No, he needs to work on his route running first and foremost. The difference in a 40 yard dash between a 4.61 and a 4.41 is 2 yards. We don’t need Coleman to be a deep threat. If he learns how to run routes properly, like countless other productive (and even Hall of Fame) WRs before him, you’ll see a night and day difference on the field. He needs to study Davante Adams, Tee Higgins, Puka Nacua, Mike Evans, etc, WRs within his range of speed who know how to maximize their talents. Steve Smith excoriated Coleman for his bad route running, I hope someone sent him that video. Link up with Steve in the offseason, learn from him.

I agree with shelf life, but the production high end RBs give is difficult to replace - if we’re talking about explosive plays. CMC, Barkley, and King Henry level production you likely won’t get in the 3rd+ round. If we can get Cook back at about $12M/yr he’s def worth that. I’ve got Cook in that second group with Brandon Jacobs, Gibbs, Bijan, etc., except some of those guys are more complete players. I remember how the running game looked with Zach “grows on” Moss and Devin Dingleberry. I’d rather not go back to those days.

The week before that Dolphins game Coleman was ascending and making big plays. He was playing with a ton of confidence. I don’t know what it was about that Dolphins game (dwindling confidence due to Ramsey locking him up?) but he was never the same afterwards. It started early too, the drop on the goal line that led to an INT. Even if Poyer hadn’t hit him, he would’ve dropped the perfectly thrown long ball as well. Everyone points to the injury in assessing his before and after performance, but the downward slide started with that Fins game as a whole.

I’d stick with Bishop because he isn’t likely to get you value in a trade. His ultimate potential is also untapped, so we still don’t know what he is or what he will eventually be. Not worth trading him for a 4th+ rounder.

NFL may push touchbacks up to the 35 yard line

College still has the traditional kickoff. Wonder how they get away with it. -
Man, I was just coming here to say exactly the same. It’s damning to hear “the Bills have no talent” or “it’s a middling roster” which is somewhat justified with only 1 All Pro and 2 Pro Bowlers, yet the team is over the cap mostly every year. This with Allen being dramatically underpaid in relation to his peers. The money management has to get better.

Wow, a 5’10” 270 lb offensive lineman is on the list. No doubt that guy gets converted to FB in an Alan Ricard type of role. EDIT: Oops, meant Patrick Ricard.

I’m not apologizing for Allen and the offense’s failures or making any excuses, but Chris Jones bull rushed Dawkins and Dawkins inadvertently stepped on Josh’s foot which caused the errant pass. That play became a highly debated one because many others said Allen should’ve taken Diggs on the crosser who was wide open and he wouldn’t have had his foot stepped on. It also would’ve allowed the Bills to milk more time off the clock, leaving Mahomes with less of a chance to come back - if the Bills had eventually scored a TD. All of this is to say, the Bills just haven’t made the play that needed to be made with the game on the line. Whoever was at fault.

The Josh Allen Bills are 7-1 in the playoffs against all teams not named Kansas City. Make decisions on upcoming FAs (within the team and outside) based on how they play against the Chiefs. Rousseau? It’s a pass for me at anything more than $18M/yr. Benford is always hurt, so it’s hard to tell. Bernard is fine, just needs more help on the DL. Shakir always balls out, but the $20M/yr tag is a bit of sticker shock. Probably worth it though.

This is now on Beane, no question he needs to step up.
Brand J replied to SoonerBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Cool with all of that, but not big on extending Rousseau if the $25M/yr projections are correct. To make that much, you gotta have more than 5 sacks in 15 games and disrupt Mahomes far more often than he has rushing against their weak tackles. -

I feel like he’s due to strike gold on a DL pick. -
Watching the playoffs again, i’m okay with Bass for now

It’ll be a crap shoot either way - going with an unproven rookie, or continuing with Bass (who we know has had a case of the yips). -

I meant by drafting one with promise. You can usually get a good kicker from round 5 on. -

They should bring in legitimate competition for Bass, not a guy who had a 1% chance of unseating him during the regular season. If he wins the job again, great. -

