Gameday Thread Eagles @ Bills 1st Half
Brand J replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, unless the Eagles choose the direction. If that happens the Bills will get the ball again. Only seen that a few times, always when wind was involved. -

The way I understand it, the Eagles have to pick to receive the ball, or the direction. -
Game Thread MNF: Patriots at Jets on ESPN

Doesn’t matter how many points the Patsies have, they never stop trying to score. That’s a mindset I’d like our HC to adopt. -
Does Beasley’s TD tamp down his growing frustration?
Brand J replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for posting this... Beasley had a safety in his area, but not close enough to break up the pass had it gone to him. It also stands to reason the safety was shading the left side of the field because that’s where Josh was looking. Had he looked at Beasley after the PA the safety most likely would’ve had closer coverage. This is exhibit A for “move the safety with your eyes,” but in this case there wasn’t a need since Duke got open on his man. I’d like to see Josh manipulate the defenders more though. He’s too quick to escape a clean pocket rather than standing in there and scanning the full field. -

I have to see the All-22, but on that pass to Duke it looked like Beasley was running uncovered on the right side of the field for an even bigger gain. -
I thought we were getting a Dermontti Dawson/Kevin Mawae type of center in Morse, but that’s not the case. Feliciano could’ve played in the pivot for far less and the line would look relatively the same. That’s unfortunate.

1st HALF THREAD: Dolphins at Bills, 1 pm ET on CBS

You still have to find those WRs and accurately deliver the ball. There’s no question Allen leaves many plays on the field. -

Every other QB has put up video game numbers against the Dolphins and they came into this game missing a couple starters in the secondary. Think about that if Allen continues to struggle. -

Who knew missing half their starters on OL, due to injury or trades, the Dolphins O would look much more competent than the Bills O against a much stronger D. Sleepwalking. -
Josh Allen’s deep ball hasn’t been there so far
Brand J replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would Josh be allowed to hire collegiate athletes? If I was him, in the off-season I’d hire about 10 guys with varying speeds (anywhere from 4.3 to 4.6) and have them run go route after go route. He’d work “in the pocket” on movement and launching those passes downfield, accurately hitting his targets. I said before he was misfiring on the long ball in his pro day workout. At the very least he should be hitting those passes against air. -
Buffalo Bills Revenge Tour 2019-2020
Brand J replied to Bobby Hooks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s an interesting observation, but unfortunately a regular season win in 2019 does nothing to lessen the blow of losing those playoff games. -
When no one is schemed open or has 2-3 yards of separation, Allen will often roll out of a clean pocket, shortening the field and inviting the pass rush. What I’d like to see is for him to stand in there and take chances when players are singled up down the field. He did this on the game winning drive against the Jets, threw it up and allowed Brown to make a play, but he doesn’t do it with any consistency. There were a number of times yesterday and in other games where players are singled up down the field but Josh lacks the trust to put the ball out there. Hopefully in the games to come he’ll give Duke those opportunities since he’s a bigger body - as well as Knox and Sweeney.
-
As long as no one expects Duke to be the second coming of Anquan Boldin, expectations should be tempered. I personally just want to see a player who’s hungry for the football. Someone who has that junk yard dog in him to fight for everything thrown his way. If he can show that, I’m good. I’m not expecting a superstar, just hoping for a reliable target who can bail his QB out once in awhile. He deserves a shot to succeed or fail.

The NFL’s current sack leader was once cut and put on a practice squad. The practice squad does not equate to “talentless,” or “inferior to ALL players on the 53.” The squad is simply an avenue for those who have not yet reached their potential, or just haven’t been afforded an opportunity (whether that’s because of numbers, politics, or whatever). There are ample practice squad players around the league that will be regular contributors once they get their shot, so to demean these guys’ skills is silly.

Josh Allen - Accuracy on the Long Ball
Brand J replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was missing on his deep balls versus air at his pro day, so I’m not surprised he’s missing them when 300 pound dudes are trying to sack him. That’ll be the next skillset he needs to develop. -
What if You Could Bring 1 Player Back - Who would it Be ?
Brand J replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jason Peters. Dawkins is a good LT, but not a great. Still gets beat too much for my liking. 2nd choice would be an Eric Moulds in his prime. -
Eight sacks for the Steelers. EIGHT! They only had six on the season coming into this game. Meanwhile we were struggling to get to Dalton. Only 3 QB hits all game.

This is how the Bills should’ve embarrassed Cincinnati at home.

Josh's foot work in the first qtr - Woof
Brand J replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As others have said, I can’t totally fault Allen for not seeing Gore’s defender slip because his primary read on the play was Zay Jones... and he had him. The problem is Allen held the ball. Off of play action, he looks to Zay, sees the safety isn’t in position to break up the pass, so he had to let it go right then. Zay obviously had separation (or was on his way to getting it) which makes the decision to launch an anticipatory throw all the better. Throw the ball to a spot, let him run under it. Would Zay have made the catch? Now that’s debatable. -
QB Minshew is a gamer. Jags lucked out on that find.

Zay Jones blocking ability - I’m impressed

Nate Geary is having a 20 min rant (and counting) on Zay Jones ?
