continue to work on, but he’s not a total dud. The effort is there.
  16. The argument is Knox isn’t worth the contract for his production on the field. These numbers further illustrate that point. Essentially 1 catch per game for a first down.
  17. That was my exact argument at the time. Josh had never shown a reliance on using the TE, so I didn’t understand the timing of the extension. Especially when you also factor in it was Dorsey’s first year as a play caller. Wouldn’t you like to see how Knox is utilized before throwing that sort of money at him?I also didn’t think Knox would suddenly develop glue hands if he were to get more targets. That drop against PIT that led to Bernard getting injured on the very next series was inexcusable. No one but the Bills was paying Knox that contract. We outbid ourselves. He’s a great guy by all accounts and a close friend of Josh, but that’s bad money.
  18. If Miller bounces back next season and looks like he did pre injury, this won’t be close to being true. If he continues to look like he did all of 2023, then sadly it’s accurate. Point is, too early to make that statement.
  19. I think the much maligned Gabe Davis would’ve caught one of the two long passes Sherfield dropped. Maybe not the one where his arm was being held, but certainly the second where he got two hands on it. Good luck with your next team, Grape!
  20. Thought I’d see Greg among the league leaders in run stop win rate since it’s his most redeeming quality, but here’s your top 10. Not sure how far down the list he is.
  21. It’s not a big deal, but I believe you’re getting the games mixed up. No Bill was credited with a sack in the Chiefs playoff game. But yeah, this doesn’t only fall on Rousseau, the entire front four has a habit of hibernating in the playoffs. I foolishly thought Daquan Jones would make a difference. They couldn’t stop the run or the pass.
  22. The playoff game was the play I was referencing, not the regular season. We didn’t touch Mahomes in the playoffs. Well, Rousseau touched him on the one pass rush but that’s about it. Mahomes still got a huge play out of it. We have to solve why the DL disappears every year in the playoffs, but that’s another discussion for another time.
  23. That still doesn’t mean “sign the guy for more than he’s worth because he’s all we’ve got at the position.” If that’s the case, you let those high money/low production guys go and take a chance on the backup(s).
  24. We’ll see what Beane does, but if all things stay relatively the same, don’t be surprised if Rousseau is allowed to walk versus Beane signing him for $20M/yr. I just don’t think it’ll happen.
  25. I remember one play from the Chiefs game where Rousseau was in on Mahomes. One. And he didn’t get the sack. Because of the miss Klein inexplicably left his assignment and we gave up a huge play. Those sacks and being able to close the deal definitely matter.
