  1. My other is Za’Darius Smith. With the Packers cap situation and the emergence of Rashan Gary, Smith will likely be available if they resign Rodgers and/Adams. By trading or cutting him they save $15.6 million in cap space. He Z Smith can easily fill that Alexander role that this team has been missing.
  2. Not worth what they were paying him, but he’s still a “decent” player. Dudes not a fringe talent even at 31. That said, I don’t think anyone will pay him more than $3-$4 million.
  3. I’ve gone to more games as the broadcasts have changed…. You never see the whole play on tv anymore, even on kickoffs.
  4. Exactly. It’s all about value and ROI….. What would he want for a contract? Is that a better value than other available options?
  5. He may very well get moved. I’m watching the Rodgers situation as well since Za’Darius Smith and others could be on the market for even less compensation if they retain A-A-Ron.
  6. I prefer these real early mocks though. They haven’t been tainted by the combine numbers, so the expected rankings are off college performance. That’s the value I see in them, but team needs are worthless in them. I prefer these real early mocks though. 7. Didn’t Jeter have gift baskets for one night stands?
  8. I’m not opposed to Campbell or Peterson. I’m actually intrigued by what happens in GB this year too. They may end up letting some really good players go, so a trade for Za’Darius Smith (saves GB 10+ mil in space) or something might not be out of the question. Particularly after Rashan Gary stepped up in his absence.
  9. Reggie White was important, but he’s not the guy that took that D into overdrive. That season was the first where Gilbert Brown (NT) was healthy, they added a Eugene Robinson in FA, and Leroy Butler started wearing contacts (seriously). What’s equally notable is what they did on offense….. adding Andre Rison, Desmond Howard, and drafting three starting Olinemen.
  10. Gotta start somewhere. It’s also likely that the whole family knows more about NFL defenses than anyone one this message board. His dad’s uncle basically invented many of the modern defensive schemes like the big nickel.
  11. Relax y’all. This is just a method the nfl uses to sort out who gets randomized drug tests.
  12. More likely that Beane gets a vet like Za’Darius Smith for a pick. Can’t possibly see him trading Groot
  13. What you’re neglecting is the college to NFL pipeline for assistant coaches. As bad as the NFL is on this issue the college ranks are equally horrendous (12 out of 130 programs IIRC). This is particularly important as a substantial portion of offensive coordinators and QB coaches get their start in the college ranks. By contrast there seems to be a disparity where minority coaches who are former nfl players have a higher percentage of representation on the defensive side of the ball. Now, it would be reasonable to assume that this is due to a historical lack of black QBs for the majority of the NFLs history…. But it’s also reasonable to speculate on those QBs seeing a lack of coaching opportunities in the college ranks, especially if they didn’t play ball in a power five conference a la Sean McVay, Matt LaFleur, etc.
  14. He owns several houses in Wisconsin. He sold one of his California homes. Guy invests in real estate, and has a tendency to buy houses instead of rent them.
  15. Gill Byrd and Robiski as well as a few entry level coaches. I think McD subscribes to the same philosophy as Reid who came from the Holmgren tree…. Let those guys spread their wings as stunting a career could breed resentment or poor performance. It’s about having the right mix of people who are all in. He’s eluded to that in pressers before, and if anything McD has shown a level of consistency and professionalism.
  16. Tom Cable for OL coach would be great.
  17. Can he be replaced with Tom Cable?
  18. McD has let a few other assistant coaches take promotions elsewhere. I doubt he’d block guys unless it he either didn’t see an available upgrade or Daboll was basically raiding the staff. In any case, Bennett would be a nice addition to the staff if he’s stuck floating after the Raiders hired McDaniels.
  19. He was fired by McCarthy as a scapegoat along with Van Pelt and Dom Capers. He wasn’t bad, but it’s really difficult to figure out how much blame Bennett deserved. The guy was beloved by his players though, so that says something. I’m not sure how I’d feel about Bennett as an OC as McCarthy did most of the playcalling during his OC tenure, but if they’re bringing him in as an experienced assistant I’m all for it. We have no clue who Daboll may take with him to NYG. Bennett is possibly the best available WR coach available and his track record there speaks for itself; Nelson, Cobb, James Jones, Davante Adams, etc. He’s also a Holmgren/Reid guy who probably speaks McD’s language.
  20. Watch this become the most well funded childrens hospital in the country.
  21. Facts. We have one sub 4.5 CB (Tre White), and he was missing in that game. Expecting a 4.5 Jackson and a 4.6 Wallace to keep up with KC’s speed at WR was a massive oversight. This team needs to add physical talent to the secondary if they expect to compete with top contenders.
  22. Instead of Mack, I’d actually put my money on Za’Darius Smith or Preston Smith getting moved out of GB if Rodgers leaves. The former Smith would give them a cap savings of over $15 million if moved.
  23. And he’s not one of the bigger (6’3”+ and 260 lbs) 3-4 OLBs like Judon or Za’Darius Smith who can be effective with their hand in the dirt.
  24. Considering Washington and Babich’s track records I’m inclined to think it’s talent evaluation. For example, Edmunds doesn’t really have much of a coaching excuse when he has Urlacher and Lance Briggs’ LBer coach. I suppose those coaches could be a bit complacent at this point in their careers though. 🤷‍♂️.
