I repeat for the 4th time. UDFA Mike Edwards has been waived, but they want him on the PS. S Mike Edwards and starting LG David Edwards are still with the team.
-
Hodgins played a few games for the Bills, but generally speaking you are correct. Also Coleman is the first top 100 draft pick used by Beane on a WR. Hard to develop any WRs if you don't draft them.
-
No! I’m more worried about 3 UB alums on the roster
-
All the draft picks are making the team except the International Development player.
-
I sincerely doubt Evans and/or Gore make the roster unless one of Cook, Davis or Johnson are hurt. What do they need 4 or 5 RBs for?
-
The reaction here to cutting 3 lousy receivers in Shavers, Shorter, and Hamler is pretty funny. The receiving group is fine. Samuel is an experienced solid slot receiver. Coleman is a talented rookie. Hollins is a proven depth receiver. The keys to the group are Kincaid and Shakir. If they take the next step forward, which I think they will, the Bills could easily have a pair of 1000 yard receivers this season. Don’t forget Knox and Cook add to the talented receiver group.

I repeat UDFA OL Mike Edwards was released, not S Mike Edwards. https://www.syracuse.com/buffalo-bills/2024/08/buffalo-bills-cuts-tracker-latest-reports-rumors-news-on-53-man-roster-live-tracker.html

OL Mike Edwards was released not S Mike Edwards or RG David Edwards. S - Kendall Williamson and WR Andy Isabella have been released.
-
My guess is the source is that player’s agent. This gets the info out there that your client is available before the 4pm deadline. That’s a 6 hour head start in finding a new opportunity.

Other cuts WR -Shorter, Shavers, X Johnson S - Jackson OL - Britton, Mike Edwards
-
So who had been cut today so far? OL - Mike Edwards, Britton WR - Shavers, Shorter, X Johnson S - Jackson QB - DeNucci Did I miss anyone? I also saw the Hardy injury Tweet on X (do we still call them Tweets?).
-
This is not Safety Mike Edwards or starting LG David Edwards.
-
Remember just because someone is cut today does not mean they are done with the organization. Many of these guys will be back on the PS and others may be back once IR designations are complete (even with the new rule). By the way, the Bills have acquired almost no one from other teams' cuts besides Sam Martin during Beane's tenure.

Bass struggling at minicamp (and now at training camp)
GASabresIUFan replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Are Bass' issue a blessing in disguise? I've been hoping to see the Bills go for more 4th and 2/3 from the 35 in. Maybe Bass' struggles will convince McD to be more aggressive? -
Taron Johnson is the only other Bill that should be on the list. He is the best slot corner in the NFL. Not having the best player at his position in the NFL on the list invalidates the entire list.

Cuts, Waiver Claims & 90 man roster depth: A study
GASabresIUFan replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Waiver or vested vet doesn’t matter, 10 players of our were claimed and as far as I can tell, Martin is the only waived/released player that Beane has signed or claimed. -
Rams’ LB Ernest Jones IV wants a trade
GASabresIUFan replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Elam is working toward being the 2025 replacement for Douglas. Why trade him now. Jones is a good player, but why would Beane want to take on a new big contract, when he’s worked so hard to get us out of cap hell and they like Williams? -

Cuts, Waiver Claims & 90 man roster depth: A study
GASabresIUFan replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
How many come back the other way? Since 2020, how many trades or waiver claims has Beane made to enhance his depth? -
He’ll get another signing bonus by re-signing if released.

I had Jones making the squad in most of my projections, but then I realized today that his dead cap was zero if cut while Morrow’s was 750K. That zero dead cap made Jones expendable if he didn’t dominate in camp, which he didn’t. It will be interesting to see if he becomes one of the 6 vets they sign to the PS. One other note about Andreessen vs Ulofoshio. Andreessen’s dead cap if cut is $2500, while Ulofoshio’s is 314K. The Bills are pinching pennies this year. If someone isn’t head and shoulders above another depth player, the Bills are probably cutting the guy with the smallest dead cap.

A team can bring back 8 players from IR during the season. The new rules allow for two of the 8 to be designated before Tuesday. Right now it looks like we have at least candidates in Milano (assuming management thinks his injury isn’t season ending), Trubisky and Morris. If they want all 3 on IR to start the season, they are going to need Ferguson’s roster spot.

I was looking at the dead cap on some of the bubble players. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/overview/_/year/2024 I wonder how much this will play into the decision making. (Dead cap in "(DC)" For example - Linebacker - There are 5 guys competing for 3 or 4 jobs. The are Morrow (750K), D Jones (zero), Ulofoshio (314K), Spector (52K) and Andreessen ($2500). Could they cut Jones to save the 750K dead cap if Morrow is cut? What about OL? I think we all agree that the top 9 are set in stone - Brown, Dawkins, Torrence, Edwards, McGovern, Anderson, Van Denmark, SVPG and Grable. Will they keep Collins as the 10th OL to save his 1.5 million dead cap and release Clapp (287.5K) or will they say F-it and take the nearly 1.8 mill dead cap hit and cut both? WR - Shorter (243K) vs Shavers (9k) vs Hamler (zero)? DE - Jonathan (1.75K). Such a low dead cap hit, I can see them cutting him if they think they can get him to the PS. Two guys with surprisingly large dead cap Gore (90k) and Britton (G) (100K). Dead cap for guys who will almost certainly be cut - Toohill (15k), Keaton Bills (50K), Couch (70K), Lovely (15K), Cline (9k), Davidson (4.5K), Ankou (7.5K), Isabella (8K), K. Jackson (zero), and McKitty (4K). One guy who should be cut but won't be is Trubisky (1.5 million). FYI Ferguson (LS) has only a $2500 dead cap. I makes sense for him to get cut and then re-signed so that they can get an injured player on the 53 and then put that player on IR to reopen Ferguson's roster spot.
