  1. I was intrigued with Owens as well, given his size, athleticism, and potential smarts, but he never made it to the PS. Bills waived him with an injury designation prior to the last preseason game and never brought him back.
  2. I don’t know where Moore’s head was at on his route, but there was a very quick window there to hit him with a pass. That said, can’t expect Allen to find that minuscule moment on plays like this. The defense won this one with a good call and sticky coverage, Allen was better off throwing it away. It’s not always this bleak though.
  3. Some like to judge based off QBR rather than QB rating and that was poor. A 48 I think I saw. He had 160 yards but 50 of those came on Shakir’s catch and run. Allen didn’t need to be magical this game because Cook was going off, but he WILL need to be magical next week. He’ll need to have his most complete game of the season.
  4. Without looking up stats to support my memory, he ate up the Chiefs OL in the regular season game last year. I remember because Chiefs Planet was talking about how Oliver got the better of Trey Smith all game. EDIT: I’m thinking of the last win in KC, 2023. That was Ed’s best game against the Chiefs. Only half a sack, but very disruptive throughout.
  5. Both Curtis Samuels and Elijah Moore are 4.3 guys. Shakir is mid 4.4s, as is Cook. I don’t think speed is the issue, I think the passing game design is the problem. How those players are utilized.
  6. Haven’t scrubbed through this thread, but has anyone mentioned the clutch tackle by Hancock on Dowdle’s 24 yard run? If Hancock was Rapp, Dowdle scores on that play, but because the stop was made we got a turnover on that drive to negate points. Poyer played 45/54 snaps, but I’d like to see Hancock on the field more and not just on some passing downs here and there.
  7. I’ve always heard a great QB can take an average receiver and make him into a good one, can make a good receiver into a great one and a great receiver an All-Pro/ Hall of Famer. A great receiver can also elevate a QB’s play, of course, and that’s where we are with Allen. We want a guy who can make it happen when Allen isn’t necessarily on his game. A guy who can make plays for his QB when all else isn’t great.
  8. Intentional grounding needs to be revisited, that clearly wasn’t a pass attempt; it was clearly thrown to the ground to avoid getting sacked.
  9. I remember the Josh Allen who had a coming out party against the 49ers (not the snow game, the game in 2020). This current version of Allen is far removed from that one. That kid was a gunslinger who was having fun and was fun to watch. Today he is a neutered version of his old self. Whether that’s because he’s worrying about turnovers, his wide receivers, or isn’t the lead man on offense, I don’t know. But right now everything runs through James Cook.
  10. If I was an opposing DC, I’d play the Bills with a single high safety, 8 players in the box, and plan for passes 15 yards and in. Basically I’d dare them to beat me deep. Allen’s deep pass isn’t great and the Bills receivers aren’t targeted downfield. I’d take the running game away as well as those short passes and dare the Bills to create explosive plays.
  11. Patriots rolled up over 400 yards on that vaunted Cleveland defense. Maye continues to look the part.
  12. Didn’t hear Ogunjobi’s name all preseason or TC either. Some thought he may be cut, but now it’s nice to have him. Even if he’s just taking up space.
  13. Mitch hit that nice pass against the Jets too that I don’t think the current version of Allen throws.
  14. He has always had a mid season lull, can’t understand it. I think he’ll play markedly better next week against the Chiefs. He dials in more often than not for the big tests.
  15. Why not give Hancock extended time here?
  16. Ed Oliver, Daquan Jones, TJ Sanders, Dwayne Carter. Came into the season with great depth and potential, but it’s the snake bit position of the season.
  17. Oh okay, so Hairston replaced White. Think I’d rather see Hairston and White in on dime rather than Cam Lewis.
  18. Has Tre White been pulled for Cam Lewis?
  19. Taron Johnson has been ROUGH this year
  20. Been telling folks Josh deserves much more of the blame for the passing game struggles. Many here don’t want to admit that.
  21. You know, after the Bills failed so many times running the same play in short yardage against the Chiefs, I was sure, SURE, that Brady would have spent all offseason scouring effective short yardage plays so that he’d have a much bigger treasure chest to pull from when they’re again in those situations. Well, his short yardage plays this year are worse than last year; we don’t even run the tush push anymore. I’m a bit disappointed in him as a coordinator but do feel it’s less for the Bills to have to rebuild if he’s promoted to HC. The offense can rebound, the defense I feel never will under the current scheme.
  22. He covered for a lot of Hamlin’s poor angles/mistakes and was the last line of defense to tackle ball carriers before they scored. I’d agree, he had a pretty good year last year… for an average to below average starting safety. This year he just hasn’t been up to the task.
  23. The Lions last game had an entirely different secondary than they opened the season with. And they performed very well. No excuses, man up and figure it out.
