  1. That would blow! 😄
  2. Like most of us, I both want and expect the Bills to go WR in round one, especially if they can get one of the top guys. What if they don’t? What if they go defense? I would expect D-line or Corner in that scenario. However there is my total dark horse pick: Peyton Wilson LB of South Carolina His measurables are insane and it shows up on his tape. Plus if you watch his interviews he seems like a total McDermott kind of guy. Some speculate that he may even be able to play some safety due to his extreme athleticism. I’m not advocating, but if there were a total shocker pick I could see him in a Bills uni. Who do you have? This is your chance to look like a genius! 😅
  3. Thank you very much for sharing all of this. After our Super Bowl run ended, the draft became my favorite football day of the year. I started watching the year that we drafted Jeff Burris of Notre Dame and have been going steady since. A few thoughts on some players: WR’s I would love one of the big three, particularly Harrison or Odunze. I like their size, their productivity, and their character. LEGETTE - I think there’s a lot of variance on where teams have him ranked. It’ll only take one to pull the trigger. He’s kind of a one year wonder thus far but may be on a very good trajectory. I have him ranked a little bit lower, but I’m cheering for him. History is pretty incredible. He’s already overcome a lot to be where he is. I think he’s a bit of a projection regarding his ability down the field. He’s shown flashes, but a team will have to decide if he can develop into someone that can be proficient at all three levels of the defense. WORTHY - while I still have concerns about his size, I’ve come around on him. If we could scheme to keep him off of the line of scrimmage when a team is in press coverage, I think we could work around it. he had a huge number of targets all three years at Texas and has held up. Also, just due to his speed, he would force any defensive backfield to spread out and create space for our other pass catchers. Anytime he runs a go route a defense will have to have someone follow him if not two defenders. If we have a strong run game our play action could be killer with him: 1) if he is open Josh can throw him a bomb, 2) if he pulls two defenders, somebody else should be open, and 3) if they hand the ball off in the back can break into the secondary there should be plenty of running room. Though I still have some concerns, I would actually be very happy if the Bills choose to take him as long as they have a plan to maximize his strengths. I won’t be surprised if the Bills target him. COLEMAN - i’m torn about him. I think he still has a lot of untapped upside and some good things to work with. His play speed is faster than his timed speed and he’s great at catching the ball even while being contacted. If he can continue to work on his speed and learn the intricacies of creating separation I think he could end up being very good, especially in the red zone. I wouldn’t be surprised if he snuck into the end of the first round and is probably going to be gone by the middle of the second.
  4. We can debate the merits of trading up for a top guy, but I prefer to either go up for a top 3 guy or go down. That said, what are the odds that this trend is broken because of the apparent depth in this receiver class? But it’s one hell of a trend…
  5. I’m good at projecting college talent in the pros. I think I’d want to be a head scout and have a big say in who we drafted.
  6. Maybe Josh Allen could get the 25% as part of renegotiated salary and save us a lot of cap space. 🙃
  7. It’s exactly the opposite of what you’re saying: Players have to come out eventually and now will be even more mature and better prepared. Less underclass men and more seniors. All the same players. Am I missing something?
  8. The Buffalo Bill Belichicks… Hmmm….
  9. Definitely. While I understand what the OP is getting at I think you can really only take things by a case by case basis. For example, when Ozzie Newsome was picking for Baltimore no one will convince me that he would have been better off throwing darts at a board of names. The man was a very gifted evaluator of talent. Your point is well taken: the coach wants to run a particular system. That’s going to affect the selections. And then, does the player get to grow in that system or is there a coaching change. This is a massively complex topic.
  10. I haven’t read every post yet, but I’d like to see this broken down by: 1) who made the pick 2) round they mad it in 3 position they picked I think if we are going to pay attention to trends we should see the variance between decision makers first. Polian vs Whaley for example: you wouldn’t just lump them together and draw a meaningful conclusion.
  11. Giving up what they did for Trey Lance was idiotic. Based on his level of competition and minuscule game experience the odds of failure were very high.
  12. Patrick Mahomes! Everywhere I look, I see Patrick Mahomes!
  13. https://heavy.com/sports/buffalo-bills/von-miller-brandon-beane-draft-trade/amp/ Here’s the original with Beane… Some funny siht right here!
  14. I bit my tongue and cried after I said it (not really), but it felt true, and I feel free. Finally. (Kinda really) If a miracle happens it will take me by surprise. Nec spe. Nec metu.
