  1. IMO, players playing a long time with one team was more a product of the restrictiveness of the CBA than it was loyalty. Players had zero leverage as far as mobility was concerned. There were plenty of players who didn't like the team they were with. At least several of the early games will be competitive. The late afternoon games are awful for sure: Early: Indianapolis Colts at Baltimore Ravens Tennessee Titans at Cleveland Browns Atlanta Falcons at Detroit Lions New Orleans Saints at Green Bay Packers Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars Denver Broncos at Miami Dolphins Los Angeles Chargers at Minnesota Vikings New England Patriots at New York Jets Buffalo Bills at Washington Commanders Late Carolina Panthers at Seattle Seahawks Dallas Cowboys at Arizona Cardinals Chicago Bears at Kansas City Chiefs SNF Pittsburgh Steelers at Las Vegas Raiders MNF Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Los Angeles Rams at Cincinnati Bengals
  2. I experienced similar confusion added to by "Cook" being capitalized. We've already established that he can't break arm tackles... what more is there to talk about?
  3. I let "it" autosize the cells... I didn't attempt to control their sizes but it proportioned pretty well by itself.
  4. This offense has a lot of new and young parts... 2 new guards, 2 new running backs, 2 new wide receivers, and a new tight end... all of whom excepting the wideouts Harty and Sherfield, figure to get very high snap counts. This is on top of the fact that Cook and Shakir are only entering their second seasons. With the continuing contraction of the preseason and the snap limiting for injury avoidance, it's fair to expect that the offense will gell and improve markedly over the course of the regular season.
  5. It'll be interesting to see if Harris or Murray has more TDs by season's end.
  6. I agree with NoSaint. Kaiir has good size but he's not what I'd call physical and he wasn't a particularly good tackler in college. I don't think he profiles as a slot corner, especially in our system.
  7. Great stuff... thanks for posting. How are you able to post pics like this? Every time I try to the site tells me that the images are too large. Thanks.
  8. Exactly. It's a matter of degree.
  9. I'm not trying to be an #######... this is an honest question. Do you think Mahomes or Allen could win a Super Bowl in a season in which their running backs never carry the ball?
  10. As an avid reader of ProFootballTalk (SILENCE!), I ran across this blog post: https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/nick-sirianni-on-qb-push-play-there-is-not-a-rule-against-it-so-thats-what-we-do “Not everyone has [center] Jason Kelce, [guard] Landon Dickerson, [offensive lineman] Cam Jurgens,” Sirianni said. “Not everybody has [tackle] Jordan Mailata. Not everybody has [tackle] Lane Johnson on the other side. Not everybody has that type of quarterback. “We noticed that last year when people were making maybe some big deals about it. There are a lot that are unsuccessful. You guys know who the teams were that were, and I don’t know exactly the teams that were successful and the teams that weren’t successful. “But there is clearly a talent to it that our guys have, because it’s not as -- maybe it’s automatic right now for the Philadelphia Eagles, but it’s not automatic around the NFL . . . You hear it and you’re like, well, I get that some people are complaining about it, but stop it. Stop the play. It’s not as automatic as people think as we’re seeing across the NFL. . . ." The Bills have used a slightly watered-down version of this play, with one pusher instead of two. Obviously Josh is a big, strong, QB and with our upgraded guards this might become more a part of the Bills MO.
  11. To the bolded... good question. I'm not opinionating on this video but here's every touch in last week's game against the Texans:
  12. 7 pages of discussing playoff failures, 13 seconds, this coach isn't good enough... I can't (won't) change my mind until we win a championship... Rather than damn the future based on the past, how about looking at possible reasons why the Bills will break through rather than simply disqualifying the possibility. For instance, not a single person in 7 pages has mentioned the dismissal (believe what you want) of Leslie Frasier. If you believe that McDermottisms such as "Trust the process," "The Daily Habit of Excellence" etc are just empty words that's fine. But he's assumed the challenge of erasing past defensive failures by taking sole responsibility of the defense. Is this "same ole same ole?" And by the same token, why would people assume that someone like Ken Dorsey who is enormously accomplished in football, would be unable to grow, learn, develop, and improve? In addition to the above, I believe the Tops shooting on the East Side also profoundly affected the Bills organization. Most of these guys are black. I'm guessing most of us aren't.
