Geez… it didn’t even enhance his performance that much… On a serious note, I feel for these guys. Yes they make a lot of money, but you wreck your body year after year and keep trying to bounce back as the body ages. I imagine a certain level of desperation sets in and you look for any solution whatsoever. Classic rock and a hard place…

Its Pretty Obvious why the Chiefs win every year
NORWOODS FOOT replied to gonzo1105's topic in The Stadium Wall
I remember thinking “Please don’t take Elam. Woolen is a better prospect.” I didn’t like Elam as a prospect that year. Ouch -
I hope not. I want him giving his all on the field. Talk about an energy drain… 😍

I work in a hospital with people in similar situations. I know life will never be the same. My thoughts are with you. One thing has gotten me through great tragedy after the initial period of grief. It’s this maxim: ”Love from as deep a place as this pain has touched.” Tragedy cuts us to depths we didn’t even know we had. The only thing that can bring light out of that new dark place is to push the seeds of love down to those depths. Thats the best I have to give you brother.

Right. I don’t hate McDermott. On the one hand, he’s a very fine coach and we are lucky to have him. But he just isn’t good enough. That’s no a criticism of him, per se, it’s just putting him in the context of his most talented peers. As a Bills fan I’m desperate for a SB win. And because of that, though I respect McD, I don’t care about his feelings and I’m ready to see something different while Josh is still in his prime.

Winning in the NFL - assuming the leaders even know what they are doing - is a game of inches on and off the field. Terry Pegula pointing to Mahomes but not insisting on the pick… Playing soft D and making 13 seconds enough… A failed fake punt, a dropped pass, a missed kick… Right now Reid and Spagnola do everything in the center right AND win on the margins. It’s like playing my wife in cards: I always play her close, but somehow she plays her hands better when it counts and comes out on top. Beane and McDermott are damn good, just not the best. And unfortunately we are seeing a Brady/Belichick level duo each year in the playoffs. I’m grateful for the run we are on, but they have better juice. Against Reid/Mahomes - in the context of going against the greats - McDermott is lacking and that’s a problem. But realistically, what are we to do? I’m tempted to give Belichick a go, but that could be a disaster as well… Its hard to have faith in a loving God if you’re a Bills fan! 😂

What about Mac’s daddy? He’d have to approve, right?
-
Only if it’s attached to his mother, and even then…

It was… but that damn word “almost”! If we are gonna roll with McD then I hope to hell we get some playmakers for Josh and stay healthy next year.

I would love to agree, but their offensive yards per play has been tending in the wrong direction for our defense for the last three playoff games against them. Obviously being full strength would be better, but I’m finally starting to not be able to deny the pure differential in coaching talent.
-
Yeah, we turn it up in the playoffs too. They just turn it up a little higher.

My thoughts exactly. Top three guys gone. Take any of the four mentioned - Thomas, Franklin, Mitchell, or Leggett - in whatever order the team prefers.

What will you do when the Bills win the Super Bowl?
NORWOODS FOOT replied to WotAGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall
Said it well. Enjoy being free of the burden of longing that got hardwired into my head during our Super Bowl years. I think I'll be relieved as I am happy... But boy would I be happy -
This is what I would like the Pegulas to consider. The problem is, would Belichick actually give up control over this aspect of his team? Even if he claimed he would? If Belichick would actually cede control of running the draft to a talented GM, and dedicate himself to tailoring plans to the talent given him, THEN I would be interested in having the conversation. And wouldn’t it be amazing if the man responsible for us losing our first Super Bowl was the one to get us our first win? That would go down in NFL lore.

Haven’t written on the site in some time, but here I go… again… (Imagine I just said a bunch of nice things about Sean McD… okay) I hope Beane is distancing himself from McD because there is going to be a change of head coach. Do I expect this to happen? No. And that’s what sucks as a fan right now. If feels painfully obvious to me that McD has peaked. His limitations as a coach fall below the heights of winning a Super Bowl. Beane is also to blame to a degree in not surrounding a franchise QB with weapons to match his skills. Allen himself had to apparently text the brain trust “Kincaid” on draft night last year. This shouldn’t be. Josh Allen shouldn’t have to tell an NFL GM and coach to give him talented weapons. We may luck into a championship someday, but as a fan I’m getting desperate for a coach with enough of a brain and a killer instinct to maximize Allen’s talent and bring us a MF Super Bowl. Time is running out and fake punts aren’t the answer.

It's also a straw man, but I bet you don't care.

Bengals will be the team to beat for years to come
NORWOODS FOOT replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, the gap was painfully obvious yesterday. That and Joe B is looking like the next you-know-who quarterback. His combo of talent, smarts, and killer instinct is (in my humble opinion) the best in the NFL. Others are better than him in some facets of the game, but to me he has the best overall package. And I know that's saying a lot (Mahomes, Allen, I know....) And no, this is not recency bias. I'm a long time Ohio State fan and have watched him since HS. Teammates (OSU RB Mike Weber, specifically) predicted this. Add to Burrow's profile the fact that the Bengals (!) have put the seemingly perfect staff and players around him... Going to be VERY hard to beat him going forward. -
What if the Bills were sold and long gone…..
NORWOODS FOOT replied to US Egg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Even more solo internet romance? Not that there's anything wrong with that! Lol -
Yes, if part of the dome would have collapsed and landed on Joe Burrow and a few O linemen... Then MAYBE this team could have beat the Bengals today.
-
Yeah. The writing is on the wall. This team is second tier and no resources to build. Breaks my heart but is what it is. I'm afraid a teardown is the only thing that's gonna give Josh a consistent chance to WIN a Superbowl. We were chasing the Chiefs and the Bengals built a monster that's better than both of us. I've never said this before, but if there is a head coaching candidate out there that can truly give us a chance, yes, tear it down. I'd love to be wrong...
