  1. I don't think any of the Bills will say anything publicly about this, but I wouldn't be surprised if talking among themselves someone might be saying, "We're better than what they're giving us credit for. Let's show the world we deserve some recognition."
  2. I don't think a big leg is going to carry as much of a premium in the NFL with the change in kick returns. Piniero has a career long FG of 56 yards. He may not be booming them from 60 yards, but that's probably OK.
  3. I'm fine with Franklin on the PS. I don't know much about him, but his special teams value and run defense seem to be worthy of a PS designation.
  4. The only player I don't know at all is Sam Franklin. Anybody know anything about him? He has good size average speed as per NFLDraft Scout. https://draftscout.com/dsprofile.php?PlayerId=1028304&DraftYear=2020 I did see he spent 5 seasons in Carolina and a season in Denver, so he's got some experience. What does he look like on the field?
  5. Huh! And I thought this thread was going to be about 5'8" 220 lb running back, Ray Davis.
  6. Player coach? If he's on the PS, he's probably not going to be on the field very often. But he'll be in the safety room in meetings and film watching and will be able to point things out to the younger players. A youngster like Jordan Hancock could really benefit from the opportunity to interact with a veteran like Poyer.
  7. Hairston might have been healthy enough to play shortly after week one. This takes the pressure off though. I don't know that Tre White's timeline back to health is any shorter, but as a veteran, the Bills probably figure that as soon as he's healthy, he can probably play, whereas Hairston, being a rookie would benefit from having some practice time before he steps on the field on a game.
  8. Buffalo needs a cornerback on the roster that Keon Coleman can beat in a race?
  9. Yes, I think practice squads are allowed 16 members. Teams with an International Pathways Program player can keep that player on the PS and not have it count toward their 16 player practice squad limit.
  10. The TV announcers clearly stated that while Robbins did not punt because of illness, he did come in to serve as holder for the field goal attempts. Another poster also reported this. Pay attention folks.
  11. This is a pretty accurate statement. Walker has bigger splash plays paired with more costly poor plays. Sanders is more consistent. The question on Walker is, can he be coached up to play more consistently while retaining the capacity to make bigger plays during the course of the game?
  12. He has been cut by the Eagles. Yes, Buffalo tried him at safety. They still might look at him at both positions. He's had another year to work on his shortcomings. I would think the Bills would at least be curious. You can't teach that kind of athleticism. Oops, just saw the posts on his injury situation. Still, the price isn't that high if they want to sign him and then put him on IR after the initial 53 man roster is established
  13. Do you recall Tom Brady's 40 time? To refresh your memory, it was 5.28. H e was actually faster when he was 46 years old - 5.18. There's hope for me yet. I might still do the 40 in 20 seconds before I die.
  14. Which young and promising player will need to be cut to make room for him?
  15. The cushion, whether ordered by coaches or chosen by players themselves, may be to compensate for lack of athleticism.
  16. Davidson did make a strong case for being named to the PS though. He and Latu are pretty similar as pass catchers, but having an emergency punter available on the PS is kind of a unique bonus for a team.
  17. If the decision to name Josh Allen's backup were to be based on play in the preseason games, Shane Buechele wins the competition hands down. It looked as if Brady was given the freedom to be a bit less vanilla this week than in the first two games.
  18. I think McDermott would like his safeties to be a bit better at man coverage. He's good in zone. Of course, Hamlin can't cover either.
  19. And Buffalo has closed that door nicely.
  20. I'm not as concerned about Bass as some. I think his tendency tonight to slice his kicks a bit might be attributed to some rust. He's had to rest a number of days and I don't know how many days he's been able to kick in practice. He's got a couple seeks to adjust.
  21. He'll make the team. I don't think there would be nearly as much interest in him if he had a different name, but he's a scrappy player. As you say, he usually makes positive yardage and avoids negative plays.
  22. We can pretty much rule out a torn Achilles or ACL. That probably means a sprain of some kind, ankle or knee, which could mean anywhere from a couple weeks to 6 weeks to get healthy. At the upper end of that range, we'd be looking at IR, returning to the active roster after 4 weeks or so. It's not the end of the world, but could leave the defense scrambling to try and contain Baltimore's passing game. Coincidentally, Baltimore also looks to be missing a starting CB in the season opener.
  23. The Bills have signed Garnet Hollis, a UDFA from West Virginia. He has good size (6' and 200+ lbs), not a burner, but not the slowest CN on the roster - running the 40 in about 4.5. Said to be very physical, but will struggle versus some small, quick WRs. Hint - you don't want him covering Tyreek Hill one on one.
  24. I was 10 years old the only time I shot or even held a real gun. My dad, who was not a sportsman, took my brother and I out woodchuck hunting. We didn't see any woodchucks, so my dad let each of us try and hit an anthill. I missed. The gun my dad used was a rifle he had lifted from a dead German soldier during WW2. No, my dad didn't shoot him. He was not a combat soldier. He was in an engineering division.
