Like or dislike the future of the Bills Organization
Webster Guy replied to Bill_with_it's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The front office and the coaching changes are all meaningless unless we get a franchise qb. If we already had one there would be no shakeups at all because we'd be winning playoff games and it would make everything OK. With that in mind, all I care about from management is trading back or trading players and getting future picks until the next Andrew Luck comes along and we have the balls, risk tolerance and saved picks to make the move. So when the OP asks if im happy with the direction of the team, if that direction is a complete obsession with finding a franchise qb even at the risk of a winless season then I say yes. You can have the best coach, front office and ownership in the NFL but it means nothing unless you have the QB. This draft basically replaced Gilmore and Woods, we aren't way ahead by any means, but we did get the KC first round pick, and that's the only thing I care about. -
We should trade Sammy
Webster Guy replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
depends on his health which means any trade would likely be conditional. in other words, we trade for a 3rd rounder or something, but if he stays relatively healthy and puts up numbers we get a 1st, if he doesn't, well we get very little if he plays for us or anyone else. the smart business mind gives zero consideration to how much we gave up to get the guy, that's a sunk cost and already paid. the focus should be on how to get the most value for him, and what our options are with trades, extensions, tagging him next year, etc. i personally feel attached to Sammy and love watching him play--would be crushed to see him elsewhere. but a good GM might be able to find a team that is making a run and really needs an elite WR and pull the trigger on a trade. Man he is SO dominant when he's healthy though. Uncoverable. -
Tyrod will not be handed starting Job
Webster Guy replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Uh right. Like staying healthy last year, leading an offense that scored 25 ppg and amassing a QB rating ahead of guys like Big Ben, rivers, Carr, Wilson. Yeah he hasn't done anything. -
GM Doug Whaley has been fired
Webster Guy replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like they're some genius scouting department and know more than we do about players. It's all crazy. We traded up for Zay because we needed the guy and anyone who follows the draft knows there was a slim chance he'd be there for the 12th pick on day 2. Thats a long way from cheating -
NFL.com: Buffalo has the best draft grade!
Webster Guy replied to mileena's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Right. Because you know already who will pan out and who won't. They should have hired you as GM. -
RD6: PICK 195, TANNER VALLEJO (OLB), Boise State
Webster Guy replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gronk hasn't been much of a factor against us in recent years. He's so beat up all the time. Like brady, he's slowly gonna fade away to normalcy soon enough. -
RD 5, Pick 171: Nathan Peterman (QB) - Pitt
Webster Guy replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Judging qb's now is impossible. But I agree another DB or DLine depth guy would have made sense. -
Having two first-round picks next year gives us a significant draft advantage to be able to trade up into the first few spots and get a franchise qb. I think Cleveland is the only other team with 2 next year. What we want are teams that won't draft a QB next year to tank this season and get up into that 1st or 2nd spot for the 2018 draft. Teams like the Bears, Titans, Bucs, Colts and Panthers come to mind. (Obviously an Alex Smith injury or meltdown would work in our favor as well). It's likely that the Chiefs and Bills will average out to middle 1st round picks next year, and it would probably take our 2019 first round pick as well, but there's a very real possibility that this extra 1st round pick will put us in a position to outbid the field and get a Darnold type QB. So while you're rooting for the Bills--or against them like some of you miserable posters here--be sure to root against the Chiefs (yes even when they play New England) and the aforementioned teams. And of course, be a Browns fan if you aren't already....

I'd put Cardale in the top 5 NFL guys if there were a distance competition today.