  13. Too much. 5 years $230 million fully guaranteed It's amazing. He just turned 28 years old.
  14. https://www.overtimeheroics.net/2023/09/23/the-chargers-are-a-cursed-a-disgusting-franchise-nfl-analyst-marvels-at-los-angeles-franchises-remarkable-misfortune-as-injuries-threaten-to-derail-season/#:~:text=They also discussed the Chargers' game plan and upcoming performance predictions.&text=During the talk show%2C Benjamin, man should put his heart.
  15. You riff off on some crazy-ass stream-of-consciousness stuff... seems very un-Air Force-like. Also let me know if you need to buy some punctuation marks... I can get you a really good price! 🙃 This is just like high school... never got an invitation. Looks like reading comprehension isn't your only deficiency... just piling on in good fun... awesome you being such a good sport. Were you a philosophy major?
  16. Exactly. The Bills retirements seems disproportionate because we follow the Bills closely. Lots of veterans see/feel the writing on the wall during this time of the NFL calendar.
  17. Thanks for posting this. I think the current perception of the Bills O-line will be quite different by the end of the season. Also, Fitz went to Harvard and Ralph is cheap The factors that conspire to make Elam inactive: Lack of boundary CB/slot CB/Safety position flexibility Does not play on special teams Excellence of Benford's play Solidness of Dane Jackson's play I don't think for a second that the Bills have given up on Elam but I do believe they don't want to dress a 4th cornerback who doesn't play safety, nickel or special teams. It's certainly less than ideal that a first rounder is inactive. On the other hand it's great to have excellent depth at a premier position. It's a long season.
  18. I wonder how much of that is scheme compatibility.
  19. Yes, take the layups and I think we all agree it's about risk/reward, a combination of a snap judgement and situational awareness. Interestingly the TDs last week to Gabriel Davis and Kahlil Shakir could both be viewed as risky. Yes the reward was a touchdown but the risk was a red zone INT or fumble by Josh (on Shakir's). A red zone turnover is often demoralizing and momentum-changing and minimally deprives the team of a field goal attempt so it's definitely arguable there was a lot of risk on those throws. Ultimately the outcomes were good but they could just as well have been bad. When you compare the TD risk from week two to the 3 INTs from week one it's not clear if the risk/reward was better or worse. The justification for at least one of the week one INTs was that "it was as good as a punt." I think what made week 1's INTs worse was that he threw into coverage with very low hopes for a good outcome... showed poor judgement. On the related subject of Josh in the red zone, I believe he sees the end zone better than any other QB in the league. Remember he didn't throw his first red zone INT until his 55th career game. That's a remarkable fact. To my assertion, is this a risky throw or not?
  20. I get your point and don't totally disagree though I'm not sure the Pats are 2-0 with Herbert... maybe 1-1? Anyways I've been very impressed with Tua lately. He processes play very quickly and his ball placement is excellent. He's definitely underwhelming physically but I think he understands the game in a way that most NFL QBs don't.
  21. Thank you. And let's stay away from the personal attacks too.
  22. Herbert having Tua's weapons and coaching is a scary thought indeed.
  23. Thank you for posting that link. The All-22 breakdown of Josh by Warner is outstanding. I could watch it repeatedly. This is Josh Allen at his best. Josh and Mahomes are doing things that have never consistently been done before.
  24. This is almost deserving of its own thread... or the resurrection of an earlier Dorsey thread. Bottom line, many people make judgements and then have difficulty changing their minds. It's often the case that accomplished professionals change and grow but the perception of them doesn't.
