To quote the great Bill Parcells, “Potential means you haven’t done ***** yet”. That’s where all these guys are. Potential to be great, still haven’t done it. They are good players, outside of Buffalo, they aren’t considered special.

They aren’t planning around anybody on this D outside of Tre and the Safties. Nobody is good enough to be a concern. Milano created a bigger hole when he went down, than when Edmunds was out, so take it for whatever you want, but the facts remain. Milano is average and he’s harder to replace than Edmunds. That’s not a good sign.

Your take may be correct, I don’t see the brilliance yet. Marv did pretty well with a mess, but holding a mess together is not the goal, the goal is to win a championship. I’d much rather the team absolutely melt down and start over with eyes in the prize vs being stuck in the purgatory we have witnessed for 20 years in Buffalo.

I don’t necessarily think Diggs is at worst top 12, if we are being honest, he’s only broken 1000 yards 2 times in 5 years and barely so at that. He’s good, but John Brown has produced basically the same numbers. He’s never been the number one target on his own team. He’s going to walk in here as part of a team that also has another guy teams have to account for, so hopefully his success continues, but I don’t feel he’s a clear cut top WR. No, it’s absolutely the truth. He’s still a liability in the run game and hasn’t become a force in anything else. He’s a big, fast guy, as of right now, that’s it. He’s not elite, anybody who thinks he is because they watch the rest of the Bills LBs need to take a look at real LBs, the biggest weakness in this team is the LB core and it’s not close. Milano is more valuable and harder to replace than Edmunds right now. Edmunds has POTENTIAL to be great, thus far, he’s not.

Yes, he had the benefit of not paying the QB, and took advantage of it, but their D still sucked by and large, it’s going to be worse in the near future.

He’s still just potential, not an impact player. If he grows, fine, but he’s replaceable at this point.

I think they are doing a solid job, but the way people talk, it’s like they walk on water and I don’t agree with that. I also am of the very unpopular train of thought, if McDermott doesn’t grow as a coach and understand situational football better, specifically on offense, he will be another Marvin Lewis, just good enough it’s hard to fire and never good enough to win the big games. This year is a true pivotal season for the team, they’ll ride or die with Allen, but there’s a lot more to watch.

Injuries are definitely a concern, but he was the best player on their team as a rookie.

The Chiefs are headed down Andy Reid road, he’s done this before and lucky for them they got a championship before his brilliant stupidity hits. He’s going to keep trying to outscore you with a great QBs and lots of speed, defense be damned.

I actually agree Diggs is a “Solid” number 1, even though he really has never been a true 1 on his own team. I think he’s closer to Robert Woods than D’Andre Hopkins who was traded for less I might add. I’m just not happy with what they gave up to get him. As for comparisons to the division, I’m not sure why you would want to compare the successes of your team to 2 of the worst franchises in the NFL and one of the most notoriously mediocre drafting ( yet still unbelievably successful) teams as your benchmarks. The Jets basically are in the same place as the Bills, Darnold steps up, they’re set, The Phins took Fitzpatrick who they flipped for a 1st round pick, not too bad and Wilkins who we shall see on. The Pats were adding pieces for a Championship run and I don’t think they really belong in this conversation because their team was already built. Meanwhile, we take a QB the year after we should have ( stupid owners and ***** coach to blame there), then took Edmunds after trading up, the pick before Derwin James. That’s a miss. Nothing Beane could do for the year before, but forcing picks hasn’t exactly been getting resounding results in my opinion. So far he’s landed guys with potential and holes in their game, if they develop, great, if not he has wasted 1st round picks.

I would call “big” a true stand out player, yes that probably means in the top 10 for QB, RB, etc and maybe top 25 for CB, WR etc where there are a greater depth of players. If you pick a QB in the top 10 and give up a lot to get up there to do so, he better be a true franchise guy. Same thing for a MLB in the top 20, at that position he better be a top 5 to justify that draft capital. In reality there have been very few DTs that have ever justified a top 15 pick either in terms of impact on the team’s success, so to me EO has better show the F up this year. Right now, this team has exactly 1 player who is indisputably a top player at their position and Beane had nothing to do with it. He’s used 4 first round picks, 2 are starters, but certainly not for every team and one is Diggs, who I put as a top 20 WR, but anybody calling him more than that yet, is a dreamer. Look at his production, it’s good, but no where near elite. I still don’t like that trade, it might be more indicative of the fact they HAVE to evaluate Allen and this guy is proven, so I can take it from that perspective, but it was way too much for a mid tier #1 with the draft class of WRs last year.

Yeah, all of that. The chatter around here makes it sound like he’s been crushing everything and the reality is he has not hit on anyone big. It’s not that Allen can’t be great, but he isn’t right now. It’s not that Edmunds isn’t good, but nobody in their right mind would give up what they did to draft him, knowing his current production. Ford sucked last year, so that pick wasn’t exactly great “vision” for 2019. This draft class is full of potential again, but there hasn’t been a preseason game yet, so let’s not get too excited about practice.