Jonathan Martin and Incognito Bullygate back in the news

Eric Wood’s burner 😂 No, I just found it ridiculous you’d chastise someone for defending a man Eric Wood knows 100% better than you, a guy who read about Richie on the internet. Incognito does have mental and behavioral issues, which have been pointed out extensively in this thread. I said a guy can be a jerk or an a**hole, but it doesn’t necessarily make them a bad person. Humans are complicated; Incognito can use inappropriate language one week and visit children in a hospital the next. And hey, I wouldn’t hang out with these personality types myself, but I have been around some who were of that ilk, though more mild. You know who I can definitely say was a bad person? Aaron Hernandez. Rae Carruth. Lawrence Phillips. R. Kelly. P. Diddy. Jeffrey Dahmer. Ted Bundy. The ***** who shot up that Tops Supermarket. The list goes on and on. But Richie Incognito? I mean, if Jonathan Martin was a soft player, then you can call Incognito a soft bad person, I suppose. -

Reading his Wikipedia, sounds like he’s had anger issues from a very early age and was actually mandated to take anger management classes. Who knows what his later issues were, but he’s a proven behavioral problem child. Reminds me in many ways of Bill Romanowski. I disagree about him being a total failure as a man and a human being for obvious reasons. A total failure ends up in prison at age 18 for a 25 to life sentence. Incognito reached the pinnacle of athletic achievement and started 164 games in the NFL. That, to me, is not representative of a complete and total failure. You may see it differently. Does he have mental issues? Oh yeah. But by and large his life has been a success - regardless of what anyone else thinks of him. -
Here’s my 2024 All-Hindsight Draft (top 3 picks): 2) #33 - DT T’Vondre Sweat (at 6’4” 366lbs the Bills find their run stopping DT1. Made the PFWA All Rookie team). 2) #60 - S Calen Bullock (at 6’3” 190 with 4.48 speed, the Bills find their center field replacement for Micah Hyde. Made the PFWA All Rookie team). 3) #95 - WR Troy Franklin (I know he underwhelmed with Denver and had a much publicized drop, but I’m taking a swing with the speedster here. Maybe he would’ve looked better with Allen throwing to him.) I think that group will prove, collectively, to be better long term than Coleman, Bishop, and Carter. I hope not, but it is what it is.

You know what’s bonkers? Making definitive statements about someone’s character when you haven’t been in the rooms to fully grasp what happened. Is Richie an a**hole? A jerk? Yep, sure looks like it, but it doesn’t automatically mean he’s a despicable guy. Same could be said for Aaron Rodgers. Some people have said Jim Kelly was a jerk. Michael Jordan was called a bully by some of his teammates. Does that mean all of them are bad guys? We don’t know these people. He’s not apologizing because he doesn’t believe he did anything wrong. He should apologize, even if - in his eyes - the situation was blown out of proportion and - in Martin’s own words - the Wells report was a clown show. Eric Wood is the main guy to come out and defend Richie, but has there been a slew of other players that said “this guy is cancerous”? Richie Incognito is “scum of the Earth”? Not to my knowledge, all I see is a former teammate defending him. Without a full understanding of the situation, I won’t make definitive statements either way on who Richie Incognito is as a person, but you do you. -

Yeah, that’s the thing… the trainer’s room isn’t only Incognito and the assistant trainer, it’s multiple trainers, multiple athletes, positional coaches, etc. I of course don’t know how this trainer felt, but if he/she was laughing along and dishing out comebacks of their own, it’s not going to pass as bullying. If it was a situation where it was clearly uncomfortable for the assistant trainer (and thereby uncomfortable for others in the room), somebody would’ve told Incognito to shut the hell up. I take the words he said to the trainer (and Martin) as inappropriate, over the top language, but I struggle to believe Incognito said these things with malice or ill intent. In other words, I don’t believe that he believed what he was saying. I can’t paint him as a “bad person” because of his language, his actions and almost universal dislike of others who’ve associated with him would ring truer to me. -

Incognito is not a moral, upstanding citizen that’s for sure, but how much of that can be attributed to mental health? Same goes for Antonio Brown as well as Kanye West. Do you see a similar thread here? They all have screws loose. And again, I don’t want to sound like I’m defending the words that came out of his mouth but context is needed. We can see what was said on a piece of paper, but with the Assistant trainer @Beck Water referenced, did he/she laugh along with the guys, or was it truly a case where they felt bullied and discriminated? If the latter, they chose to reveal this to Wells, but not to anyone else on the team for as long as it went on? If on Incognito’s best day he’s a dangerous human being, then I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before his actions lead him to prison, wouldn’t you agree? Yeah, I don’t disagree. -

I don’t know how you can unequivocally state he’s a bad person, especially when you’re not privy to his mental health issues. Eric Wood spent a whole lot more time with him than anyone on this board and still views him as a brother. I have a hard time believing that’d be the case if Incognito was a despicable person. You don’t know the man.
