Diggs cryptic comments - 2024 edition
BillsFanForever19 replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think you're reading too much into the stats tweet he did. But I guess that's kind of par for the course for this thread. He wasn't complaining about his targets. He was simply using his stats to argue that he's still "him". He verified that was the point of the tweet in a follow up tweet. Even if he hadn't explained the tweet and we were reading things into it, as is the case with most of the things he says, there's more than one way to look at it. He could have easily been saying "look what I did while ranking just 19th in targets". -

Next year, it wouldn't be a shock to me or practically anyone. Unless he had a massive year. -

Of course. He's 30. But next year is the soonest it should be done. Both from a financial standpoint and a roster standpoint. -

It's a different day and age. This is what people born in the mid 90s and 2000's do. It is what it is. It's not so different than a lot of players. Ever looked at Rasul Douglas' Twitter account? The difference is Diggs is an NFL Celebrity. Everything he says or does captures the fan and medias attention. Is it his fault that everyone chooses to play the Da Vinci Code with everything he says or does? Should he stop being him just bc people hold him to a different standard? -
Yeah, pretty much all of the Simulators rankings are f-cked. Honestly, they're kind of a waste of time. I've yet to find one where I think it's pretty spot on. And there's always a handful of players on the board at spots where I'm like "no way". Like Jefferson. I'd already taken Jackson and Hall, but then I'm looking over my options at 248 and thought "wait, what?".

What are we going to get with the money saved after June 1st? The market is dry. And we're paying him 18.5m to trade him after 6/1. You save essentially the same amount next season. What sense does it make to pay 18.5m for him this season to not be here when you can have him this year and save the same amount next season and use it when the market is full? It's poor GM practices to do it this season any way you look at it. You don't pay 18.5m in guarantees for someone who isn't going to be here. There's no trade offer that will be made for Diggs that's worth paying that much and not having him here. -

We have evidence of how he acts when he's unhappy on the field. This wasn't it. He also today took full responsibility for the very thing we're talking about. That's what I'm taking into account. -

I'm saying it had more to do with him being unhappy with the offensive scheme and the fit than it did "the tweets" specifically. Plus us offering a 1st Round pick. No GM trades a player based on cryptic tweets alone. -

Or "that close to a big play, it was right there - let's keep the foot on the gas". Like anything else with him, there's a million different ways of looking at it. But if you've got an axe to grind, you're only going to look at it in the way that fits your narrative and ignore any other possibility. -

I'm sure it was specifically the tweets. -

If that is true, i'd trust it even less. I wouldn't trust Antonio Brown telling me whether or not it's going to rain. And the idea that anyone in the NFL who makes decisions is telling Brown anything, when he's essentially persona non grata, is dubious at best. Would also explain the CTESPN handle and taking credit for "having Fields to the Steelers first" when they said Fields to the Steelers doesn't make sense. Guys brain is mush. -

Diggs, a mountain of dead cap, a 3rd, and a 4th for 2 2nd's? Pass. -

A lot of followers means nothing. ECB gained a lot of followers. Anyone without any media credentials that goes out of their way to say "I had it first" (especially when they really didn't) is a clout chaser. Prob has a lot of followers for calling themselves CTESPN. -

It hit him in the hands. If anything that's him saying "so close" in regards to the long ball pass and catch connecting. No way he's saying that was Josh's fault. He knows it wasn't and took full accountability for it. -

Uh, yeah, I gotta agree with the question mark. There was no reaction indicating it was Josh's fault. If there was, this board would never let it go. -

Since everybody loves to speculate on Diggs tweets, here's another possible explanation of "ready for whatever". I remember last season him being asked about a tweet he made by reporters. His response was "I thought everyone loves Drake? It was just a song lyric". To that end, maybe he's quoting a T.I. song. T.I. has a song titled "Ready for Whatever". Some of the lyrics are PRETTY fitting and fall more in line with someone tired of the talk around him (of which he tweeted about earlier): "Hate the price of fame It cost too much (aye yeah boy) And you lame ****** talk too much (aye yeah) I'm ready for whatever, somebody better tell 'em (aye yeah boy) I said I'm ready for whatever, hey, hey, hey Even though my head in the clouds, I'm planted on the pavement How I'm walkin' 'round, people starin' in amazement I play a lot of game, but well-being I ain't playin' with They so judgmental, maybe they don't understand" -
Samuel changes nothing. He's a great player and we're going to have him on the field as much as you can. But he's more of a Slot that you can use on the Outside in certain packages. He's not a guy you put exclusively on the Boundary and call it a day. The plan all offseason was to go from a decent, yet unspectacular core to potentially a spectacular one. Replacing Gabe Davis, Deonte Harty, and Trent Sherfield with Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins doesn't do that. Still one more step to take.

Exactly. You keep him this year. But at the same time, you don't make it harder on yourself to move on next year, if it's necessary. -
Justin Fields traded to Steelers

A 2025 6th?! That's the best they could do? With multiple teams nowhere at QB and relying on a Rookie? Man, the league doesn't think much of Fields.
