  1. Bills fans have a tendency to devalue any QB that isn’t their own. I’m sure if you made a poll asking if we’d rather have Mahomes or Allen, Allen would win while the majority of posters would talk about Mahomes’ “shortcomings” and why he’d be unsuccessful in Buffalo. It’s fine to support Allen, he’s our guy, but I’m not one to ignore how other QBs perform around the league or devalue those players because their performance surpasses what we have here in Buffalo.
  2. It’s not the strong point of his game but it isn’t like he’s incapable. If you think he’s an average or below average passer, despite completing 66% of his passes with 36 TDs and a rating of 113, then you need to re-evaluate what you deem average or below average.
  3. Absolutely not. He went in the 1st because he’s an above average passer with HOF running ability. If the Bills has selected him at 22, we’d all love him.
  4. No doubt his greatest strength is passing over the middle. His greatest attribute as a passer may be his ball placement. We can say “if we take this away or if we take that away, Jackson would be... (fill in the blank)” but you can’t take away what he does on the field regardless of surrounding circumstances (strong rush game/great TEs/solid OL/etc). I’d categorize Lamar as an above average passer.
  5. Allen has the better arm without question, but Lamar’s vision and accuracy are decidedly better. When Lamar misses it’s usually by inches. When Allen misses it’s by yards.
  6. I wanted Metcalf or AJ Brown in the 2nd. One thing’s for sure, I wish the FO would stop trading up for players. We’ve burned quite a few premium picks and most often players taken after our selections go on to have better careers.
  7. Brees was such an anomaly, to be a relatively ho-hum QB his first couple years and then to transform to All Pro then to HOF quality, he’s just an outlier. I will say Allen - as much as he needs to improve - could possibly take another great leap in year three, because no other 1st round QBs come into the league with a resume as lacking as his. The fact he’s a first round QB with elite athletic traits gives him a longer leash than say, a 3rd rounder with the same traits and limited collegiate production. As much as I hope to see him improve, the Bills should also have eyes on drafting another young gun for next season.
  8. Within 2 seconds Hester went from taking two steps in the end zone to a full sprint. One tossed the ball to the ref, the other sprinted out of the end zone. Neither player gave himself up, the guy tossed a live ball, whether you want to acknowledge that or not. The refs aren’t there to interpret “intent,” they’re there to enforce rules.
  9. He tossed a live ball. It was ambiguous until that point because he hadn’t downed the football. Tossing a live ball doesn’t excuse him from abiding by the rules.
  10. If the Texans player had ZERO intentions of returning the ball, then he should’ve just let it hit the end zone, automatic touchback. If he turned on the Jets after taking those two steps and managed to get past a sleeping Bills return team, there’s nothing none of us could say about it because he never gave himself up as spelled out in the rules. I guess Devin Hester’s play here should’ve been blown dead as well if the refs are allowed to judge “intent”: Hester Returns FG Attempt
  11. We need a nasty, physical LB to man the middle. It’s okay if he comes off the field in nickel packages, but I don’t want Edmunds in the middle in base defense.
  12. Well, if the two QBs were switched and all other variables remained the same, I would expect Watson to vastly outperform Allen, not only because his OL would be better, but mainly because his talents would be going against a much inferior defense. Does anyone truly believe Allen would be capable of Watson’s performance if he went against that Buffalo defense with a shabby Houston OL? A Houston Texans team QB by Josh Allen all season doesn’t make the playoffs IMO.
  13. Terrible decision to punt on 4th and 4 from the 36 yard line. Are they trying to win??
  14. I’d like a way to congratulate the team on a fun season, but showing up at the airport to celebrate after they choke away the biggest game of the year isn’t a good look in my opinion.
  15. A popular quote I’ve heard all season that resurfaced after this game: “We’ll learn from this and move on...” Evidently they never learn.
  16. Does anyone have a replay of the pass in the end zone? I didn’t think it was a drop, I thought it was a bad adjustment to the ball. Someone else said his left arm was being grabbed. I think it was just misplayed.
  17. Allen was 24/46 for 264 with a 5.7 average 0 TDs and a 69.5 rating against one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. Watson was 20/25 for 247 with a 9.9 average, 1 TD and a 121.2 rating against one of the best pass defenses in the NFL. Is this thread still a thing?
  18. I wish we could inject Allen’s brain with Brady’s skills and knowledge of the position. None of these games would be close en route to a Super Bowl win ?
  19. Foster has much more raw talent than Duke Williams, but Williams seems to have a better feel for the position. Duke made a mistake running his route a yard short of the sticks earlier, but in general when I see him on the field, I’m not often asking “wth is he doing?” like I am with Foster.
  20. Gotta get another RT in the draft or FA. Nsekhe is old and frequently hurt.
  21. Allen is what he is... an extremely flawed QB who has the tools, desire, and work ethic to improve. I LOVE that he’s introspective and takes ownership when the offense sputters. I’d be more worried if he was “Tyrod like” and assessed the blame to “we” rather than “I”. Right now I don’t see him as a perennial “Super Bowl quality QB,” or future league MVP and last night I said we need to keep trying until we find that guy. With that said, I do believe he has what it takes to correct most of what ails him, so although he frustrates the hell outta me at times - mostly for not being at the level of the QBs we passed over - I’m gonna continue to ride with him. Here’s to hoping he gets it figured out and makes another jump in year 3. Go Bills!
  22. Allen has had his moments this season, mostly against subpar defenses, but I’m not sure if he’ll ever be a Super Bowl quality QB and if you don’t see a league MVP/Super Bowl winner when you watch him play, then you have to keep trying for that guy. I don’t think he is it.
  23. Haven’t read this thread, has anyone mentioned Drew Lock rolled out of bed and threw for more than 300? And a bunch of TDs?
