  1. Chapter 1 How to get away with illegal picks and rub routes and push every single rule to it's absolute maximum instead of lining up and playing the game like everyone else. Chapter 2 Why Pete Carrol and Mike Shanahan are still considered good coaches in the NFL despite them handing us our last two championships due to them trying to get cute and refusing to run the ball and win the game in the final minutes that they both clearly should have won. (hint: there is no answer)
  2. Hogan vs Sammy? Call it playing big or small or medium or whatever you want, Hogan is average and Sammy is elite. The separation he gets is incredible, against the best corners in the game.
  3. Offensive line rankings should fall roughly in line with total offensive points scored. They go hand in hand. In our case we ranked 10th and I'd say thats a fair ranking. Roman and Lynn have set a good foundation here for running the ball, now its up to Dennison to get Tyrod an offense that keeps him upright and moving dem chains!
  4. This is true. That amendola 2 point conversion near the end of the superbowl was the textbook example of an illegal pick. Complete joke that it wasnt called.
  5. Good breakdown. Wondering how deep GM's go into data like this when looking at team needs. We certainly have gone heavier on defense in the past few drafts and in coaching hires, hopefully it pans out. One other analytic I'd love to see is how many games we would have won if we had the best kicker in the league vs what we've had in the past 2 years. I still think drafting the best college kicker should have been a priority these past few years. Seems to be an afterthought for a lot of teams yet these guys have massive impacts on outcomes.
  6. Not blaming the guy for following his dreams, but man it would suck to be his kids and get dragged to 7 different cities growing up. Nice bank account dad, can you buy me a time machine and a childhood best friend now?
  7. He's a fine coach, you can tell already. Won't matter without the franchise QB though, sadly enough. We may already have the right qb on our roster, but if we don't he'd better have a plan to get one AT ALL COSTS or he's back to a lifetime coordinator job. There are a lot of coaches that could have been HOF but were fired after a few years because they didn't have the right qb. We have 2 1st rounders next year, I'd throw in our 2019 1st round pick to make a run at a trade up for a stud qb if I were the coach and could influence my front office enough to do it. Gotta roll the dice baby.
  8. Yeah because the world famous New Orleans school districts are top notch and it's so safe down there. I'm not saying it was the wrong call financially ($28M guaranteed baby!), but don't say it's a better location to move your family than Orchard Park because it's not even close. My friend lives in a very nice neighborhood and they have armed security patrols from private companies that cruise their community. He may have played OK last year (2 picks, 80 tackles) but he's considered to be on of the worst free agent signings they've ever had. Still hitting them with $8M in dead money. Ouch
  9. Agree. I'll take a no win season for a franchise qb. Right now our biggest dark horse is that KC pick. If Alex Smith went down, Mahomes would take reigns with basically no solid WR's and that offense would sputter. (they still might anyway, although they'll be impossible to score on at home) If KC and the Bills each end up picking around 10 or 12, we would have significant power to make a move and trade into a top pick. Oops, thread hijack. Sorry. With that in mind i'll say Barnidge is the guy I think we should grab. Dont trust clay's body anymore. .
  10. there's more than a strong correlation between velocity and distance, they're exactly the same thing. Both based on the amount of energy transferred to the ball at the time of release. Speed of release and having a fast throwing motion means so much in the nfl, Peterman is adequate in that regard and seems like he's confident and smart enough to have a shot as a starter, but the odds of 5th round qb's going anywhere are miniscule for sure. He will beat out Cardale for the 3rd spot. Which means my Cardale For Tight End campaign will be in full swing for training camp.
  11. The funny thing is the Pats front office is the most disloyal in the history of the NFL. They don't care about Mike or anyone else except Brady, and they've proven it time and time again. A deceitful, smug organization that I would still loathe even if they werent in our division. If they had any integrity they'd have plaques of pete carroll and dopey shanahan on their wall for handing them their past two championships by refusing to simply run the ball and close the deal.
  12. Barnidge would make some sense with Clay's health being iffy, but the other option is to bank it and possibly make a run at Kirk Cousins next season if the skins can't retain him. Weird how we couldn't scrape up a little extra for TD Mike and now we have 10 times that amount sitting here doing nothing.
  13. It's hard to say what ended up making him decide exactly with his wife from the Balt area and generally better weather, I don't blame them for that move. The dude was hurt last year and isn't the most sturdily built guy, but man he has had some monster games and would have been nice to have on our side if Sammy has another off year with his health. Barnidge ought to be a strong consideration at this point, with Clay's health iffy these days.
  14. Man did he have a sweet throw though. He and Lee Evans had some nice nfl highlights https://youtu.be/Xwp5E3fV91U .
  15. Message boards can be great things for sure. Most everybody here likes to bust on each other, and sometimes a personal feud can hijack an entire thread, but the OP's point is a good one. Good to see nervous guy chime in too ! In other news, if they found Brian Cox's body in the river back in the 90's, you might have an entirely different view of this board.....
  16. i like a lot of Whaley's moves, including the gamble on EJ. The Boobie Dixon over Freddy Jax was a complete bonehead move, and as it turned out, that was a year we needed Fred more than ever both on and off the field.
  17. Not 7 years into his career. Thats never a time for a 1 year deal from a players perspective. Look this guy is the best available WR in the league by a long way, and has proven to be a 1st team all pro. We're 89 days from the Jets opener and our top 2 wideouts are injured. We have the cap room and we're not signing any other expensive talent this year. Yes we would be rolling the dice and probably overpaying the guy, but he could legitimately change a game or two for this team.
  18. Brandon Spikes 2.0 He should have came over last year, he would have fit in nicely with the rest of our slow LB's
  19. The only WR news I care about is signing Maclin. He's the only dude that can step in and be an instant game changer for us, and carry the load if Sammy can't do it. The rest is just camp fodder.
  20. Pat. Heart and soul of the team, great community guy, had tons left in the tank. That was a Patriots type move-- out thinking themselves.
  21. You mean 1st team all-pro Maclin vs the guy who only caught 28 balls for us last year? Ferrari's are great unless they're always in the shop. Then they're the opposite of great.
  22. I seriously doubt he ever said he wouldn't play for the bills. He seems really likeable, that pats team needs to lighten up anyway so I'm sure he helps in that regard. Really an incredible tight end in his prime, sadly I don't see the guy ever finishing an NFL season again, he's a medical mess at this point.
  23. He only got targeted 75 times last year but he can handle twice that.
  24. Our number one and number two receivers are currently injured and the season is less than 100 days away. I find it hard to believe that getting a reliable great wide receiver when we have the cap room to do it doesn't make perfect sense. If you haven't watched Maclin play, you should check him out. the guy can be dominant.
  25. He screwed with us so badly in his last season. Worse than Gilmore last year and that's saying something. He's the kind of "me first" player that no team needs.