I actually think that’s best case. I personally would not have picked him. I feel the better picks would have been Dobbins (raw talent), OT, CB, WR, LB before a relatively limited DE. He got by on strength against boys, but this is a mans league, he’s going to have to be quicker and add some moves to be much of anything in the NFL. I’m not saying he can’t/won’t be more, but I saw a less twitchy Shaq Lawson. To me, that’s not enough to spend a 2nd round pick on. Then again, I don’t think Beane has been all that and a bag of chips in the draft, he has hit on exactly 0 picks thus far. Everyone is still obsessed with the potential he’s picked, but Allen, Edmunds, Oliver are all just that so far, none are anywhere near the top tier of their positions and all cost a lot. The last great pick was DW’s with Tre and that’s debatable in comparison with Maholmes or Watson sitting in your lap. This year will basically define Beane as both Edmunds and Allen have to show up big time and E.O. Needs to be more than a rotation guy as well. I get the distinct feeling Moss may be the big winner for him to be really honest.

Shaq has played in the NFL and was considered a far better prospect, let’s just see Epenesa on the field first.

Should have moved Foster last year, actually had some value at that point.

Highly doubt he clears waivers, as said earlier, that’s a reasonable price for a guy that good, especially as a 1 year gamble. It takes a team needing a hammer style back, but there’s always goal line. I’d take him, but can’t see him making it down to us in reality.

Never understood the new contract, Beane makes some really strange moves.

I agree OROY is unlikely, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think he COULD displace Brown on the outside because of his size, sending Brown across the field more, deep slants etc, could make him a great roll, that’s where a lot of his damage was done last year anyway. Beasley works underneath almost exclusively. So it’s not really the same roll. I mean we are WAY ahead of ourselves here, but he should see a lot of work in the RZ because of the size and if a power run game is a part of things, it would also make sense to have the much bigger guy out there on the outside. If he can take over that roll, Brown could be an absolute nightmare for other teams, a guy that fast who you really have to put your 3rd CB on with Diggs commanding the best and usually the outside guy isn’t going to run inside with Brown. For what he did as a number 1 with little help last year, good Lord it could get real for him this season if JA can make it happen. I agree, but it’s tough to judge these days it seems. I think he should be in, not even really a question, but there never should have been a question with T.O. Either.

If and it’s a huge if, he manages to get on the field early, he could be the leader in catches this year, he should be the easiest target most of the time, he’ll be matched with a 3rd or 4th DB.

His game reminds me a lot of Anquan Boldin, who was a favorite of mine coming out of FSU, wasn’t flashy enough for the first round, but went on to be a borderline HOF player. What a steal it would be to get anything like that in the 4th. Also, if he can force his way on the field, he instantly becomes a big deal for this team, his size and relative speed are great, but line him up with Brown to take the top off, Diggs taking the primary DB, Beasley under and he can get to the 15 yard range, it could make this O very hard to handle if JA can take the next step this year and really make people fear the long ball.

Yeah, Moulds was thought to be a bust by many, and it all really clicked late for him.

Seems like a good low risk/solid reward move for the brown eyes. I was surprised he fell as far as he did, looks like a Kelsey type, not a bad guy to have.

It is nice to think the running game might actually be solid this year. I was optimistic going into last year with 2 HOF potential rbs and DS, but things change quickly. I agree, Moss should/could be an every down back, his skill set is really solid, the reason he was drafted “low” is his 40 time, but he’s plenty fast, it shows on tape. I see him as a Travis Henry type. Valid point. My question becomes, is it smart to spend 3rd rounders on RBs when guys like Yeldon, etc are available for a song in FA and you know what you are getting? I’d like to see a little more upside to the picks, though I think Moss was a steal, DS seems more of a role player. I agree in principle here, but when you are drafting where the Bills have been, the 3rd round represents about the 80th player off the board. That still is a place you should find starters and you take guys with that bigger boom/bust potential IF you can afford to. The lack of competence in the draft is why the Bills have generally sucked for a long time. Honestly, though Beane appears to be on a better track, there’s a lot to see how it plays out. So far, none of his picks have been home runs. Allen may blossom or he may Turbiski, we don’t know, he has not come out dominating by any stretch. Edmonds has been ok, but certainly not living up to the LT comparisons we heard at draft day. Oliver was not a big factor last year and so on. The last really impressive pick came from Whaley, that’s Tre, but that’s also at the sacrifice of Watson/Maholmes. None of Beane’s lower picks have been tremendous, time will tell if anybody develops into more than potential.

You generally expect a starter, and considering its one of the top 100 prospects in a draft, yes, it IS a lot of capital.
