  1. I'm finding it a little amusing how many posters are talking about McBeane's D obsession, when considering that the Bills brain trust has given Josh a ton of skill help early in the last 3 drafts. Each time is was a position that Beane had never targeted early in the draft in his tenure. 2022 - They drafted Cook in the 2nd rd (pick 63). Cook was known as a good receiver out of the backfield and caught 80% of his targets last year. Prior to Cook, the highest Beane drafted a RB was 3rd rd picks Singletary and Moss. He also added Shakir in the 5th and that seems to be working out ok so far. 2023 - Beane drafted Kincaid (TE) at 25 and then added a starting OG in Torrence in the 2nd (pick 59). Prior to 2023 the highest TE was Knox (3rd rd pick 96th). 2024 - This year Beane takes a WR Coleman with the Bills first pick at 33. Davis was the highest drafted Bill WR under Beane prior and was a 4th rd selection. Of his premium picks (rounds 1-3), Beane has favored D slightly (11 to 9), but overall he has made 23 O picks to 22 D picks with 2 specialists. Sorry, but I'm not seeing much bias here, but I am seeing a change to finally getting some talented skill help for Josh.
  2. Beane has been very forthright about the Bills draft this year. He said there were only 25 or so players with first rd grades and when one wasn’t there at 28 he traded down. He said he was going to add DT help and did. Safety was also an obvious need with only 3 on the roster and both projected starters were backups last season. Beane filled this obvious need with a very talented player who he probably had inside scoop on because of his Utes teammate Kincaid. However Beane also said, if my memory serves, that the Bills passing game needed more explosive plays and someone who could stretch the field. Instead he drafts a player who ran 4.61 at the combine. This is where the disappointment comes in. Beane set the expectations and then to all appearances didn’t deliver. I’m not a fan of the Coleman pick. However, I do trust Beane and there is reason to hope. First, Beane said we need to be better at contested catches and Coleman does that well. We also need bigger targets who make plays in the red zone and Coleman does that as well. @Big Turk also pointed out Coleman 20 mph in game speed. This is Nacua type in game speed and we know how that turned out.
  3. I am not a fan of the Coleman pick. The WR draftee was, I thought, intended to be about explosive plays and stretching the field. Coleman doesn’t do either of those things. That said, thanks Turk for the in game speed info. This stat is what separated Nacua last year in the NFL and maybe that’s where the explosive plays will come from. I also like the fact he does catch TDs. The speed stats makes me feel better about the pick, but I still worry, as Gunner, does about the lack of separation in his route running. I’m hopeful for a 2nd WR in the 5th rd today. Tez Walker has decent size and good speed. I would mind the Bills taking a flyer on him.
  4. I understand this take, but I’m going to respectfully disagree. The Bills are starting Rapp and Edwards at S right now. Both were backups last season. In addition Hamlin is the only other S on the roster. These facts make safety a more pressing need. There is also a reasonable chance that Bishop might beat out one of them for a starting job. Brown is a starter and they seem to like Van Denmark as his backup. In addition Chris Jones is still available in this draft.
  5. Serious question; wasn't the biggest issues with our passing game the lack of explosive plays and receivers who could stretch the field? How exactly does Coleman solve either of those issues? At least he does catch TDs.
  6. ESPN's best available. https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft/bestavailable Top Corners- TJ Tampa - 46th overall - they compare him to Kaiir Elam (nooooooooooo!); Cam Hart (82nd), Draine (92nd), K Jackson (102nd) Top WRs - Franklin (73rd), Rice (81st), Baker (87th) & Walker (91st), Washington (99), J Wilson (100), Means (134) Top Edge - Booker (83rd), Brennan Jackson (115th), Ced Johnson (120), Kamara (126), Hall (135) Top C - Van Pran (105th), Bortolini (117th), Nourzad (130) Top RBs - Wright (97th), Davis (129), Allen (142), Guerendo (146) Top OT - Chris Jones (84th), Foster (107), Top DT - Dorius (79th) - kind of a combo DT/Edge, Wingo (88) Top S - Hicks (59th), Demerson (119th)
  7. So I was supposed to join the board in 1969 when I was 3? I mean seriously, what does when I joined the board have anything to do when I became a Bills fan?