Just when I think the Bills finally got smart...
Webster Guy replied to Wayne Arnold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On top of that, how can they judge the quality of a pick that hasn't played a down yet? Could be 3 pro bowlers or all busts, but either way, I will still never understand how people are so sure of the value of a draft pick when nobody can possibly know at this point. -
Bills leaning toward not picking Sammys 5th year option.
Webster Guy replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Everybody was on Julio Jones case when he had this foot injury, it took a long time but he is the best receiver in the world now. Sammy will kick ass this year. -
Who is going to play WLB for this defense?
Webster Guy replied to Brianmoorman4jesus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree with the OP, I'd rather have dealt with a hole at OT and have a fast rookie like Cunningham at weakside LB, who was still there when we took the big fella. All I can assume is Whaley might have one last free agent trick up his sleeve before he gets the boot. The guy is good at finding lb's that turn into pro bowlers. We will see how deep this draft really is now. Wondering if there is a consensus on the best strong safety still available. -
RD 2, Pick 63: Dion Dawkins (OT) - TEM
Webster Guy replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like that he's not Kujo height. My man Tyrod can't see over the super tall OLinemen. -
RD 2, Pick 63: Dion Dawkins (OT) - TEM
Webster Guy replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
2018 picks can be dealt still. You know mcD has his eye on a safety -
RD 2, Pick 37: Zay Jones (WR) - ECU
Webster Guy replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You clearly don't think Zay is worth the move up, but nobody will know for a long time until the games are played. But for me, I think this kid and Corey Davis will be the only two elite receivers to come from this draft. He is perfectly built for the job, tall but strong, durable, serious blocker, great hands, good character. Got a big catch radius and can get separation. Love this pick. -
Your Favorite Targets @ 44 Tomorrow ?
Webster Guy replied to Jamie Muellers Ghost's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like these four, Cunningham might end up being the best LB in this draft. Sheds blockers, fast to the ball and tall/fast enough to cover TE's. I think we run to the podium and get this kid if he's there at 44. -
Chiefs fans are laughing about the trade.
Webster Guy replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's the draft. Takes years to evaluate decisions and the players involved. Obviously. But we get an extra 3rd rounder today and that's a nice start. Having two first rounders next year is huge, but again, we're years away from being able to judge this move. -
anyone have the draft pick selection leak?
Webster Guy replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I used to have a source. They called marshawn and Gilmore picks (was keuchly then he got grabbed right in front of us so #2 BPA was Gilmore on our board) , but now with so many trade ups and trade downs he says boards are so fluid they move all the way up to the opening bell. For what it's worth he said defensive players dominated our draft board last year and that this year's board looked similar. But that was almost a month ago Still, odds are heavy for defense in first 2 rounds. -
Is this the most wide open draft in recent memory?
Webster Guy replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like all drafts, nobody has a freaking clue. Ever. In any year. It's really fun to look at mocks and research players but compare previous year's mocks to actual drafts and the hit rate is laughable. I would bet that Gunner Bill gets more right than Kiper or McShay. -
Potential Gillislee Replacement
Webster Guy replied to ROCBillsBeliever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You know Whaley is going to use the Patriots 5th rounder to grab a RB and pray he can do what karlos/TD Mike did. It's a guarantee. We got embarrassed trying to lowball gillislee so the only way to not look inept and pathetic is to get a gem runner that wins the #2 spot. So yeah this guy looks awesome, but remember he's breaking tackles on college kids not NFL animals. If he's there in the 5th hopefully we grab him. I sure wouldn't wanna tackle that joker. -
listening to wgr right now....poor doug whaley
Webster Guy replied to billsredneck1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would rather have Tyrod than either one of those two guys. He's way more fun to watch, but with comparable numbers. -
Yes. I might add the other stud in that Miami game was TD Mike. Fantastic runs. Looked like a guy worth $2.76M to me...... Ok I'm over it. But yeah McDermott gets it. When you watch the whole season as an aggregate, which can be done in 8 hours using the short cuts from my DVR, it becomes very obvious that a better defense and kicker gets us in the playoffs last year.

Sammy's foot fully healthy already??
Webster Guy replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i think he'll play the whole season this year. he's in his prime and this foot thing took just about as long as the doctors predicted it would last year. but i still agree with you that we need to draft another reliable target even with Sammy in the game. Don't think it will be round 1 though. McDermott has his chance to add some serious defensive talent here and he's pushing for some speed at LB and safety in the 1st two rounds. -
Here's How We Get the 1st and 2nd Overall Picks
Webster Guy replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Right. Its like, be careful what you wish for..... If that crazy logic worked, you wouldn't pull the trigger on the last move up to 1 and 2, you'd trade most of the picks back to Cleveland or San Fran to get their number one next year, which might just get you a franchise qb. -
Yeah like 10% max from a rate that is ridiculously low in the first place. So in other words your ride home will now cost about the price of one beer at the stadium.
