  1. I think there have been more than a few WRs that have been more talented, or physically intimidating than Jerry Rice, but here's the thing: none of them match Rice in terms of work ethic, desire, and mental focus/attitude. That is what sets him apart from the rest of the supremely talented WRs in NFL history.
  2. Yes, that would be my idea precisely. It is a much better idea than to select an inexperienced corner, turn him into a safety, and ignore the fact that another quality speed rusher was still on the board. I also never said anything about a rook not being an impact player for years. Some rookies "get it" early and are able to contribute immediately. What if "God Forbid (knocking on wood)" Maybin gets hurt? Who would be our edge rusher to complement Schobel if that were to happen John from Hemet?? We would be in the same predicament as we were in last year...
  3. Maybe draft a second DE - Everett Brown - rather than opting for a Safety...? Pressure up front always makes an average player in the secondary, a much better performer. I was happy with the Maybin pick, but coming away with two young edge/speed rushers would have been ideal.
  4. I too would agree with that... Unless we're talkin about Buffalo Bills vs __________ Super Bowl tickets!
  5. I wonder how Lebron James would do as a WR. 6'8" 245 with speed and jumping ability?? He'd be unstoppable...
  6. I disagree with your assertion that we suck because we are starting 2 rookies on the OL, but I've been arguing the point that Hangartner may be the odd man out on the OL. Few people on this board considered the possibility, most others were shouting his praises: "Hangartner was the number 1 free agent the Bills targeted" (4 yrs/$9.6million - barely above backup salary) "Dick Jauron said that Hangartner will be the starting C" Dick Jauron says a lot of things that aren't necessarily true "Hangartner is a good center" Really? Is that why he has only started 27 out of 54 games in his career??... I think he is only marginal and I would like our real C - Eric Wood - to assume the 2nd most important position on the line starting with preseason game #1. Geoff Hangartner Draft Profile
  7. Wow... U gotta lot of researchin to do! Let's See: 1) Jason Peters held out all of last offseason and didnt return until the first game of the season. 2) The Bills started out like a true playoff team. Comebacks and blowouts that we haven't seen in these parts in quite some time. 3) Trent Edwards gets knocked out of the game in the Bills first loss of the season against the Cardinals. He would not look like the same QB who began the year 4-0. 4) After a 5-1 start, the Bills proceed to go 2-8 the rest of the way, missing the playoffs for the 9th straight year (tied with Lions)... 5) Despite the collapse, Dick Jauron is retained as head coach after 3 straight seasons of 7-9. 6) Fans are disgusted and vow to cut the grass on Sundays rather than watch the Dick Jauron led Bills. Well, that is until they signed WR Terrell Owens (released by Cowpokes). 7) Malcontent LT Jason Peters is traded to Philly for a 1st, 4th, and conditional (6th) pick next year. 8) Terrell Owens + A Solid Draft = Renewed Optimism for the upcoming season. How did I do??
  8. Seeing his picture, that clears up thoughts that I had concerning the possibility of relation...
  9. That Hangartner could be the player backing up the C/G spots? If Hangartner doesn't prove to be more talented than Wood, Levitre, or Butler, he could play the same role here as he did in Carolina: backup interior lineman. IMO the line will probably read as follows: LT - Walker LG - Levitre C - Wood RG - Butler RT - Bell/Chambers Game day backups - Hangartner, Bell/Chambers
  10. Ok I have a plan... Let's hope that Crabtree falls to 11 so that we can draft him. But DONT stop there: then, we can send our 2nd rounder to AZ for Boldin! That way we'll have Evans, Owens, Boldin, Crabtree, Reed, Parrish, Hardy, Johnson, and Jenkins all on the roster!! :wallbash:
  11. I apologize if I dont have as much faith as you do in Kirk Chambers as a full time starter. My lasting image of him comes from the first Jets game: Kris Jenkins plows through Kirk Chambers as if he were tissue paper, leaving him on his knees and grasping for his jersey, before ultimately sacking T. Edwards.

  13. I'd feel a lot better if a young Aaron Schobel was making these comments. Kyle Williams is an effort player, not a gifted player. I would like to hear comments about Bell from a playmaking DE...
  14. Ok, NO MORE Tony Gonzales threads please! This issue (and exploration of a trade deal) is over and done with...
  15. Or how about give him 9 or so games of starting experience and then outright cut him for no apparent reason? (Terrence Pennington)
  16. NO MORE TRADING UP!! If anything, trade down and accumulate more picks. I cant remember the last time that we traded up and landed a true impact player. Like another poster said, we are not 1-2 players away from fielding a nasty team, we need lots of help and lots of draft picks.
  17. So what you're saying is that you didn't like the Mike Williams pick?
  18. I like Cook or Ingram in the 3rd. This draft is loaded with pass catching tight ends!
  19. I like how some of you are saying that Aaron consistently gets double teamed. Double teamed?! He hasnt been doubled in the last three years!! Their have been scrub LTs that have been handling Schobel. Maybe that was due to the foot last year, but he hasnt been a threat at DE for almost 3 years now. Whoever brought it up that he only has one move - a wide loop to the outside - was spot on. He lacks the speed/agility to burn his man quickly and consistently... We desperately need two new DEs.
  20. Well according to some "insiders" we had many offers to trade down the year we drafted Donte Whitner. Unfortunately this year's draft could play out the same way. We'll probably stand pat at #11 (despite numerous trade down offers) and select another player the caliber of Donte Whitner. It's the Bills, what can I say??
  21. I think that we should stand our ground at #11 and draft another Donte Whitner caliber player. How many of you just threw up in your mouth a little bit?!
  22. I remember back when we selected Puke Preston over Brown and Mel Kiper was confused. Said that Jason Brown was excellent value and graded out much higher than Puke Preston and was wondering why the Bills selected Preston over him. At the time I thought that the Bills scouts had done their homework; obviously Kiper is the one who knew what he was talking about...

  24. Is that Marvin Philip or Junior Seau?!?!
  25. What is this "trade down" that you speak of? These Bills trade up for marginal talent that couldve been had at their original spots - Posluszny, McCargo. The best thing that you can do in the draft, is stand pat in rounds 1-3, because there is no such thing as "cant miss" prospects. In these last two drafts alone, with our multiple 3rd round picks, we shouldve came out with at least 8 players picked in rounds 1-3 rather than the 6 chosen. Instead, we ignored requests to trade down and instead traded up to draft marginal talent. THAT is why these Bills have not been to the playoffs in this millenium...
