  1. I’d like to see a replay of that last 4th down call. Looked like cover 0 and Beasley shook away from his man.
  2. Lamar is extremely accurate in his short to mid range game. Very difficult to stop when the defense is keyed on the run.
  3. We’ve had players open behind the defense as well, but the QB throws 5 yards over their heads.
  4. Two three & outs in a row, 2 overthrown deep balls to WRs that were open. No doubt Allen has to work on this in the off-season.
  5. “The Shark” (as in Great White) ?
  6. Contain the edges, muck up the middle and take away Lamar’s intermediate options over the middle of the field. That’s how you stop the Ravens, but it’s asking a lot. When the RPO isn’t as effective, they’re far less impressive running a traditional offense.
  7. I might have turned the game off if it was upheld. A hit in-bounds that wasn’t overly malicious is in no way shape or form a personal foul, regardless if it’s a QB is carrying the ball.
  8. I want “roughing the passer” calls to return to how they were officiated under Tagliabue. The ticky tack calls being made today are insufferable.
  9. Allen is trending in the right direction, but he’s not on Lamar’s MVP level. Hope he can eventually get there!
  10. I’ve been pretty vocal about my contempt for Star, but lately he’s playing like the early Carolina version rather than the JAG who averages less than a tackle per game; the one who was losing snaps to Harrison Phillips. He’s turned it on the past couple of weeks, effort seems much greater. Don’t know what happened behind the scenes, but I hope he continues the relentless hustle he’s shown lately. The team needs it.
  11. It was probably his best game as a Bill. He stood out for all the right reasons.
  12. I’d like for the competition committee to reassess personal fouls offsetting with run of the mill penalties in the offseason. Any personal foul committed should trump every other penalty, even if they only want to credit the offense with 5 yards before replaying the down.
  13. Sorry, dude, but you’re a joke. Obviously I know Allen does throw to covered receivers, every QB in the NFL does that. His pass last week on 3rd and 4 was to a covered Brown. Don’t tell me what I meant to say because you want to win an “argument.” He doesn’t throw successfully to covered receivers, which is why I said he doesn’t throw them open. Common sense, continue on your pedantic ways.
  14. Yeah, Allen has much room to grow. I cited the areas of improvement that are critical to elevating his game. Someone wanted to be pedantic and throw a naked stat at me because I should’ve included the word “successful” before saying he only throws to receivers that are open. But hey, that’s what we do as Bills fans I suppose ?
  15. Okay, he throws to covered receivers 14% of the time, who knows the result of those plays or if there were other receivers open during the same play. I didnt twist anything, but there you go.
  16. Oh jeez, I said Allen holds back the offense because he lacks in areas top QBs are proficient in, including throwing receivers open. He waits until receivers are open before throwing it, because that’s where the vast majority of his attempts and completions come from. A stat saying Allen throws into a tight window 14% of the time lacks a lot of context, it’s just a naked stat. It’s higher than those other QBs you referenced, but is it because he fails to see another open player during the same play? Is he completing those tight window passes? Look, I’d love to see Allen succeed, he’s QB of my team, but let’s not act like the offensive struggles are not a product of QB play.
  17. One, where did those numbers come from? And two, what’s his completion percentage in those situations versus other QBs? Allen lacks in timing, touch, anticipation, and field vision, so it’s no coincidence he doesn’t throw his receivers open. That holds back the offense. Nice try at a “debate” though.
  18. True, Brown is having a career year, despite missing on many other plays. But to think Allen isn’t holding back the offense, based on his play, I don’t know what you’re watching. Every QB leaves plays on the field, but because our receivers have to be open before Allen throws the ball (and even then he doesn’t always throw it) we leave more plays on the field versus those teams who have better QBs. It really can’t be debated.
  19. It means great QBs elevate the level of play of those around them. You’d get greater production out of those “covered” WRs with a better QB.
  20. The reality is, on most plays receivers will appear covered. It’s on the QB to “throw them open” the majority of the time. Saying Duke doesn’t get open is only true to an extent, if he (Or any of the other receivers on the roster) had a top shelf QB throwing the ball, those players would be in a better position to succeed (or fail if they’re not up to catching passes in tight quarters).
  21. If we weren’t trading up for Rosen I was a fan of picking Jackson at 23, but then I heard him speak... I (wrongly) allowed his vernacular to correlate to his football IQ and I assume most NFL GMs felt the same. On the surface you had a guy perform at a high level at a division I program, putting up stats his comparable, Vick, could only dream about, but since the NFL is such a cerebral league, I didn’t think he’d have what it took to thrive. It’s still early, but I wish the Bills would’ve kept both 2nd rounders and selected Jackson at 23. Even if he wasn’t the same player on the Bills as he is in Baltimore, I do think he’d be an upgrade to Allen. At some point talent takes over, even in the face of lesser coaching.
  22. Most of us were skeptical about an underperforming Mountain West QB becoming a franchise QB at the most difficult level of football. Every stat that was pulled suggested he‘d be an NFL bust, I remember one had the likelihood at 81%! While I wouldn’t call him a bust, I don’t think he’ll ever be anything more than an average or slightly above average QB. All the traits required to be an elite signal caller - timing, touch, anticipation, accuracy, field vision - he struggles at every single one. Asking and/or expecting him to make giant leaps of improvement in those areas is probably unfair to him. He is what he is and what he is isn’t good enough.
  23. I don’t believe McDermott and Allen are a super bowl winning combination, so they need to move on from one or both. As Leodis McKelvin used to say, “point blank period.”
  24. Meanwhile Lamar Jackson just put on another clinic ? One of these days we’ll get that position right, just keep picking them.
  25. Don’t know if this has been discussed, but I absolutely HATED the 3rd and 8 run to play for a FG. Don’t know if that falls on Daboll or McD’s direction, but it was a cowardly call that was bailed out by defensive holding. The coaches lack aggression, I wish they were as greedy as Belicheat and co. That timid mindset trickles down to the players. There was a quote a week or two ago from Allen that went something like “with the way our defense plays, I don’t feel like I always have to throw for touchdowns.” Whaaat?! Anyone else catch that golden nugget?