  15. We’re the Bills. We’re never going to win a Super Bowl. Might as well get Marvin Harrison Jr. and enjoy the show… 😛 Overall really good post. That said, I still hope they get Josh a few more weapons wherever they choose to draft them.
  16. That was super sweet! Happy Birthday, Steve!
  17. Sorry if you posted it somewhere, but how do you rank the receivers and who do you see the Bills considering? For me it’s 1a MHJ, 2a Nabers 2b Odunze 4 Thomas Then it gets muddled. I don’t think the Texas guys will be the pick (Mitchell attitude, Worthy limited by size) I think, barring a trade up, the Bills are homing in on: Franklin (workout / visit) McConkey (multiple interviews) Roman Wilson (my gut) My concerns with each are, respectively, lack of play strength, limited production, and limited production. I want to like Franklin, but for some reason feel a bit better about the other two because they are just as fast and seem more versatile. Maybe they are in on Leggette? Whats your take? PS In my dream reality we somehow land MHJ (who I sincerely believe could have a HOF kind of career with the right QB) while somehow still being able to build the team out elsewhere. One can dream…
  18. Noble thoughts and dropped playoff passes…. Alas!
  19. I like the guy. He’s really really REALLY good. Just not great. To me it’s as simple as that. So the question is, can I appreciate the fact that we keep getting to the playoffs without being bitter about not yet reaching a Super Bowl…
  20. It is a risk indeed. I love the draft and have never felt strongly about trading up but for a QB. That said, the path we have been on hasn’t resulted in a SB win. I’ve found myself wishing the Bills would jump up and get one of these top guys. Obviously it would take a lot more than one more player to win a SB, but I guess I’m ready for the team to try something new and drastic and see what happens. PS Praying for MHJ… pipe dream, but damn… what a dream… ALLEN TO HARRISON FOR THE TOUCHDOWN!!
  21. Here’s the owner… make it happen, Logic!
  22. As I’ve just got done stating in a couple of other wide receiver threads, I would consider it for Marvin Harrison Junior. Obviously, you’d have to draw the line somewhere. But I think he’s that good. if he’s on the board at six, I admit, I’ll be secretly hoping they say the Bills have just made a trade with the Giants.
  23. I realize there is a great (and possibly prohibitive) trade off here. I agree, there is no WR currently in the league that I would give up 2 first round picks for, but mainly because of their contracts already being so big. I’d give up 2 firsts for Justin Jefferson if he was on a 5 year rookie contract. With the cap savings I’d hire vets instead of the rookies I’d be missing out on. Beyond that, the lynchpin of my argument is that I am convinced MHJ is a SURE THING. I’d take one superstar sure thing (yes, I’m out on that limb) over 2 or 3 50/50’s. I can understand the other side of the argument, I just firmly feel that he is that good and you can figure out the rest.
  24. putting this here from another thread: I’m a big Ohio State fan. When we were recruiting MHJ I said to myself, “I don’t care what the rankings say. THIS is the #1 receiver in the class.” Size, athleticism, production, work ethic, hall of fame father… He became all I thought he would and more. He has all the tools, does EVERYTHING right, and works tirelessly to get better. He is money in the bank. I don’t know if giving up what it would take works for the Bills, but if you want to have one of the top 3 receivers in the NFL on the roster for Josh to throw to… he’s sitting right there. I would do everything I could do to trade up and get MHJ. 2 1st rounders? Sure. Beane has such a mixed history of picking in round one. The onlyvery good picks he has made, IMHO, is Allen and Kincaid. He had to pass on Mahomes to get Tre White. So yes, give up firsts and go get a super star. (I stand corrected: Beane was hired AFTER Mahomes was drafted)
  25. I’m not sure if it is a good idea to sell the farm for MHJ or not, but I will say, if there is one guy in this draft worth doing it for is him. I’m a big Ohio State fan. When we were recruiting MHJ I said to myself, “I don’t care what the rankings say. THIS is the #1 receiver in the class.” Size, athleticism, production, work ethic, hall of fame father… He became all I thought he would and more. I don’t know if giving up what it would take works for the Bills, but if you want to have one of the top 3 receivers in the NFL on the roster for Josh to throw to… he’s sitting right there. Edit: Actually… yes, I would do everything I could do to trade up and get MHJ. 2 1st rounders? Sure. Beane has such a mixed history of picking in round one. The only very good picks he has made, IMHO, is Allen and Kincaid. He had to pass on Mahomes to get Tre White. So yes, give up firsts and go get a super star.
