Not at all surprising. Between Adonai Mitchell and Xavier Worthy at WR and Byron Murphy and T'Vondre Sweat at DT - there's 4 potential Bills 1st or 2nd Rounders working out in one place.

Better signing and better player than people are giving him credit for. Prospect I was interested in coming out of the Draft. 1 of 4 Safeties left that I thought could be a Starter for us. I'm thinking the plan is Edwards, Rapp, and a mid round pick (perhaps even a 2nd). Maybe they could still sign Blackmon too. But my guess is that it was either or. Last I heard on Blackmon was that we wanted his contract to be based on Incentive "performance based variable pay". My guess is that he wasn't willing to sign on to that and is still looking. Maybe he doesn't get a better offer and doubles back. But I think Edwards was brought in bc of that.

If I was doing this on Twitter, i'd be having people think I was a "source". This is all nobodies like ECB do on Twitter. Find something that makes sense, say we're in on it, and make people think they're "locked in".

I don't advocate for going DT in Round 1. However, this Simulator being what it is - you can get Legette at 60 pretty regularly. I don't believe that's reality. And often the cupboard is pretty bare at WR at 28. According to the PFN algorithm, this may be one of my favorites I've done. Albeit COMPLETELY unrealistic.

I mean, there was talk of the out in his contract this year being exercised for a little over a million in Cap Space. We signed Matt Haack back and there were some wondering if he was going to replace Martin because of said out in his contract. His salary and cap hit now being locked in, making it less likely he'll be released, is at least slightly newsworthy.

Had the exact same thought. Watching him limp around and kick lame ducks, I remember thinking "man, Haack must have been shanking literally everything in practice for this to make any sense".

It's a valuable position. There's a reason why they've been so expensive this offseason. It isn't absurd at all to take a DT in the Top 10 if that's where they're ranked on the Draft Board. And Ed Oliver was a Top 10 talent in 2019.

I don't understand. On one hand, you're arguing that you put him at the X. On the other you're saying "Imagine a defensive coordinators nightmare not knowing for sure on every play who X,Y or Z really was on any given play". I'm not advocating you never put him on the Boundary. I'm open to having him there from time to time. I'm simply saying where he's found success in the league is not there full time. Wait, so you're saying that you lean towards him staying on this team, just as I do. But if he is traded, you're going to take personal victory laps for being right that he *was* traded, and clown me for all eternity? Talk about having your cake and eating it too. There is no losing here for you - as if he stays, you'll say "well yeah, I leaned that way the whole time" - even though your entire footprint on this thread has been disagreeing with anyone who says it's unlikely to happen and anyone who reads into what's said as anything but the worst. Honestly, I don't think our stances are all that different. We're just coming from different sides of it. Your stance is he'll most likely be here, but you oppose people who think there's no chance he could be moved. My stance is that he'll most likely be here, but I oppose people who see no chance that his tweets mean anything but the worst and that it's likely, if not, necessary we trade him in 2024 and can't wait for 2025. At this moment, I don't see it happening. Am I closed off to the idea that things could change? No. If he were to wake up tomorrow and take to Twitter and clearly (not cryptically) state he wants out, that would be different than where we're at right now. Which is just fans and a portion of the media running with assumptions, rumor, and innuendo passed as fact.

It's not the preferred choice by me or most fans. But it's not an "AWFUL" idea. Right now we have Ed Oliver and Daquan Jones at DT and that's literally it. And we use a heavy rotation there. DT will probably be one of our first 2 picks. And there's an argument to be made with how deep WR is and how thin top prospect D-Line talent is that it makes more sense to take the DT first and trade up in Round 2 for a WR. I'd rather we didn't do that. But to say there isn't merit in the idea or that it's "AWFUL" isn't true.

The Cover 1 guys have been big on Mike Edwards as a potential Safety in our system. I trust them over PFF grades.

I mean we're "moving" one player over and replacing him with a guy who played there rotationally last season. You don't spend a 1st or even a 2nd on a Backup Center. A starting Center takes 100% of snaps unless there's an injury. You don't spend a 1st on depth that isn't rotational and doesn't have a clear path to a Starting job. Especially when there's a million other holes elsewhere, including Starters and positions where there's rotation. And doing so wouldn't remedy the situation of Josh having not taken a snap from anyone on the roster. That's just a situation that was going to happen one day or another with Morse getting up there in age. McGovern was solid. But a big part of Morse being moved was that McGovern and Morse weren't a great combo together. For as good as McGovern was at holding the line and not allowing pressure to get through, he's not good at pushing Defenders back in the Rush game. Neither was Morse. That kind of skill is better for Center. As outside of short yardage situations, you're not running it straight up the middle (and we use a pusher in those situations anyways). You want your LG to get push. They see McGovern as tailor made for Center. That's how you feel. But their actions and words have said this is what they feel is best. And that trumps your feelings. We made the move of Morse and Bates because we had a plan and pieces in place for Center. Makes no sense, with the amount of holes we have, to voluntarily choose to blow that up and then spend our 1st Rounder to fix it. If it isn't WR, which it should be - it needs to be DE, as Miller could be toast and Epenesa, while great in rotation, probably isn't an every down Starter and we have nothing beyond Groot, Von, and Epenesa in the rotation. Or DT, as we only have Oliver and Daquan and literally nothing else for the rotation. Even DB is more of a need than Center, as we have only Taylor Rapp (a marginal starter) and dubious depth in Lewis and Hamlin. Depth Center and OG is something we'll address with FA's on a bargain or mid Round Draft picks for development and insurance. But you don't spend a 1st or a 2nd on those roles.

Were you not aware of this when you made your post? McGovern starting at Center and David Edwards taking McGovern's spot was everywhere as soon as we re-signed him.

"Minnesota traded him" is what you've got as your smoking gun for everything. Minnesota trading him in 2020 when he was younger and cheaper vs. us doing it now, especially after his 18.5m salary has become guaranteed, is not a 1 to 1 comparison.
