Bills halt contract negotiations with Cook
JP51 replied to Returntoglory's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe less complicated... Cook and a 4 or 5 for their 2. -
Being a top 3 team in scoring. Does it matter how we do it?

Just win. -
How far up in the 1st round could we move up with one of our 2nds?

I agree, I can see using one of our seconds to move up into the teens and get a difference maker... -

I do think if there is a reasonable possibility Beane would love to have him back... but I am not sure he is prepared to pay 15mm if Cook sticks to his guns. -

I am honestly starting to think this as well... we shall see... but I feel like its less than 50/50 -
I am with you, his play last year was beyond regrettable... we need to upgrade... there is no way I am paying him CB2 low end money... now you want him on the cheap to compete for CB4, depth etc... I know he wasnt worse than Elam in his short body of work... then fine do it... but they need to find an upgrade to CB2 and he isnt it IMO... with his size could he back up TJ in nickle etc... I just dont know enough to speculate... but if they have some alternative use for him past CB2 I am open to that as well... but no dont pay him...

So who knows who is available when the draft starts... needs everywhere on D and a few potentially on Offense... I think the strategy goes BPA for sure... I think there are some folks like Douglas, Tre, Winfield etc... without contracts if the went DL... I think they could bring Von back at the right price waiting for Hoecht, Cooper for WR if he is still there etc... gonna guess that one of these people come back on a minimal contract predicated on whom we draft... that said... if I am looking at tea leaves... the only real position that I dont see out there in FA with a ready made player is 1TDL so if there was a trade up, I could see it being for a Grant type player... I am hoping he has learned his reach lesson we shall see... I do think there is going to be another move after the draft to sign a player that is needed to compliment our current roster at a position that we cannot envision a draft pick starting or solidly backing up day 1. My guess.. on Rd 1.... I would rank the odds in the following order. 1. DL - Jones gets cut or becomes a rotational piece, I think if Grant is there we take him. 2. CB/S - Corner for sure but if we see Emmanori or Starks fall... could go there 3. WR - Interesting if Egbuka or Golden fall to us 4. Edge - I just dont see this rd one... maybe 2 or a trade up in rd 2

I have this suspicion that he can play in this league...

You want a monster run stuffing DT? I got you a monster DT
JP51 replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
Takeo absolutely but also Butkus as welll... I always wore 51... Takeo was one of my faves... I remember being at the Cincy game before FA yelling for him to come here! Great player. -

Well that would immediately move Coleman to the 2nd slowest player in the league... I think LOL -

So like thats exactly where I went ... Cold day in Buffalo... Josh throws pass for TD sneezes snot running all over the place and he cleans it up... do they take the TD back? LOL -
Yes!!! 15 yard personal foul for giving him the business down there... that is exactly the game!
-
Kelly called them out for that after the game cause no one did anything... fast foward to Bills Jets in NYC they did it again to him and the whole team came running off the bench including Bullough.... LOL... maybe there is hope for the Sabres.. uhm... skip that... lol
-
Hell, he may have been 80 lol... or damn close... but the point is that love of a coach is great... but at some point its time... no matter what... for McD.. I dont see that time anywhere soon
-
It may not be a firing... but an agreement... I get Terry loves McD... but no one and i mean no one loved a coach more than Ralph loved Levy... they were legitimately kindred... and Levy "Stepped down".... so yes there is a point that its time... that said... no where soon with McD...

I mean clearly every one is different, I think if you look at Von, it was pretty much 1 year and then the rest of the year was limited and not really productive, The following was average ... OBJ took off 2022 and was really pretty average the following year and really under utilized in Miami the following... I am not saying Diggs follows this path... but I think he probably ends up being no more than average this year and maybe a bit above average next in the best case... So, I think this is a major over pay by the pats...

Something tells me he lasts 6 games there... and gets hurt.
-
I think this is right... about the same in age as well when they were injured... thats a big contact for a guy who wont be 100% in year 1... and well be about 33 when he is full speed... assuming he recovers 100%... lots of ifs here... I suspect its gonna be OBJ type production from him...
-
I am having thoughts of Levion Bell...
-
Free Agent Lull.... are we done minus bit players or more to come?
JP51 replied to JP51's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am torn between needing a dominant player... and needing so many different players... I think even a trade up to 20 is gonna cost big... I think you are right the go bpa at 30 and with their 2 2nd rders -
I honestly never got a great feeling from him about being a Bill... I got the same vibe from Douglas and to an extent Cooper... Maghee was another one...

Agreed. What I said was there was going to be a replacement to fill in the drop off... the question is ... is the drop off in production worth spending an extra 12mm to get it back... as opposed so seeing what a 3mm player (or 4 or whatever) does... there will still be a cost for the body replacing him... I am just theorizing that Cook will cost 12mm more than that person.... the theory is likely that the production wont equate to the dollars and they wont sign him... I am fairly certain Beane is looking at it like this... but we shall see... and I dont see him budging either, he got Dalvin in his head..