  8. My first game was OJ's first game at the rock pile.
  9. Different era of football, but if Coleman gives us 55 catches for 829 yards and 5 TDs next season like TO did in his one year in Buffalo, I think we'd all be thrilled.
  10. The Bills have had success in day 3 under Beane. Benford, Shakir, Davis, Teller (oops!), T Johnson, Dane Jackson, Neal, Hamlin, Bass & Spector are all 3rd day selection. McD helped grab Milano as well in the 5th. Milano, Shakir, Johnson and Benford are all critical pieces for the Bills next season.
  11. Wow. I guess that means we don’t need a message board anymore.
  12. A couple of trade ideas 1) 144 & 163 to Chicago for 122 (and maybe a late asset in 2025) 2) 128, 141 & 204 to Min for 108 & 177 This would leave us with 108, 122, 160, 177, & 221
  13. Potential trade partners tomorrow (actually later today) Car - owns pick 101, but no picks again until 157 and then 200 Chi - owns 122 and nothing else NYG - owns 107 and then nothing until 166 & 183 Sea - Owns 102 & 118, and then nothing until 179 TB - Owns 125 and then nothing until 220
  14. So how about that DeWayne Carter. I hear he is pretty good. I like this pick. I’ve seen him ranked as high as 79th.
  15. Why the stated needs CB - a possible replacement for Douglas OT - possible replacement for Brown Edge - possible replacement for Von Miller RB - backup and change of pace for Cook C - insurance if McGovern does work out at C or Edwards isn’t good enough to start at guard WR - I have no faith in our depth after Shakir and Samuel. I also hate the Coleman pick. Possible surprise need - TE - Knox could be gone after this season and I’m not impressed with Morris.
  16. I’m honestly shocked Van Pran and Walker are still on the board. I’m also surprised OT Christian Jones is still available.
  17. Kind of sad Beane didn’t find a way back into the 3rd. Hopefully he can maneuver up to the top of the 4th. Still need a potential Miller replacement.
  18. There are a couple of guys I’ve been looking at that I think can help our team that are still on the board C - Sedric Van Pran (Yes, I’m a UGA fan, but he is a very good center) WR - Tez Walker - Decent size and excellent speed. RB - Isaac Guerendo - 6’ 220 and ran a 4.33 40 at the combine. 99 athleticism score at the combine.
  19. 7 more picks to go. 1 - 4th - 128 4- 5th - 141, 144, 160 & 163 1 - 6th - 204 1 - 7th - 221 I doubt Beane makes all these picks. Given the FA signings, I’m not sure we have room for 10 rookies. Last year we sent two 7th rd picks to the practice squad and lost them both. I’m also still hoping for a trade up to the top of the 4th. Needs: Edge, CB, RB, OL & WR
  20. Bold prediction: This kid will be outperformed by the 2nd receiver we draft on Saturday.
  21. I wonder if Beane asked Kincaid about Bishop? I like this pick a ton more than the awful Coleman pick.
  22. The comp to Ladd is Diggs, except Ladd is much faster.
  23. Fixed What will the experts say when Kincaid goes for 1000 yards, Shakir and Samuel add 700-800 yards each and Mitchell/McConkey add 600+ with a bunch of TDs? They says the Bills have one of the best young groups in the NFL. Beane's goal is to make us younger, faster, cheaper and more talented at the skill positions. Out with Diggs, Davis, Moss, Singletary and eventually Knox and in with Cook, Shakir, Kincaid, and later today a highly skilled boundary WR. My money is still on Mitchell, but I'm ok with Franklin or McConkey.
  24. I agree with the trade downs, but I also don't like giving Mahomes Hill 2.0. That said, the Bills were never drafting Worthy and the odds favor KC getting him at 32 anyway. It was more important for the Bills to get an additional top 100 pick given our needs than worry about KC adding another weapon. The other truth is KC hasn't really hit on their most recent receivers. Skyy Moore hasn't yet to make an impact and Rice is on his way to prison. Which is why we were never going to draft him and why Texas went to Mitchell when they needed a big play.
