  1. I'm hearing that this draft has only a handful of blue chip round one prospects. I'm inclined to believe that given the fact that there seems to be no consensus on how to value a number of players. Case in point: I've seen Tyliek Williams being mocked in the first half of round one and dropping out of round one altogether. It is the same for a number of other players. I've not seen Ezeiruaka mocked in the first round anywhere else. I know Buffalo traded out of round one last year. They might have to trade up a long way to get a really elite player, like twenty spots. That would be very costly in terms of draft capital. Beane will have to be really convinced about a prospect's ability to become a difference maker for the Bills considering the needs that Buffalo has on defense and at WR. I think like last year the odds are greater for the Bills to trade down if they can find a deal they like. Bean might find it tempting to trade #30 for something in the 5 to 10 range in round two and a pick in round 3.
  2. Wow. I'll be 74 in a little more than a year. I sure hope that I can make it past my 74th year.
  3. Can't say it's a surprise. Just too many mistakes on special teams this past season.
  4. My sister-in-law and family live in Denver, NC, just a bit north of Charlotte.
  5. I'm still ticked off at the league for scheduling the Bills as the "home team" in London versus the "visiting" Jacksonville Jaguars, who are far more experienced playing games in London AND had played the week before in London, giving them an extra week to get acclimated.
  6. It depends on whether his goal was to be on an NFL roster and making a nice salary, or playing a meaningful number of snaps in an NFL regular season and making a difference to a team. You are right. He has been on the Bills' roster for years, though some of those years he lost completely to injury, spending them on IR. It's also true that hundreds of players come and go in the NFL leaving with fewer years than Doyle. I still think he leaves wishing his career had been a little more.
  7. At the very least, it is an interesting proposal.
  8. The NFL creates heroes and crushes dreams. Tommy Doyle is one of the unlucky ones. Hopefully, he has his degree and was able to save some money. Whatever he does next I hope his luck is better.
  9. I want a physical freak who is about 6'4" and 230 lbs and runs the 40 at 4.3 or better with a 40+ inch vertical. He also never drops the ball and is an elite route runner. It would be good if he could fly, but that might be asking a bit much.
  10. I don't tend to dwell in the past. My philosophy is, "Learn the lessons of the past and then figure out what you can do to make the future better."
  11. Yeah, my question is would he be a liability in zone coverage? McDermott is willing to use man coverage from time, but his bread and butter is zone coverage, and he's not going to give it up.
  12. Philadelphia is not chopped liver. Neither Buffalo or KC are slam dunk winners in a game against Philadelphia. And Washington did beat Detroit, so they are capable of rising to the occasion. So, I think that Super Bowl LIX is still a big deal.
  13. I think it is smart of him. Besides his time with the Bills, he's had some experience as an NFL offensive coordinator, but not a lot. I think he would be much better prepared to take a head coaching position in a year or two.
  14. A win tomorrow would be a pretty dramatic sign.
  15. I think it was a strategy Brady cooked up specifically for the Baltimore game based on what the Bills experienced during the regular season game versus the Ravens plus the weather conditions. I don't expect the Bills to go crazy on offense versus the Chiefs. I do expect more in the way of balance. I think Josh will get the ball to some receivers who haven't seen much action lately.
  16. Obviously, statistics provide a strong argument that Shakir is the Bills #1 receiver. Josh Allen clearly has a comfort level with him and he gets open, not to mention his yards after the catch prowess. However, Josh is not so married to Shakir that he won't feed another receiver a bunch of targets if that player is getting open. The fact that Josh Allen trusts Coleman, Cooper, Hollins and Samuel to make plays will limit the ability of opposing defensive coordinators to affect the Bills' offense by taking away the #1 receiver.
  17. I don't think the Jets' ownership is terribly patient. The team is a mess right now. Presumably, Aaron Rodgers is gone. He was never the answer anyway. It's not a great draft for QBs this year and the Jets are not in a position to get one of the top two QBs. The free agents aren't going to be much better. The defensive personnel are good, but they are not enough to help the Jets escape the pit of mediocrity. My guess is that Glenn will get a couple years (despite a 5 year contract, during which the Jets will struggle to win 8 or 9 games. The owner will get impatient and Glenn will be gone. It will go that way until somehow the Jets can find a long term answer at QB. I love it.
  18. If they were full time, I would expect the league would have them work at all the training camps from day one and in mini camps and OTAs Individual teams arrange for officials to be present in some of those situations, but if it were available all the time, it would help the players be more cognizant of playing clean. I don't think it would be unreasonable for officials to spend a month out of the year training for their job. Some of that time could be spent reviewing officiating from the previous season. I'm sure teams would be happy to prepare a video summary of that they felt to be controversial or just plain bad calls that happen, if it would help improve the officiating.
  19. That's worrisome. You have to wonder if at some time in a critical game at a critical moment in a game it's going to get called in a way that costs the Bills big time.
  20. It is interesting. I saw one opinion that said Lamar made a great throw because it was in a place where, if had Andrews caught it, the ball placement would have helped him stay in bounds. Not necessarily my opinion, just something I read.
  21. John Harbaugh is a really good coach. What I wonder though is why coaches wait until halftime make adjustments if what they're doing isn't working. Certainly, if Harbaugh had inserted a "heavy" lineup early in the second quarter, it might have made a difference in what Derrick Henry was able to do. On any case, I'm glad they didn't and the game worked out the way it did.
  22. I think the Bills will be OK. The players will find a way to get to OBD. I expect Wednesday's practice will be indoors. I don't expect any problems on Thursday or Friday regardless of whether practices are indoors or outdoors.
  23. I don't know that the PI call was that much more significant. Yes, it brought the Bills pretty close to the end zone, but the phantom holding call was a drive killer. Who's to say Buffalo couldn't have scored a touchdown.
  24. If Philadelphia wins the NFC championship, that would not be a good matchup for the Bills either, but Buffalo has shown now that they can win games where they don't matchup great.
  25. People asked how KC could keep winning this season, but they did. Baltimore is a tough physical team. Overall, they are probably more athletic than the Bills. I don't think there is any embarrassment at the fact Buffalo needed to force turnovers to win the game. Buffalo hasn't needed turnovers to that degree in every game. I think they matchup better versus the Chiefs than they did to the Ravens. I'd love to have half a dozen KC turnovers in the game next weekend, but I don't know that they would be essential.
