  1. Everybody ripped the Cousins contract, but three years later it doesn’t look that bad. The same feeling will be had about Dak three years from now IMO. Its easy to rip Prescott, but hes better than any QB the Jets, Bills, and Dolphins have had in nearly 25 years. These guys are really tough to find. Is getting rid of your QB so you can give Byron Jones and Amari Cooper a bad contract the right decision?
  2. It’s frustrating that this stuff gets leaked (Its probably coming from Gase himself), but it always baffled me how Bell got a free pass from Jets fans this year. I give him credit for staying quiet and remaining positive in public, but his play certainly was lacking. Early in the year the blame was exclusively on a horrid run blocking OL (he looked very good week 1 if you watched the game). By seasons end he looked like he was running with cement shoes. Even Bilal Powell ( who is four years Bells elder) looked faster/more explosive.
  3. If that’s the case does Carr get traded to New England? It’s certainly a good year to be in the market for a veteran QB: Taysom Hill, Teddy Bridgewater, Ryan Tannehill, Jameis Winston, Philip Rivers, Andy Dalton, Marcus Mariota, Cam Newton all available. If Brady goes to Las Vegas add Derek Carr to this list. Play musical chairs here Taysom Hill-New Orleans (replaces Bress next year) Teddy Bridgewater-Tampa (this according to Peter King) Ryan Tannehill-Tennessee Philip Rivers- Indianapolis Cam Newton-LA Chargers? Jameis Winston-Raiders if they don’t sign Brady? Marcus Mariota/Andy Dalton-Chicago Bears to backup Trubisky in case he bombs again If the Raiders or Chargers sign Brady the Pats likely choose between Winston, Carr, Dalton, Mariota, Newton as replacements. My guess is they roll with Dalton and Stidham-let the best man win. Does Carolina roll with Grier or do they draft a QB? Are they “tanking” for Trevor? The Bears to me are kind of in the same spot Tennessee was last year when they signed Tannehill. I’d expect them to add a high end backup to replace Trubisky if needed.
  4. How about Ryan Fitzpatrick to the Patriots? I couldn’t think of a more qualified person to replace Tom Brady.
  5. Except Stafford is a good QB (top 8-15) and not the issue. There is no guarantee Tua will even be as good as Stafford so it’s an incredible risk. The only way I would make this decision is if I truly felt Stafford would walk away from the sport in a year two (possible given his injury history and the fact he’s made a ton of $ in his career).
  6. I think the Pats are hoping his free agent options are minimal and they can get him back at his usual pay rate. It will be tough to pay Brady 30MM a year for the next two years given their cap situation. Especially considering Brady needs pieces around him at this stage in his career.
  7. The issue I have had over the years with the schedule makers is constantly front loading the Jets difficult games at the beginning of the season. Ever notice how the Pats always seem to get a cake walk their first 8 games? As you saw with the Bills last year its a lot easier to cash in a good season when you get off to a good start.
  8. In a deep WR class I don’t understand the logic of trading away significant draft capital for a guy who is going to require a major contract extension. Trust your scouting dept to be able to find the next Kenny Golloday in the 1-2nd round.
  9. I think the question they have to ask themselves is how much longer does Stafford want to play? The guy is still pretty young at 31-32 (same age as Russell Wilson), but has played a long time and has been injured a bunch. He’s definitely a likely candidate to hang it up early a la Luck and Romo. If you are Detroit rather than wait for Stafford to leave you at the altar in a few years do you jump at the opportunity to draft a guy who can hold the fort for the next ten-fifteen years? Keep in mind the regime in Detroit (Quinn and Patricia) received a stay of execution from the owner. They badly need to win games this season in order to keep their jobs so doubt they trade Stafford.
  10. I hope the Dolphins trade all their draft picks for Burrow. It may work out eventually, but it will take time.
  11. It’s the same thing as James Dolan as NY Ranger owner vs James Dolan as NY Knicks owner. Jim knows nothing about hockey so he hires the best qualified candidate to run the team. Jim thinks he knows basketball so he hires people he’s comfortable with to run the team.
  12. Agreed-I think it would make the game better. Instead of spending loads of cap $ on middle tier players teams would be bidding on actual star level players. Think of Pat Mahomes hitting free agency!
  13. It gets done ASAP Hes only going to get more expensive every year they wait.
  14. Coaches are trying to win games-it’s not about putting up gaudy passing stats. If the offense scores 17 points and loses its a bad day. If they score 17 points and win it’s a good day. If you have a 7 pt 4th quarter lead against Duck Hodges you make that guy beat you.
  15. They traded a 24 year old stud left tackle to get those draft picks. Folks act like it was a stroke of genius, but I’m not sure about that. What 6-7 years of elite left tackle play worth to you? To me that’s the type of guy you want to hold onto-especially when drafting a young injury riddled QB.
  16. Idk about that. The Dolphins essentially have nothing on their roster right now. They traded a young franchise left tackle and a blue chip free safety in order to get those extra first round picks (in addition to Kenny Stills). The Bills could trade John Brown, Tredavious White, and Trumaine Edmunds for three first round picks. Is that building the right way?
  17. What he does is incredibly valuable so it’s not surprising if true. As we all know the difference between and day 1 pick and day 2 pick is millions of dollars (same with top 10 vs top 20). I still don’t think getting a guy prepared for his pro day or team interviews translates to actual on field success.
  18. I remember reading an article that NFL agency firms were hiring fringe guys like Jordan Palmer and Ryan Lindley who were out of the league to assist QB prospects with their pre-draft/combine stuff. If Palmer was truly this “QB Guru” he’d like find himself highly compensated on an NFL coaching staff. I think his value more centered towards getting young QBs ready for their pro/days, combine workout, and team interviews (drawing up plays on the chalk board). Obviously Darnold and Allen like the guy and feel hes a good resource, but I wouldn’t read too much into it.
  19. He’s also literally being paid by Josh Allen. Of course he’s going to be overwhelmingly positive with his comments.
  20. Embarrassing? I don’t think so. Stupid? Yes The only embarrassment I see is the Pro Bowl itself.
  21. Eli was the ultimate “compiler” He was a top 10-25 QB his entire 16 year career, but his durability has allowed him to put up Hall of Fame level career stats. In the NFL I do feel durability is important, and the two championships put him over the top. Does Eli Manning deserve to be in the Hall of Fame? Yes Should Eli Manning be a first ballot guy? No Will Eli Manning be a first ballot guy? Probably
