  1. They paid Andrus Peat and Terron Armstead. Next year they are going have to pay Ryan Ramczyk. Also drafting Cesar Ruiz and Erik McCoy in B2B drafts helped push someone out the door.
  2. He did a tremendous job with the Jets D last year. The players seem to love playing for the guy.
  3. First of all I apologize for starting another thread. I have a drinking problem. I was thinking about Gregg Williams last hour. The guy always seemed like a really good football coach. Why did he fail as a HC in Buffalo? Does he have that John Tortorella quality where he’s good in small does, but his act eventually wears thin?
  4. The Jets really like Darnold. If he has a bad year this year I think they are going to pin the blame on Gase and hire someone to try to fix him.
  5. I see his point. There is no reason for Trevor Lawrence to be in Clemson, South Carolina right now.
  6. Gastineau at his peak was better than Klecko, but overall I think Klecko had a better career. He was also the heart and soul of those Jets teams. I think Don Maynard, Winston Hill, and Weeb Ewbank would be included before Gastineau. I didn’t want to include two guys from the 60s or two guys from the 80s.
  7. Obviously Bills fans are scared shitless of this Jets team
  8. There is only ONE Mountain No Special Teams Mountain/No Front Office/Ownership Mountain/No Coaching Mountains! don’t you bills fans know anything about mt Rushmore’s?
  9. I’m not a fan of making a Mt Rushmore totally comprised of one generation. Bruce and Kelly are locks but the other two should go to Ralph and either OJ or Jack Kemp IMO. My Jets Mt Rushmore: Joe Namath Joe Klecko Curtis Martin Darrelle Revis It encompasses the championship 69 team with a very good early 80’s team, late 90’s team, and late 00’s team.
  10. I didn’t hate it at the time, but Bell has definitely lost his burst. I will say he still has some of the best hands I have ever seen from a RB. In his prime he could have probably been an elite slot receiver.
  11. Heading into the 2018 offseason the Bills/Jets were in a very similar spot from a talent standpoint. Since then the Bills have done a much better job. #1 Buffalo had more draft capital and used it better than the Jets (NYJ had to trade 3 2nd round picks to move up to get Darnold). Add that to a high 3rd round puck wasted on Jachai Polite in 2019 and that’s a lot of premium draft picks flushed away. #2 NYJ handed out some awful contracts: Enunwa, Josh Bellamy, and Trumaine Johnson account for over 30MM against the cap in 2020 CJ Mosely, Lev Bell, and Henry Anderson account for almost 40MM You look at all these teams (Bills, Eagles, Rams, Cardinals, Browns, Ravens) that were able to surround their young QBs with great talent on their rookie deals. It’s unbelievable how badly the Jets messed this up.
  12. You are overthinking it. The best way to make money as a bookie is to split the bets 50-50. Obviously Vegas thinks betters will back the Pats. If money starts pouring in on the Dolphins that line will shrink. Look at that Cowboys line. Obviously Vegas is thinking Dallas fans are going to be wreckless.
  13. Darnold is only 22 and has had to deal with a bad oline, non-existent running game, and mediocre pass catchers. Add that to the fact that he got sick with Mono last year right before season started. I think the fact that he’s kept his head above water is a positive. It’s certainly reasonable to think the kid can get a lot better. Will he? We shall see.
  14. I think there is a lot of cautious optimism not just around Darnold, but also around Joe Douglas. It remains to be seen, but for the first time in a while it looks like someone in the building actually knows what he’s doing. Unfortunately the previous GM did a lot of damage last offseason not only with Adam Gase hire, but also handing out some awful contracts that limited what they could do this offseason.
  15. The Jets are very Metsy heading into this year. You can talk yourself into thinking they can be good, but it requires a leap of faith. If these things happen the Jets will be good: 1) Gase becomes a good coach 2) Darnold makes a jump and becomes a consistent QB 3) Perriman puts it all together and plays like he did the last five weeks of 2019 4) Offensive Line additions work unit is much improved 5) Denzel Mims gives the offense starter production as a rookie 6) Lev Bell has a bounce back year 7) Chris Herndon has a bounce back year ? Quinnen Williams becomes a monster in the middle of the D 9) Pierre Desir has a bounce back year 10) One of the young CBs emerges 11) CJ Mosely has a bounce back year 12) Jabari Zuniga gives the Jets some juice off the edge Could a couple of these things happen? Sure, but the chances of everything coming up aces is not good.
  16. If you were the Jets would you rather go up to Buffalo in September with no fans or in December?
  17. much rather play buffalo in warm weather
  18. I agree with you under normal circumstances, but there is a pandemic. I think the league should try to minimize travel time/aircraft exposure as much as possible.
  19. Do they really need the AFC East playing the AFC West and NFC West this year? Seems like the league should step in-easy fix.
  20. One guy holding out for a contract is not the same as the players going on strike like some suggested.
