  1. Part of me was kind of surprised. In Haack, I thought they had vet insurance and would look towards the Draft and the market afterwards, depending on how it fell, for a competition. But locking in his salary and cap hit makes that unlikely now IMO. Though I suppose it's not entirely out of realm of possibility that they land Tory Taylor and just eat the 2m if they do. Would just seem to be questionable cap management at that point to pay 2m to cut him after the Draft instead of saving 1.25 by cutting him before.
  2. A better GIF for him would be one where the fisherman is in the process of putting the worm on the hook and the fish eagerly LEAPS out of the water before they're even done hooking it and diving down on the rod itself with a happy smile on his face.
  3. What continues? Him having confidence in himself as a player and him once again clapping back on someone, this time a respected veteran, who says he's "not that good"?
  4. Beane met with all 4 of those guys at the Combine and watched them on field there. Probably sent our positional coaches to check out the Texas Pro Day. Beane will get their thoughts, check the tape, and i'd bet a number of them are brought in for Pre-Draft visits.
  5. Agreed. I think Blackmon wanted to play the field some more and we felt we couldn't wait on him. I think it's on to the Draft now for Safety. Though I do find it more likely that he could come around and accept the incentive laden deal that we offered him than it is the Justin Simmons pie in the sky dream he's still holding on to.
  6. We also can't upgrade because there's nothing left. A grand total of 2 Punters left on the market according to Spotrac: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/punter/ I suspect they looked at the market and decided that Martin was the best option available to them. Outside of Cameron Johnston and Tommy Townsend - which were 3.25-4m in guarantees (do we really want to give upwards of 4m to the Punting position?), I don't know that there really was an upgrade available.
  7. Blackmon and Edwards? I tend to agree. I think it's a possibility, but unlikely.
  8. As I said in the Edwards thread, last thing floating around about Blackmon was that given his injury history - our offer was based on Incentive "performance based variable pay". Then Edwards was brought in. I'm guessing he wasn't ready to sign up for that and wanted to continue to play the field. We couldn't wait around though and signed Edwards. Maybe he comes back around and we get him later. But with Edwards and Rapp in house now, I'm guessing he gets a better opportunity both financially and in a situation where there's less of a competitive aspect. Though I'd love to have Blackmon, Edwards, and Rapp together.
  9. Not at all surprising. Between Adonai Mitchell and Xavier Worthy at WR and Byron Murphy and T'Vondre Sweat at DT - there's 4 potential Bills 1st or 2nd Rounders working out in one place.
  10. Better signing and better player than people are giving him credit for. Prospect I was interested in coming out of the Draft. 1 of 4 Safeties left that I thought could be a Starter for us. I'm thinking the plan is Edwards, Rapp, and a mid round pick (perhaps even a 2nd). Maybe they could still sign Blackmon too. But my guess is that it was either or. Last I heard on Blackmon was that we wanted his contract to be based on Incentive "performance based variable pay". My guess is that he wasn't willing to sign on to that and is still looking. Maybe he doesn't get a better offer and doubles back. But I think Edwards was brought in bc of that.
  11. If I was doing this on Twitter, i'd be having people think I was a "source". This is all nobodies like ECB do on Twitter. Find something that makes sense, say we're in on it, and make people think they're "locked in".
  12. I don't advocate for going DT in Round 1. However, this Simulator being what it is - you can get Legette at 60 pretty regularly. I don't believe that's reality. And often the cupboard is pretty bare at WR at 28. According to the PFN algorithm, this may be one of my favorites I've done. Albeit COMPLETELY unrealistic.
  13. I mean, there was talk of the out in his contract this year being exercised for a little over a million in Cap Space. We signed Matt Haack back and there were some wondering if he was going to replace Martin because of said out in his contract. His salary and cap hit now being locked in, making it less likely he'll be released, is at least slightly newsworthy.
  14. I manifested the Mike Edwards visit. So let's try it again.... I feel like we'll be in on Austin Johnson and/or Tierre Tart at Defensive Tackle.
  15. Had the exact same thought. Watching him limp around and kick lame ducks, I remember thinking "man, Haack must have been shanking literally everything in practice for this to make any sense".
  16. Just referring to taking Lawson's roster spot as 4th or 5th in the Edge rotation.
  17. Since everyone hangs on Stefon Diggs' every move on Social Media - he posted a video today of himself doing workouts in Bills shorts on his Instagram story. Strange voluntary choice of workout apparel if he doesn't want to be a Bill anymore.
  18. @GunnerBill - you were talking about needing to see Legette in Round 1 Mocks to believe he's being considered there. Mel Kiper's latest Round 1 Mock had him. Personally, if we took a CB and our guy went the very next pick, my sobriety would be seriously tested. https://www.on3.com/pro/news/2024-nfl-draft-mel-kiper-makes-big-changes-in-updated-mock-draft-five-qbs-in-first-round-predictions/
  19. Yeah, I assumed if you were holding me to that it would be the same on the other hand for you. Debt paid.
  20. Minimal cap saving of around 1.25m on a cut is now out. Good news is it seems like anyone worrying that Matt Haack was anything but a Camp Leg probably no longer needs to worry.
  21. You do know that DT's go around the area we picked Ed Oliver all the time, right? 2023: Pick 9 - Jalen Carter 2022: Pick 13 - Jordan Davis 2020: Pick 7 - Derrick Brown 2019: Pick 3: Quinnen Williams 2019: Pick 9 - Ed Oliver 2019: Pick 13 - Christian Wilkins 2018: Pick 12 - Vita Vea 2018: Pick 13 - Daron Payne 2016: Pick 12 - Sheldon Rankins 2015: Pick 6 - Leonard Williams 2015: Pick 12 - Danny Shelton 2014: Pick 13 - Aaron Donald You're treating Defensive Tackle as if it were Running Back. It's a valuable position. There's a reason why they've been so expensive this offseason. It isn't absurd at all to take a DT in the Top 10 if that's where they're ranked on the Draft Board. And Ed Oliver was a Top 10 talent in 2019.
  22. I don't understand. On one hand, you're arguing that you put him at the X. On the other you're saying "Imagine a defensive coordinators nightmare not knowing for sure on every play who X,Y or Z really was on any given play". I'm not advocating you never put him on the Boundary. I'm open to having him there from time to time. I'm simply saying where he's found success in the league is not there full time. You put him where he's succeeded. Samuel full time Outside is a projection and a gamble.
