  1. Having an elite QB/Great passing game is what guarantees you long term success in this league. You can ride a great defense and running game for a few years, but eventually if you don’t have the QB the team will fall apart. Big Ben is a great example of the ideal formula. He was carried early by defense and running game. During his prime years he overcame a shoddy defense, and now at the end of his career the Steelers have put together a championship defense to help him.
  2. Why do you get a rid of a guy that talented on a team that is supposedly contending for a super bowl over a few million? Something didn’t add up there IMO. They really seemed to have zero intrrrst in extending him a which is a red flag.
  3. Why didn’t Houston want to pay Clowney? That’s the question any GM who is interested needs to answer. Is he a guy that was playing for one last contract before mailing it in?
  4. Just finished watching it. My biggest takeaway is that Bob Kraft is the posterboy for the out of touch billionaire NFL owner.
  5. Racism? Mahomes played in the same offense as Jared Goff and was much better in college. Why was Goff drafted number one overall and not Mahomes? Watson-was one of the greatest college QBs of all time, but his game didn’t translate? Lamar Jackson? Hopefully these guys change the narrative for good on the black QB.
  6. It’s hard to believe the 49ers we’re picking #2 overall last year.
  7. Yea...I like Josh Allen as a prospect, but I don’t think he’s Dan Marino yet. Have you ever watched Dan Marino play? Obviously 2017 the Jets should have drafted Watson or Mahomes, but a lot of teams made that mistake-Bills included.
  8. The Chiefs are like 6 deep at WR. Ridiculous how the Jets were starting Vyncint Smith and Jeff Brown in games.
  9. Arians had success with Palmer at the end of his career. They certainly have a great supporting cast on offense. Indianapolis or Chicago make a lot of sense, but at this point is Rivers that much better than Brissett and Trubisky?
  10. Patrick Mahomes is unbelievable. That throw to Kelce was ridiculous.
  11. With the exception of Mayfield the 2018 QB class came into the league incredibly young. It would be nice if folks could offer some degree of patience, but that just doesn’t happen anymore. Allen, Darnold, and Baker are almost certain to have another two years to change their narrative on their career.
  12. Right now to me Darnold, Trubisky, and Allen are on the same level with regards to reading a defense. I’d bet if you took a look at almost all the good throws the three QBs made this year it falls into (2) categories: (1) Ball released under 3 seconds (great play design and correct pre-snap read) (2) Scramble outside of the pocket and find secondary receiver Year (2) of Trubisky had A LOT of (1). Nagy had a great year as a play caller, and I think DCs caught onto his system a bit this year. These are not QBs that have shown any ability to stay in the pocket and go through their progressions at a high level.
  13. Trubisky was on a front running team in year 2, and wasn’t asked to do a ton other than take care of the football. Nagy’s dink and dunk offense works well when you are protecting a 14point lead, but we saw things weren’t great when defense regressed a bit.
  14. There are so many stats out there for QB play that it truly is information overload. Allen is a young QB who still needs a lot of work reading defenses and cleaning up some mechanical aspects of his game, but is certainly on the right track. The biggest issue with Allen from what I’ve noticed is that he doesn’t read the entire field well. He can read the safeties and has an idea where to go pre-snap, but that’s only step one in a QBs development. Coming from a Jets fans perspective I’d be much more confident in Allen morphing into a franchise QB over Darnold at this point just based on the trajectory of their career thus far. Allen took an enormous leap year 1 to year 2whereas Darnolds year 2 was more of a regression. All in All both players have the talent to be franchise QBs, but time will tell if either can live up to their potential.
  15. My brother in law paid $85 (cost of fight plus ESPN+ subscription).
  16. There are three types of coaches. Most coaches are mediocre-they don’t really make things better or worse. Some coaches make things better and some coaches make things worse. Adam Gase is the ladder. Both his presence in the organization and as a play caller will make your team worse. If Adam Gase was replaced by a random college OL coach the Jets would be better off. He’s addition by subtraction.
  17. A grading system from 1-100 that nobody understands.
  18. Rosens biggest issue in the NFL thus far in his career has nothing to do with arm strength or lack of mobility. If you watch the kid it looks like the game is moving too fast for him. He’s been late on a lot of throws, and seems to be missing easy reads. He also developed a hitch in his delivery that I didn’t notice in college. All this surprises me because Rosen has been a QB prodigy his entire life. I would have thought he’d be more advanced with regards to the mental part of the game coming into the league. That said he got drafted into a terrible situation with a bad OL and bad offensive coaching which certainly didn’t help.
  19. Wentz was also two years older than Allen when he came into the NFL. It’s quite the conundrum when you think about it. QBs come into the league younger than ever, start from day 1, and are expected to become franchise players within two years.
