  1. The following current Bills Assistant Coaches are former NFL Offensive Coordinators: Rob Boras Tight Ends Rams Joe Brady Quarterbacks Panthers Aaron Kromer Offensive Line Bears Mike Shula Senior Offensive Assistant Bucanneers/Panthers/Giants In addition, the Bills Offensive Quality Controls Coach is Kyle Shurmer who holds 6 Vanderbilt University passing records and spent 3 years in the NFL as a backup QB. He has been in coaching for 3 years. Shurmur's father is longtime NFL Coach Pat Shurmur (Head Coach of the Browns and Giants) and his Uncle is Fritz Shurmur the longtime NFL Defensive Coordinator. Probably the Bills have more offensive expertise on their coaching staff than most if not all the other NFL teams.
  2. To add to the discussion, Von previously tore his ACL on December 22, 2013. Ten months later in October 2014 he won AFC Defensive Player of the Month for getting 14 sacks in 4 games.
  3. I always felt it was more McDermott respecting Frasier's autonomy than Frasier running the defense that McDermott wanted. I believe McDermott wants to allow his coaches to coach... sometimes to his own detriment. And you were expecting??? Even outside of sports, workplaces take on the personality of their leader. I don't think there's any question that McDermott's intensity is making a big difference. In addition the defensive players are now being directly supervised by the head guy. That makes a difference too. To spare Frasier's pride and dignity the Bills concocted this exit strategy and the media played along. No one was fooled by the leave of absence story however there was nothing to be gained by refuting it.

  5. Mark Sanchez also... he was 5th overall in 2009.
  6. Myles Garrett is a wrecking ball... as good of a pass rusher as there is in the league today. And he did that on several occasions... I bet his O-linemen loved getting charged for a sack when he could have easily flipped the ball out of bounds for an incompletion... but that would have hurt his stats.
  7. Matt Ryan's breakdown of White's INT was good. Credit goes to White also... while he did not flip his hips he bellied away from the route long enough to bait Howell into the throw. He gave away room and then closed quickly. McDermott was saying last week that Tre is getting really close to being back to his All-Pro self. We'll need it against Miami this weekend.
  8. Thanks for posting. I'll condense it in a table below. The counter-argument is that the so-called "Bend but don't Break" Defenses are based on making the offense run many plays to drive the field and score. The idea is that most offenses can't do so for various external or internal reasons. Most experts agree that chunk yardage is a necessary component of an efficient offense. So it's not either/or... it's a healthy balance. You guys make the point that some are missing. Thank you. Here's a condensed list: % of Offensive Snaps in Shotgun Formation Las Vegas (lowest in NFL) 52.44 Detroit 52.50 Dallas 55.86 San Francisco 60.38 League Average 67.49 Green Bay 68.53 Buffalo 73.85 Cincinnati 77.34 Kansas City 78.86 Philadelphia (highest in NFL) 88.73
  9. I saw Brees play live when he was a Charger. What a great quarterback. Coincidentally they expose your track record of bad takes. I wouldn't want them resurrected either if I were you.
  10. Exactly. McDermott often speaks of "complementary football." The offensive strategy might have more to do with time of possession than simply scoring. Who do you want Rapp to play in place of? As far as the matchup, if one believes (as McDermott does) that games are won and lost in the trenches, then the Bills should win.
  11. A fart caused by us squishing them. It makes you wonder about Sean Payton's standing with the players. Russell Wilson is everyone's whipping boy but the way Payton has chosen to publicly emasculate him might not have been received well by the team. Also in his short time in Denver Payton has negatively implicated anyone who was on the team last year.
  12. Don't forget Taylor Swift will be there!
  13. True but you can count on 3 fingers the number of NFL QBs that don't panic under pressure. Yes but it only matters how many people are viewing the game.
  14. There seems to be something about Mac Jones that makes people of widely-varying backgrounds all hate his guts.
  15. I think Washington has a good defense built upon an elite defensive line. I also believe that Bienemy will make the offense respectable. I also think many people here are underestimating how well the Bills played today. The spread was 6.5 points. The season will prove if Washington is any good.
  16. Najee Harris is extremely underwhelming, especially considering the Steelers drafted him 24th overall. Kenny Pickett reminds me of a less athletic Mac Jones.
  17. I don't expect Gabriel Davis will be on the team next year and I don't think he'll be too hard to replace either. I like the guy but some other team is gonna pay him more than our number. JMO.
  18. Coming into the game Washington led the NFL in sacks with 10. Today they had zero. I believe the season will show that Washington is a pretty solid football team. This was a good win... business-like and lacking in drama.
  19. Thus Haloti Ngata and Kelly Gregg.
  20. You're right. Corrected: The Stadium Wall Whipping Boys: James Cook Terrell Bernard Dion Dawkins Gabriel Davis Kaiir Elam Spencer Brown
  21. The Stadium Wall Whipping Boys: James Cook Terrell Bernard Dion Dawkins Kaiir Elam Spencer Brown
  22. Tua is 16-16 for 206 yards and 2 TDs. Without Jaylen Waddle.
  23. This is NOT starting a new topic during the game. It's an OLD TOPIC.
  24. Two thoughts on this: 1) This was expected. Zero injuries coming off a big win... zero reason to change what's been in place since the season's start. 2) There is widespread belief that Elam will make his debut against the Dolphins next week due to their quick passing offense and the belief that press man coverage will be utilized by the Bills.
